martyg1950 Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 Just need Huddersfield to score to round off a really sh*t day. We are not going to be promoted. There are 20 games left and our form is too fragile. Being thumped by the team in 20th place. Classic Saints... Heard you the 1st and second times and the third with the embellishment, FFS - the season is not defined by a couple of games, good or bad, we will still go up. We are missing a key player and have yet to learn how to utilise the rest of the squad without him. We are NOT a one man team, but having him in it allows us to play a very different game than when he's missing. Also - despite the slight lisp, like this 'tater as he does a good jobh of describing what he's seeing instead of drifting off into pointless gossip and speculation. Crap result, deal with it, move on

Sheaf Saint Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 Grow up and realise the gravity of the situation. Our promotion campaign hangs by a thread. Why do you have to be such a drama queen Alps? Our promotion campaign isn't hanging by a thread - it's just suffered a bit of a setback. According to the BBC stats, we have had 15 attempts on goal (6 on target) to their 5 (2 on target). It's not as if we're not creating chances FFS, but the strikers are obviously having an off-day which, I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, will inevitably happen at some point during any season no matter how good a team is. We never seem to get a result against tranmere - it's just one of those things. There was a time in the 90s when Man Utd for love nor money couldn't get anything at the Dell but that didn't stop them walking away with the title year after year. If everything stays as it is then we are still two points off second with a game in hand over both the teams above us and a better goal difference. Forgive me if I don't share your suicidal thoughts about that situation.
CWD Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 We really cannot score without Lallana can we Nope. It would appear not
Saint_clark Posted 22 January, 2011 Author Share Posted 22 January, 2011 We really cannot score without Lallana can we We had 15 shots on goal, I don't believe for a second that Lallana not being in the team affects our finishing ability. If we were creating 2 or 3 chances without him I could understand your point.
St Marco Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 Yep sure does 2 points from 2nd and a game in hand....hangin` by a thread... and you tell him to grow up...go and pick up all of your toys the pram is empty. You can bash him all you want but he is right. The squad we have now is not good enough. Our bench has no impact players. It is all well and good praising the team when we win against teams like Oldham etc but we are expected to win those games. It is like Man Utd playing Blackpool. You would expect Utd to win. If we want to get promoted we have to play better it is simple as that. I know people love using stats here so this one is a good indicator of where we are at. We have the 5th best home record in the league. And we have 5th best away record in the league (that was before this game). We will not get in the top 2 unless we start being consistent. Winning 6-0 somewhere means nothing if you then get 1 point from the following 6.
redkeith Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 If we bring Jennings back with us. all will not be lost. Maybe Bart will get a chance next week, and see if he can communicate with the C-Halfs. Shame, as the other results were good for us. Maybe we do need a bruiser for games like this, and Del Peiro on loan from Juve for when Lallanas injured.
Northant Saint Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 It is slightly concerning that bad form seems to coincide with the loss of only one player. I hope this is coincidence only. However, the knee-jerk reactions by certain posters on this thread should actually be made illegal.
OttawaSaint Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 Oh well, it's only football, I'm not going to let the fortunes of a football team make me unhappy. Saints are Saints, there'll always be good wins and crushing defeats, no use getting all in a tizz about it. C'est la vie.
alpine_saint Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 For all those sneering at my comments and pointing to our League position: We got to 2 points behind Bournemouth with Lallana in the team. Since we got injured we've managed 1 point from 6. And people claim complacency isnt rife in these parts...........
wild-saint Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 We can all joke. We can bury our heads in the sand too. The truth is Bournemouth are better than us currently. Is that acceptable to our Chairman? With all these comments about not being good enough, adkins in tactically inept, is it acceptable etc. What does everyone suggest assuming there is no more money for signings? sack the manager / bleat & moan about no stength in depth? blame the chairman? or have we had a couple of crap games after around 6 great games? Fickle? i think so. If you want a to watching something a little more predictacble I suggest you all start watchin WWF wrestling FFS
