Why do all the mentals base their analysis/predictions for the season on the most recent game only?

It is rather weird. It's something you might expect of an infant but not an adult.

its mental....we dare lose a game (which fuking happens) and that is it....season over, adkins is clueless.....especially after the fantastic run we are/were on...

just imagine the utter meltdown had we lost 4-1 away to a promotion rival (like huddersfield)....they just got on with it.....

ffs

Could certainly do with a couple of signings to freshen things up, haven't really had that for a while bar Chaplow. Attacking wise our bench was poor, no real impact player with pace.

Puncheon must be gone, maybe Conolly too. Interested to hear what NA says....oh and we can't score without Lallana- shows what a threat he is!

At least look at it this way...

since Pardew left we have climbed 10 places, and are 12 points further away from relegation, 3 points closer to automatic, and point close to top - we are improving!! ;)

Pardew left us 7th in the league, had only 3 games, 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss in the league.

Utterly shyte day all round really, really expected us to get something out of the game and would probably have been happy with 1 point.

And now just to round of a totally pants day, I have the dubious pleasure of going around the brother in laws house for dinner, who is an ardent Man U (plastic) fan. Shyte, shyte, shyte, shyte...!!!!

Seriously, how many goals are attributable to him this season? I can't think of another one. There probably is but I can't think of it.

He is the least of our worries.

Lambert's mistakes are costing us far more.

And Bart is dodgy as hell.

Benjii, you obviously do not understand the importance of giving away soft goals early on.It changes the whole game. No Lallana??? you're still on even terms and get a point. You give a goal away needlessly early on,well then you have to chase the game and take more risks. This isn't about Lallana it's about a keeper f*cking up yet again .

and the highest we would have ever gotten under him would have been 5th....giving the -10 back...yet we are pished that we are 4th today...

people really forget some really dire reults under pardew too......

Being a plastic Manc is one of life's soft options, you'll always be on the winning side sooner or later.

Pretty poor really.

Sounded like a very panicky performance from the start to the finish.

Long way to go though, so I'm not going to join the ''our season is over'' brigade.

We really cannot afford many more results like this though, but luckily the results haven't been ''too'' bad for us.

We've got a week off the league now, a chance to bring in some new talent and go forward. We're definitely a bit short in the wide impact areas. (seems a bit greedy that I'm saying that when we have Chamberlain and Lallana to our disposal)

Not going to watch us lose vs charlton at SMS on tuesday then?

Of course I understand the significance of giving away an eary goal. I haven't said anything contrary to that in my post.

What I am saying is that Davis is one of our most reliable performers and is better than his understudy and is not the reason we aren't higher up the league.

Davis has one asset only, his shotstopping. His nervousness on the line unsettles the defence when balls are played in. It sounds like he was at fault with the second goal bent round him from 35 yds when he was off his line. He won't come off his line when there is a threat in the box but is caught way off his line when there is no threat. His judgement which is one of the most important facits of goalkeeping is poor and I want him out. Preferably a decent keeper brought in, however I am happy for Bialkowski to be given a go because his loyalty and performances when brought in deserve it.

result was bad but never to be unexpected but the performance, commitment and attitude in first half was a joke today. only ever hear chaplows name mentioned a few times was he alone?

we are not good enough to finish first it aint never gonna happen but second is still possibe but christ they need to get a grip.

feels like the players have got themselves through the last few silly league games and can now fully concentrate to there big cup final, i do hope they all have their autograph books, pens and cameras rdy for man utd.

Typical result by Saints.Still very inconsistent and today is not good enough.

It is now time to flex our financial muscle and get some reinforcements in as the bench today was on the whole not good enough imo.

I will be amazed if we do not have at least 2 new players by the end of the window and from the way NA talks (reading between the lines probably 3).NC and NA will not want to chance it and that is why I am absolutely convinced that they will strenthen.

With our current squad it is too much of a risk with their inconsistency that we will miss out on automatic promotion.Just imagine if this team stuck a performance like today in the play offs against a better side!!!

Yep

We will always have dire results what ever league we are in...

This is a really depressing assertion and reflects our past not our present.

You should never accept defeat as inevitable.

And I bet you neither the manager or Chairman do.

To improve, you should aim to learn from every loss and to win every game. United are unbeaten this season - unbeaten.

And do you think Mancini is under severe pressure to deliver in every game or to simply roll with it and see how it pans out??

I still think we will win the league. I still back Adkins. But this result today is unacceptable to HIS ambition to win the league.

Not mine, HIS!!

A lot will depend on why Puncheon didn't figure, if he's sick or injured fair enough. If it's just that he's fallen out with the management again then that would seem unacceptable. Also the Ox situation needs clarification,as far as we know nothing has happened there but in that case we need to scotch the Daily Express crap once and for all.

Every manager we have had has had some dire results. But you can't really compare the job Pardew had to do to the job Adkins has to do. Adkins has a top 6 trophy winning team with players wanted by Prem teams. He didn't build the team. I don't see results Adkins has had are any better then what Pardew got. And Pardew had to get them when we had a **** team and no coaching staff. If you look at both managers league records here Adkins has had 19 league games. 11 wins. 4 draws. 4 losses = 37 points. If you then look at Pardews last 19 games in charge where they had the same team his record looks like 12 wins. 3 draws. 4 losses = 40 points. Meaning we have actually got less points in Adkins 19 games in charge then we did in Pardews last 19 games in charge.

Now that is not me saying i am against Adkins, far from it. He is the right man for the job. But the job he has to do is different to what Pardews was. He is supposed to be taking us to the next level. Make it so we are not inconsistent and can go on to get out of the league. Thus far i don't see any change from being that. Some results have been dire under Adkins as'well as they had been under Pardew.

what a stupid post.....we thrashed huddersfield yet they got on with their job and now above us....we beat bournemouth, again, lost players, got on with the job and now 2nd....we will have to do the same, get the man u game out of the way carry on with the job and we will win many more

christ

Yes but how many of the top sides loose to awful teams like that. I'm sorry but i rest my case.

On the bright side, at least we won't have to go there next season.

And apart from obviously missing Lallana, we have no captain to organise & motivate when Hammond's out. You can't skipper a side from the goalmouth.

I agree. I hate the idea of a skipper in goal. Couldn't Fonte do the job? Or let Morgan has a go - it might be the making of him!

we used to be awful in the prem...really awful (in the 90s) and we beat top teams all the time

That is a very good point but this is League 1 and it was TRANMERE. Heartbreaking to loose to teams like that. Good luck to them but saints with the players, support and backing we are lucky enough to have should beat cannon fodder like them.

What a load of TOSS......

We should be winning games like this, but the same old same old, as last season!. can no manager teach these muppets how to play against a team with a sh*t pitch and defend for there survival......

at the end of the day the better team won, closing down, good game plan, and it worked.... one eye on the cup???? I think so, everyone wants to perform for the cameras.....

having a nice courvoisier now... enough said about this bunch of no hopers.... we will make the play off's max!
