Saint Garrett Posted 27 January, 2011 Share Posted 27 January, 2011 To be fair a lot of them are saying, 2 from - Berbatov/Hernandez/Owen/Rooney, Yes they will rest players, but I get the impression they dont think it'll just be turn up smash us 6-0 and go home. Matthew Le God Posted 27 January, 2011 Share Posted 27 January, 2011 No i bet hlaf of them beg nearly a whole team of changes and a first start for an inexperienced goal keeper every week... Many Saints fans want to field a weakened side. Does that mean they expect Saints to beat Man Utd easily?
trousers Posted 27 January, 2011 Share Posted 27 January, 2011 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2276741,00.html "Everybody is excited to play against them, all the players, everyone in Southampton, but the manager may decide to rest one or two players because we have the Tuesday game. "This is not our first target, but it's a game we're going to fight in to win, it's on our pitch, it's a big game on TV everyone is going to watch Southampton against Manchester United, so we're going to see what our level is and what we're going to do against a big team. "We will see what will happen after that, because the Tuesday game against Exeter is more important for us at this time."

Hatch Posted 27 January, 2011 Share Posted 27 January, 2011 Southampton v Man Utd (1715 GMT) Nigel Adkins has done a great job since taking charge of Southampton in September. They had a blip at Tranmere on Saturday but I'm told Rovers are a bit of a bogey team for them, and they have been going really well in League One otherwise. Saints have got loads of goals in their side, and they turned Blackpool over in the last round, but I think they should just try to enjoy their big day against United rather than hoping too much for a repeat result. Yes, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will probably change his team around, especially because they have got another midweek Premier League game against Aston Villa on Tuesday, but they should still be too strong for Southampton. I was out of the country for 2 weeks earlier this month and it was hard enough not being able to go to games. I can imagine what it's like not being able to see any unless they're on TV (hardly ever), so enjoy the game. Did you ever sign up to Saints Player to watch the highlights and listen to the games? It's well worth the money for the extended highlights and interviews etc.
