Craig Mackail-Smith

Looking at the U-Tube clips, seems that most of goals are short range poacher type shots which concerns me a little as I am not sure we are as good putting balls into those areas. Looks a good prospect though and fast with the ball too.

I saw him first hand when we thumped p'boro 4-1 and i felt sorry for him, as he was their best player by a mile. Gave us problems all afternoon with his pace and direct running. Seemed much more to his game than just a poacher.

I think thats what we lack up top...someone with real pace to play on the shoulder of a CB.

Lol :) I was making a reference to their historic beginnings simply because I couldn't recall the exact area of London the Emirates was in... :-o

Lol don't worry, I'm just winding you up.

Arsenal were founded in Woolwich which makes a good quiz question as to who are their historical local rivals? Charlton Athletic

Fear not, there is still a few spaces left on the bus for incoming passengers - and we may have to make an unscheduled stop in Woolwich for one passenger

So Connelly is going to Charlton then. that wouldn't surprise me.

EDIT: oh, that's just me putting 2+2 to get 14.

According to Solent this morning we are hoping to sign him this week:- http://www.theposh.com/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10427~23201,00.html

we need to do something .

according to a dozen or more sites, AOC has the pen in his hand waiting to sign for Arsenal.

Puncheon is on the way out after his verbal fracas with NA.

Lallana and Hamamond both still out injured..for an indefinute period.

any out there still think we don't need to buy ...?

Posh fan here - host of the un-official Posh fans podcast.

We are now obviously all very worried that this deal may go through this week. If CMS goes then that is our promotion campaign out of the window.... the lad is a diamond and lots of Championships clubs are circling but are yet to come even close to what the club want.

It will be a minimum of £2M plus add-on's for the club to even consider it, is what we understand.

Of course, we could swop Punch to them as part of the deal.

Posh have been quoting 2M for a while, but after the weekends events we have a player we may be shopping around as well as a somewhat urgent need for reinforcements.

In which case we get CMS for less cash outlay and Posh get a "star" player to appease their fans for the loss of their best player.

CMS looks really good and would give us pace up front and goals. He was formerly with D+R so Les Reed may be involved in this...

What is a "straight swop"? Sounds like a position on a cricket pitch.

Wouldn't that be a silly swop? Straight swap nope sounds more like some term that would be used in puerile boarding events,

completed a lovely straight swap and then went arse over tit attempting a trip reverse barrel roll loopover.Saw a really stupid advert for some sort of juvenile snow frolics on ESPN yesterday, talking snow owls who were connaisseurs of snow-boarding.

Swop is a variant - to be used only be people who need to be shot afterwards, or who like to say things like "my bad"......isn't that right Matthew Le God?.........oh, seem to have highjacked the thread for a short time until it is announced on Sky News ;-)

so in changing it to swap from the original "straight swop" my automatic cerebral spelling corrector worked as it should then?

Swop was in the original post. Would Harry Spooner not be proud of me?

£2 million may seem steep but even if he cost more we would be getting a very good player. Just coming into his prime age and with promotion the aim we would be getting an exciting goalscorer who has already played in The Championship (and scored 11 goals in a relegated side).

If we can get him brilliant!!

better than barnard and guly imo and he would be well worth 2million if he came and helped us to gain promotion and stay in the championship.

From what I can gather he seems to be a natural two footer (if you know what I mean). This is something we really miss in our front men.All professional footballers should be at relative ease with both feet but we seem to have ignored this for a while now.Lallana is a real two footer and it makes an unimaginable difference.

More importantly he fits the strategy of buying the opposition's best player. Peterborough have games in hand on us and can overtake us if they win them. We need them to tail off a bit, so nicking their goalscorer seems a good way to do it, and it would **** off a Ferguson - always a bonus.

We should sign their GK as well whilst we're at it.

No contact from Saints as of yet.

Mackail-Smith wants to leave, but Posh won't settle for anything less than £2m.

Leicester have been mentioned as a potential destination.

Doesn't mean to say that Solent are wrong however.

Saints MAY want to sign Mackail-Smith before the window shuts, but as of yet, no formal offer has been made.
