Tractor_Saint Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 So we have our four ST seats for the Man U game and hear that the restriction on 2nd game linked tickets has been removed. Mrs TS calls up the TO today only to be told that ST holders have to still buy a linked ticket. At the moment the OT says ST holders dont need to purchase linked but Im told this is about to be removed. WTF is going on? Being a ST holder appears to be a negative position at the moment!
Whitey Grandad Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 I read it as anyone can buy but tickets are still linked to the Carlisle match. No special treatment for STs though.

As I read it you don't have to buy a ticket for Carlisle if you've already got one.Perhaps it's just misleading as is "non restricted sale ".Sales remain linked to the match against Carlisle United on Saturday 12th February, but if you have already bought a ticket for the visit of the Cumbrians, then you will not have to purchase any additional seats for that game. Not very much ambiguous there really is there. Edited 27 January, 2011 by Window Cleaner
Lets B Avenue Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 As a STH you are already going to the Carlisle game. The "friend" you are buying for may well not be. The Club would very much like them to do so. I would have thought.
Saints foreva Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 Official Saints tweeted this yesterday: RT @incongruousm: What does this mean for ST holder? Need to buy Carlisle tix?
Just Saint Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 So what the ticket office is saying is that, technically, someone who goes to one game a year i.e. Man U and purchases one extra ticket i.e. Carlisle is able to buy more tickets to the Man U game than someone than buys a ticket for every game of the season (i.e. a Season Ticket holder)?

I didn't read it that way. The information on the OS states " ... if you have already bought a ticket for the visit of the Cumbrians, then you will not have to purchase any additional seats for that game". Season Ticket holders have clearly "already bought a ticket for the visit of the Cumbrians" so they are, presumably, included along those who have purchased an individual ticket.

trousers Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 I could be missing something but it seems prety clear to me: "Sales remain linked to the match against Carlisle United on Saturday 12th February, but if you have already bought a ticket for the visit of the Cumbrians, then you will not have to purchase any additional seats for that game."
kpturner Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 BTW - it is not just Carlisle. You can opt for any of the upcoming home games.......not that it is particularly relevant to the OP. I ended up getting Swindon tickets with my MU tickets.

Surely you can pass any spare Carlisle tickets off to drunken mates down the Robin Hood tomorrow night?
Tractor_Saint Posted 27 January, 2011 Author Posted 27 January, 2011 drunken mates down the Robin Hood tomorrow night? The local now though is The Heros near you.... We tend to drink at home now
kpturner Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 And there-in lies the problem as the ticket office say you need to buy another Carlisle ticket.... MadnessYou are buying another Carlisle ticket to match your "extra" Man Utd ticket. It seems quite straight forward. If you are a ST holder and you buy one ManU ticket then that is fine. If you buy an extra ManU ticket then this must be for somebody else (who is not a ST holder) to use - and therefore that person must also buy a linked ticket for another match. I cannot see why you think ST holders are in a negative position in comparison to non-ST holders?
.comsaint Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 The local now though is The Heros near you.... We tend to drink at home now lol. Hmmm, can't see too many takers for Saints tickets in the Heroes mate! Not unless you have a death wish like?!?!
JRM Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 I think the club could have been clearer and more defined throughout the sales process. Significantly with this concept of linking to the carlisle game, and then subsequently allowing people to link to swindon / yeovil / any other home game currently on sale, they should have just said that up front. they need to get a better ticket office database system that many other teams have that allow them to sell online and limit purchase. e.g. sales window one - season ticket holders (obviously not linked to another game) sales window two - database customer with 5+ home games this season - not linked. sales window three - datebase customer with less than 5 home games - linked to one other home fixture from choice of three. sales window four - allow season ticket holders to purchase additional seats as trusted regular attendees (as before allowing x2 for the pompey game and the JPT final per season ticket holder) . I think they may have made this game a touch more complicated than needed and as such will end up with a couple of thousand unsold tickets.
Thedelldays Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 how is this complicated in anyway.... jesus christ
JRM Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 could even add on there, final sales one per person on database - unlinked, so people who have been before but who might not have the available cash now for paying for multiple games
aintforever Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 You are buying another Carlisle ticket to match your "extra" Man Utd ticket. It seems quite straight forward. Because if you are a member who have bought a Man U and Carlisle ticket you now appear to be able to just buy a Man U ticket for someone else. It's not rocket science.

sandwichsaint Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 I still don't get it (sorry!) I have bought 4 Utd tickets on my family's four database numbers, and 4 Carlisle tickets.... can I buy a single Man Utd ticket this afternoon ...?????
Chez Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 I still don't get it (sorry!) I have bought 4 Utd tickets on my family's four database numbers, and 4 Carlisle tickets.... can I buy a single Man Utd ticket this afternoon ...????? NO. If you want another man U ticket you will need to buy another Carlisle ticket (or any other Saints home game should you prefer)
The Cat Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 Anyone buying a ticket should be put on the database. In fact every ticket bought (home and away) should be logged as a matter of course. One of my mates often gets my away tickets, and when I check my online sales history some are linked to my account and some aren't. When I've bought my own away tickets at the ticket office I've had to ask the person serving me to add them to my season ticket - they don't seem to be proactive in doing this and it could be the difference between getting a ticket to a game or not.
RedWillie Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 no. I bought two tickets last week and had buy 2 tickets for the carlisle match. Phoned up today and bought 2 more tickets for united. I did not have buy any more carlisle tickets. Sent from my Nokia phone using Tapatalk.
JonnyLove Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 To be fair it's straight forward enough. If you have a season ticket you get the FA Cup ticket without having to by another ticket for the Carlisle game. If your using your ST to get a ticket for someone else / extra ticket then they have to purchase a Carlisle ticket with their MU ticket. So to me this seams fair enough and the only restrictions they have removed today is to allow anyone who is on the DB to purchase a / any further tickets but these must be done with a Carlisle ticket regardless of season ticket (unless you have not got a ticket for the MU game on your ST yet) or not. Unless you have already got a Carlisle ticket then you don't need to buy another one Simples.
thefuriousb Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 Extra Man U cup tickets were bought on my ST this morning over the phone ... and no tickets for the Carlisle (or any other home game) were purchased. This is as per the response to the question on the official saints twitter account yesterday (see post #5
Barry the Badger Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 Sounds as though the person you spoke to was confused, I would try ringing again, or try online.
Mozz Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 Just phoned. I'm an ST holder and have already bought a ticket for myself. Phoned for an additional and was told that this would still have to be bought with a Carlisle ticket and the operator admitted that the process was "confusing". This seems to contradict the details on Twitter yesterday and experiences of people above.

Bit typical of our ticket office these days I'm afraid, they seem to be making a habit of f*****g up on these sort of things.
Charlie Wayman Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 It amazes me that so many want to watch a reserve team game. By the way Man U will want to win it just to frustrate Arsenal's bid for all four trophies so 60th minute subs might well include a name we've heard of like McBucket or Skritchel?

Langleysaint Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 As a season ticket holder i have just tried to buy another ticket , but was told that I would be required to buy a ticket for the Carlisle game, as I stated to the lady on the phone being a season ticket holder i do not require one. I do not understand why people who brought linked tickets (and fair play to them) can buy tickets for people just for the Man u game and not linked to any other game and I cannot . Can anyone explain please????????????????????????????
Tractor_Saint Posted 27 January, 2011 Author Posted 27 January, 2011 (edited) Same applies to ST holders, so I still fail to see why ST holders are in a worse position that non-ST holders. It's not rocket science, but it has still managed to go over your head B*ll&x. I am a ST holder and therefore definitely have a ticket for the Carlisle game by default. The club is once again penalising ST holders. Those that never go to games but like the fact we're playing ManU have bought a seat with a linked game (paying £50 or so) but for someone who's paid over a grand for 4 season tickets and then bought tickets to every other cup home game isn't allowed to buy additional Man U tickets this morning. Those that paid £50 are laughing - those that shelled out £1,000 at the start of the season to show their commitment to the club aren't? Check out officalsaints twitter - even they are confused on what's right and what's wrong. Fact is, ST holders should be given some kind of incentive to renew next year and, at the moment, I'm not sure what that is? Edited 27 January, 2011 by Tractor_Saint
Tractor_Saint Posted 27 January, 2011 Author Posted 27 January, 2011 Yes, you can.......unless you get through to somebody who doesn't understand todays change. Or are a season ticket holder
StVince1966 Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 generally season ticket holders pay less to watch a game than non season ticket holders (excluding this game) why do season ticket holders feel they are anymore a supporter than anyone else? just because they stump up their cash at the start of the season should that mean they should get better treatment?

Not sure why you aren't getting it - thought it was pretty straight forward to all those apart from the TO. If I'm a non-ST holder and buy a ticket to the ManU game I am now allowed to buy further tickets that aren't linked to any other games. However, if I'm a ST holder who already has tickets to the next home game(s) as per my ST and has also paid for their ManU ticket can't buy a further ticket unless I buy another linked game.. Don't see why someone who's a non-ST holder who has bought a linked ticket can buy a ticket for their mate now with no penalty but, for me, I have can only buy an additional ManU ticket if I buy another home game ticket - HUH?

Whoop de doo - happy to be corrected but I thought we paid about £3 or so less per game and that's us if we go to every single game (i.e. gambling on vacation, work commitments, game reschedules and illness). The benefit is even more so weakened by these types of scenarios.

At the moment people who brought linked tickets can buy extra , for some unknown reason season ticket holders cannot , we don`t want special treatment just a level playing field.
aintforever Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 Forget it Tractor_Saint, it appears some on here have a bit of a mental block.
aintforever Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 The way the club has increased prices and linked games is fine, but it is a tad hypocritical considering how they slagged off Shrewsbury. Lining their pockets because of higher league opposition wasn't it? - nice.
JustMike Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 It amazes me that so many want to watch a reserve team game. By the way Man U will want to win it just to frustrate Arsenal's bid for all four trophies so 60th minute subs might well include a name we've heard of like McBucket or Skritchel? the reserves, as you put it could still include Michael Owen and Hernandez for example. After the Leeds defeat last year I dont believe Fergie will make the same mistake. Anyway, arent you an Arsenal fan???

I was miffed to have to buy a linked game ticket - definitely. Anyway, I bought my seat. I bought an extra ticket for a friend and they also had to buy a linked game. Tough luck for them - £55 for being a part-time glory hunter. Now I can buy another ticket for ManU without buying a ticket for a linked game. I don't feel hard done by. The person I get the extra ticket for gets it cheaper because they don't get have to buy a linked game - but they have to take pot luck as to where they sit. Edited 27 January, 2011 by kpturner

Tractor_Saint Posted 27 January, 2011 Author Posted 27 January, 2011 I take it we havent sold out yet then? No idea.. they won't sell me any tickets
kpturner Posted 27 January, 2011 Posted 27 January, 2011 (edited) But surely being a ST holder means you have already bought your linked game meaning your friend shouldn't have to?Look I understand the point you are trying to make - but it doesn't make ST holders WORSE OFF than anyone else. If I wanted to, I could have just bought my seat for the Man Utd game at left it at that. Why did I want an extra ticket? For somebody who isn't a ST holder or a member of course. Why should that part timer get an advantage over regulars or members? They shouldn't - so they pay £55 for the privilege. I don't care about their expense. Now I can buy another one for someone without the extra game - lucky for that person that there were some left, and they have to sit in a **** seat. Edited 27 January, 2011 by kpturner

Now I can buy another one for someone without the extra game - lucky for that person that there were some left, and they have to sit in a **** seat. But that part timer has an advantage over me now as they can buy an unlinked ticket but I as a ST holder can't. We are both sat at the same game, having bought a ticket to this game and the next but his mate sat next to him has paid 30 quid but my mate has paid 55 quid .. fair ?
