I thought he was sublime when he played well for us - once the boo-boys were on his back he stood no chance! Remember playing Cardiff and he was all over the place playing amazingly well, scored 2 goals, then got tackled and went down and most of the Northam were singing 'let him die. '

He was a cracking player after he returned from that loan to Ipswich.... His departure that following summer was a travesty.

He was fantastic once his injuries were sorted out, especially when he came back from loan about two thirds of the way through the season. But by that time the goons were on his back and he was always going to be barracked no matter what. Almost happened to Guly too.

Were these similar goons to the ones who chanted One Chris Baird after he and Kelvin had a set-to on the pitch?

Too many goons unfortunately

Great fans.

Same moronic element that blocked Hoddle, blamed 9/11 on Lowe etc...

Anyway - glad we're in happier times but it still irritates me a little, thinking back...

Christ, those were bad times. Especially since on the old S4E at around the same time, Keef would ban/censor anyone who didn't agree with the guys who had bribed him. The ****.

They're not allowed to.

Good bloody job as well! I like it the way it is with just sensible and thoughtful people allowed to post.

For a mere £90,000

When we signed him he was unfit and had very dodgy needs. I think he only just passed a medical, so 90,000 for a player who hadn't done much for the previous season or two was probably about right. I always felt if he got his fitness back he would come good. I think when he left us he had just started to fine his form and fitness. Its just a shame it was Stoke who were the team that eventually benefited from his time with at Saints and we didnt get another season out of him being fully fit.

Could you expand on the dodgy needs?

I take solace from the knowledge that this forum is a haven for civilised and intellectual debate.

Yep. Someone above said something along the lines of "shame he didn't get a chance here", well he did, and he took it. Scored some good goals for us. I was at Preston away when he came on as a sub I think and there was one particular incident where Fuller couldn't be bothered to jump for a header and just let the ball float over his head (in the opposition penalty box) and quite rightly he received a lot of stick, but once he got his head down and actually put some effort in, he was brilliant for us.

To be honest I think £3 is a bargain in modern day football.

When I read Oxfordshire saints post, the thought to post what you just did crossed my mind. Having read it now and seeing how lame it reads, I'm glad I didn't make it.

The goons that are so quick to slag off our players were probably the very same ones that barracked the board over the return of Hoddle in 2004, and condemned us to League 1. Remind them of this, although you will be lucky to get them to admit to their guilt !

I think you should have: Hoddle. 2004. Vocal Minority. Demise. Tatooed on your forehead as a constant reminder to anyone who looks at you. Don't let this message be confined to the history books

I am not going to tatto it to my head but will be relentless in my campaign to expose the real story of 2004 and in particular the role of the vocal few as they are the ones without a doubt who should be held responsible for the demise of SFC.

Why? Did they sign Calum Davenport and Jakobsen?

Good player who was hampered by knee injury when with us, but I thought he did enough to be retained - there's quite a list of attacking players we've let go who have kicked on.....Fuller, Blackstock, Best, Dyer....I really hope Puncheon is one who doesn't slip away.

Yes, the chairman at the time had NOTHING to do with it.

Bah, I was sure I put the m after £3!

Still, with those injuries £3 may have been more apt. I hope his pay is appearance related!

;)

I could think of a few players who are worth about £3. Anthony Pulis springs to mind.

Load of ar5e, Lung. Fuller turned even the moronic fans around to the point where he was getting "used to be a Skate but he's alright now" long before he left.

Though I have to admit to singing "Fuller sh*t" myself, when he was.

As for Hoddle, he'd have been a second-rate disaster like he was at Spurs before and Wolves after, and only had such a decent record with Saints because he left before we played most of the top half in the last 3 months of the 2000/1 season.

Fuller's not worth £3m at the moment, but Sunderland are desperate for cover with Bent gone and Welbeck injured.

Sorry I typed this on my not so smart phone. I meant dodgy Knees. I missed off the K and so instead of just saying nees it auto corrected it to read dodgy needs. But who knows he could of had dodgy needs as well for all I know ;)

Let's not rewrite history, he was sh*te for us until he went out on loan, then he came back when there was nothing to play for and scored 4 or 5 goals. He was NEVER motivated when he played for us.
