Man United build up thread.....

Edwin van der Sar has been given the weekend off, while Patrice Evra (family bereavement) and Rafael (concussion) will not be travelling. Michael Carrick, who has been struggling with an ankle injury, is expected to be available providing he comes through training on Friday. - From OS of Man Utd..

Obviously they will still have a world class side out, but every lil helps. Heres hoping he rests Vidic, Nani, Rooney and Berbatov :)

Anyone see Adkins on SSN this morning speaking normal English?

I'm more worried about Herndez than any other player. His pace could cause RJ some problems.

I'd expect us to play Seaborne or Martin at CB alongside Fonte.

no disrespect to Jaidi, but we'd have a massacre on our hands if he plays at CB. He's not got the pace to cope with these sort of players anymore.

Yes! Coverage starts at 18.10 haha commentary auf Deutsch. Will be wearing my Saints shirt around Frankfurt tomorrow for sure.

We're wearing ours down the pub to watch. Big choice - The Skate Pub (Red Lion at Metropolitan) Chelsea Pub (Fibber McGees) or the Manc Pub (The Country CLub)

One thing for sure NOT going to Goodfellas - we have NEVER won when I have watched down there

I think we have sold alot of tickets and I think the Carlise link up was really cleaver, its on general sale for the last to games.

I like the fact that we make more money and get more people in to watch the game, they could of made it more known earlyer that tickets would be on general sale 2 days before then if people wanted they could just risk missing the match or not as the case is.

SMS will be great and I'm well looking forward to it.

I thought about it, but come match day there are so many complaints on here I decided to give it a miss. I keep reconsidering and coming to the same conclusion.

Hang on a minute - you don't even listen to the matches?

**** me, that makes some of your posts even more remarkable!

Still not sold out?

That's quite embarrassing.

Not really.

We only played them two years ago and until fairly recently played them twice every year. The Cup is not a priority at all and the linkage would've put off some casual attendees (that's not to say it's not a good idea though). The reason clubs like Bournemouth or Brighton would sell out is because they have hardly ever played the top teams and have small grounds.

The SaintsPlayer live Solent commentary is pretty good - rarely interrupted. And live score updates from all league games and live table updates. Highlights are a bit of a problem if you have bandwith issues - a bit stop start. I'm still trying to work out how to cache them to HDD.

And you get access to live commentary of most games. I've had live Colchester Peterborough commentary in the background in my study tonight. Colchester won 2-1 Good result for us. CMS didn't set the game alight, from what I heard.

Well worth 34 quid a year (and it does give you loads more to whinge about when it goes breasts-up)

Not going and not that bothered about watching it either. An unwanted distraction and too much money for a game on the box.

My nipper would like a draw so he could go to OT for the replay.

out of interest when will the replay be? I'm off to Vietnam on the 7th and other than being at the theatre of ********, nothing could be better than watching Saints beat them Tim Flowers-stylie in South East Asia (in a Saints shirt) in a bar full of plastic mancs!

Probaly tuesday 8th or wednesday 9th Feb. But england play that midweek and its champions league the following week.

How many other clubs do you think wouldn't sell out an FA Cup 4th round home game against Man Utd?

Dunno - but the vast majority would have a smaller stadium so it's hardly a fair comparison. I am sure York, Dover, Eastleigh etc would sell out but I can't see what relevance that has to our number of tickets sold when about half the number sold are effectively over 50 quid.

You reckon Birmingham City, Villa, Bolton, Wigan, Blackpool, Hull, Skates, Coventry, Derby, Forest, Leicester would all sell it out at £50 a pop? I'm not sure.

And when we say it's not sold out, it's hardly going to be empty. I'm sure it will still be in the 30k bracket. So on the premise that a sell-out is all-important, if we had a 28k stadium would the attendance somehow cease to be an embarrassment? Yes, I suppose it would but how arbitrary is that?

Tickets weren't £50. Yes if we had a 28k ground and sold it out it wouldn't be an embarrassment. We've got a ground that we've sold out many times before, I wouldn't use the phrase 'embarrassment', more a 'pity' that it hasn't sold out.

Look on the bright side - the Carlisle match might be much better than it may otherwise have been.

the Carlise link up has kept many away. Shame the club did not promote the fact you could link it with a choice of home games.

To be fair a mate of mine asked if he could swap to another game as he'd be on holiday and they swapped him to another game without any trouble

Video Interviews and stuff on here with adkins and chaplow....

http://www.itv.com/sport/football/facup/news/fa-cup-fourth-round-southampton-manchester-united-live1039/

I hate that Gabriel Clark. Why does he always have to make everything sound so dramatic? Its only a ****ing football match for crying out loud. "so much for the romance", he says to Chaplow after asking Chaplow what is more important, promotion or FA cup glory. **** off Gabriel you cock and take you gay mongtard name somewhere where they give a ****.

I reckon Fonte might be rested and Martin and Seaborne at the back with Bart, Butterfield and Harding. Default midfield of AOC, Chaplow, Morgan and N'Guessan with Lambert and Barnard up front.

We will get well and truly fisted with that centre back pairing. I'd be amazed if both Jaidi AND Fonte dont play.

Possibly, I think AOC will be rested too - and come on as a late sub if needed.

I think the left side is a toss up between N'Guessan and Dickson, i guess it depends on how fit N'Guessan is and how quickly he's settled in.

I think you'd be pleasently suprised tbh. I rate both of them very highly, they're good on the ball have decent pace and are very good in the air. Martin in particular reads the game so well and hasn't looked fazed whenever I've seen him - top top prospect.

We don't need to risk players like Fonte in a glamour game like this IMO. After Lallana he's our most important player - surprised he's not captain with Hammond out.

very good in the air

Seaborne is terrible in the air. Mis-times jumps, poor positioning and when he does head the ball it is often aimless.

Although Jaidi has the pace of an asthmatic ant with heavy shopping and the turning circle of an oil tanker, I'd much prefer him starting with Fonte against Man Utd.

6 pages for a f**king non event?! I hope it will also be a 6 page thread for Exeter on Tuesday. F**k tomorrow. Anyone who is genuinely excited.....is a c**t. F**k all of you, F**k United, and let's try to win the f**king league.

I agree with this. When I look back at the history of the club it's the promotions from the lower leagues that stand out for me.

Who can forget the winning goal that secured our promotion in 77? Or was it 78?

What about the excellent run of games and form during the season that was key to securing that promotion? Classic.

Most people have photos or posters of the '76 team lifting the FA Cup. I don't. Instead I have a giant spreadsheet on my wall containing all the fixtures of our successful promotion campaigns, including points per game, winning sequences and how many times we lost tricky away games on poor quality pitches
