Remember when Arsenal went on that run where nobody beat them for a season and a half (except Man Utd, Middlesborough, Chelsea, Dynamo Kiev and Inter Milan). That run ended with a 2-0 defeat at OT and we came within 30s of beating them at Highbury the very next game. It's possible that defeat after a long unbeaten run can knock a teams belief like that.

Now, can someone please help me grab these.

The game's live on the satellite HD sports channel here. Should have Terry Paine doing the hosting, so looking forward to hearing his comments.

Have just noticed that, of those playing, all our closest rivals in the league are playing away this weekend. All set up nicely for us going out of the cup (gracefully I hope) and the teams around us not having 3 points on a plate.

Of course, what will actually happen is all our league rivals will win and we'll scrape a replay at Old Trafford...

Had my first Saints related dream for ages last night and dreamed we lost 5-2 but we played really well and got a lot of praise but unfortunately it spotlighted OXO and he went the next day.

TBPH I don't really care about this game at all and would settle for simply no injuries - a win would be far to distracting from the real business of going up

As an exile, I am looking forward to seeing the Saints on TV, not so much now that AL is injured, but hopefully we will put up a better displasy than the last two cup games against them.

Unfortunately for me, France4 are only showing the lunchtime game, so I will have to put up with that ***** Tilsley on ITV , bigging up United all the time.

French commentary is much better ( what I can understand of it) last time the French commentators both shouted 'Catre Rouge ' when McGoldrick was rugby tackled when clean through. They obviously don't realise that Man U players don't normally get sent off unless weapons are involved.

Are you sure ??

I mean I haven't checked with them but on their programme guide the FA Cup runs pretty much all afternoon and into the early evening. If it's not on there's always that FilmOn site that lets you watch ITV (or did) for free on your PC.

The closer we get to this game the less excited I feel about it - am I the only one? It looks like the visitors will send down their reserves and if Adkins has any sense he'll do the same and abandon any further distraction from a competition we could never dream of winning anyway - so one's left to ponder what's the point of it? OK Man U Old Boys are not Dagenham & Redbridge or Accrington Effing Stanley but they might as well be for all the interest it's generating in this household. There should be a rule that nobody over the age of 50 be allowed to play in the FAC!

Honestly guys, right now there's a 50/50 chance I'll not even bother to go up there on Saturday.

Bring on Chesterfield!

Of course, what will actually happen is all our league rivals will win and we'll be embarrassed beyond belief and Chamberlain will get injured and out for rest of season and Davies will be playing in goal....

I’m afraid it’s all going to be so predictable.

Commentators will ignore custom and read out United team first, go on and on about what a marvellous example to the game Giggs is, and anticipate United’s tactics; insufficient time to finish reading out the Saints team.

United target Alex O-C from the start. 8 minutes into the game Neville comes flying in with both feet off the ground and catch him, breaking his leg and putting him out for the rest of the season. All 10 United players and their subs surround the ref who wags his finger at Neville and tells him that he’s only allowed one more tackle like that and after that he’ll get a yellow card.

Cameras miss the tackle as they have been focussing on Dame Alex chewing gum for the last 2 minutes.

Ricky scores a hat-trick prompting Newcastle to make a bid of £30 million on Monday; Cortese turns it down as he is upset that Pardew insists on putting his own sugar in his coffee. Ricky sulks and doesn’t score another goal this season.

As the clock approaches 90 minutes and the score at 3-2 the ref’s attention is caught by Ferguson’s nose and sees he is holding up all 10 fingers; he thinks “aah, so that’s how long it took when Chamberlain was injured’. United score 4 times in the 12 minutes of added time.

At the final whistle United fans throw fireworks onto the pitch setting fire to Kelvin’s beard. Commentators blame Saints fans; no subsequent action from the FA or police.

Close, but Giggs isn't playing.

As a natural pessimist, I will be hopeful of not getting a complete pasting.

Is Lallana likely to play? I was really looking forward to seeing him & Chambo taking on the Utd full-back's, but without him, we don't score goals against the likes of Notts County, and Tranny, let alone Utd!

With that said - Stranger things have happened....

nervous about getting a pasting, as we are usually turd when on TV, but at the same time I'm quite excited at te thought of pressing them high up the pitch and putting them under a bit of pressure like we did to Poopey amd Ipswich last season and Blackpool this. I hope we don't approach the game like Ipswich did last night with men miles behind the ball just hoping that Arsenal have a bad shooting day.

How nice will it be if they go unbeaten in the league but we can say "meh, we beat them"? FA Cup. Love it.

Saints will be as strong 11 as possible..

man u will look something like this..

Kuszak

Neville

Fabio

Vidic

Smalling

Obertan

Carrick

Gibson

Nani

Hernandez

Rooney

We could possibly cause that back line, minus Vidic, a couple of problems. Those forwards will tear us apart.

Agreed. The pace and movement will be a massive problem.

Assuming we lose it'll be the fourth year in a row we'll have been knocked out on live TV. Rovers in 2008, United in 2009 and the Skates last year. Also went out in 2006, 2005 and 2004 when we were on the box.

And '03 technically.

I'm really not bothered about this game tbh ! I went last time and as long as we don't get thumped and come away injury free I couldn't care less about the result!

If they rest anyone I hope it is Nani - he could tear us apart.

Agreed, this season he has been very good and his pace and skill I think would unsettle our defence. I do think their defence has looked shakey this season, last night they were all over the place and lucky not to be 3 down with the Walton not giving a blatant penalty.

I might even go with Butterfield instead of Richardson,

Butterfield gives us a bit more going forward, but he gets caught out in defence a lot and you can't afford that when you're playing against the likes of Nani. Richardson is stronger too.

Surprised people are predicting a heavier score line than the 2009 game, when we had a much much worse team and manager.

We'll lose, but it shouldn't be a walkover for Utd.
