As good as. Obviously can't state who as would get them in a spot of bother. Apologies for the 'look at me' style post.

As it stands, Mackail-Smith isn't aware of any interest from Saints, but it doesn't mean Solent are wrong.

We may well be interested in him, but no approach has been made as of yet.

Just buy him FFS Mr Cortese. Even if we end up with too many strikers it's one less promotion rival to worry about. You'll get your money back next year.

Posh director of football Barry Fry has played down reports that League One rivals Southampton have made a substantial bid for top scorer Craig Mackail-Smith.

Fry said: “Southampton spoke to me after we played down there earlier this season about Craig. I have also spoken to their chairman since, but there has been no bid’’

Or....

Cortese said to Fry: "Bazza me ole mucker. I'll give you £2m for Macko if we get an offer we can't refuse for Chambo. On one condition....if the press ever ask you if we've talked money, just say we had a chat about it, but never made a bid. Ok?"

Fry to Cortese: "Okey dokey Nicky baby. Mum's the word, you cunning geezer you"

Is that same type of no bid that apparently has Chamberlain on his way to Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Fulham, Arsenal and Man Utd?

Don't forget Uncle Nic mentioned Holmesy, Forecast, Pulis and Connolly as four good fit young men as a giveaway...

Quite possibly. Fry talks so much crap anyway it doesn't really matter what he says, tbh.

Great news, Im off to get his name tattooed on my back....had a big gap since Javi de Pedro was lazered off.

IF i told you it is a footballer called BA, THIS WEEK....might make it easier for the change to Ronadinho ( USUAL SPELLIN) next week...;)

I would suggest the conversation went something along the lines of:

NC "Mackail-Smith looked decent today, is he available Barry?"

BF "No, but of course every player has his price."

NC "And that price is?"

BF "You'd better give my Chairman a call next week as he had other offers"

NC "Mr Chairman I wonder if I could have a chat about Mackail-Smith"

DM "For, sure"

NC "Is he available and how much for?"

DM "£2M"

NC "We were thinking around £1m"

DM "Nice try but I've just turned down a bid for £1.5m, so come back to me when you've upped your thinking"

BA?

Being sought by clubs at the mo...never heard of him til the transfer news ...

Alternatively if he has the name Dia...might be more Saints related...Apparently a good player for 2 minutes in his hey day...:smug:

BA?

Demba Ba, hasn't he just signed on at West Ham? There was also an Ibrahim Ba, great when he was at Bordeaux, got a move to Juventus or something like that and became absolute dump overnight.Once he had the francs in his pocket he did not give a toss,

Saga must have been one of his earliest disciples.

I'm retiring soon, going to do some work on the side a saga porn model ;-)

I do miss those young peoples holidays though, didn't matter where you went or what the hotels were like, you hardly ever saw the place by the light of day and you probably spent 10 days out of 14 in some woman's hotel anyway.Mind you with some of those girls best not to see them in the light of day too much anyway.

Pretty much sounds that way in the interview.

Well not really. It was the standard non-committal answer that didn't give much away. To be fair it's about the only thing he can say but it was hardly "come and get me".

Maybe Barry Fry's public comments are a stop talking and pay up move, to us, if we want the player? I'm sure they'd rather we got a move on, if we do want the player, as there won't be much time for them to get a replacement if he does go. Less then a week of the window to go Nicky and Nige...!

If their forum's as reliable as ours, that means he's halfway down the M3 as we speak, then.

Funny that - I followed a rather nice 4x4 down the M3 yesterday with the number plate of 9 MCS - make of that what you will.

I'm not bothered either way - are there any Metro's left on the road? It must be costing him a fortune! lol

Not into them myself but understand there an active club for the MG TURBO Metro. With regards CMS I understand that we have MADE A BID of 1,000,000 . I know my source has close links with club, but this is first time he has given me info. so I dont know how reliable it is.

I saw him at the De Vere, he was with NC and some guy in a suit, Martin O'Neill was also there being held back by security, angrily pointing at what looked like an estate agents picture of a flat in Winchester.

Was Nicola wearing training kit with GS on it?
