Draino76 Posted 20 January, 2011 Share Posted 20 January, 2011 Hi hi, The options are daunting! 3D or not, Plasma or LCD or smaaller LED, builtin freesat or not. Basically, it has to be 50" at least, have a tiny response time for gaming (PS3) , and have a built in freesat or freeview HD. Anyone know the best for £1000? iansums Posted 20 January, 2011 Share Posted 20 January, 2011 Common concensus appears to be Plasma, either Panasonic or LG. Take a look at AVForums, always very helpful. I'm no expert though, I've still got a CRT!!!
mdearlove Posted 21 January, 2011 Share Posted 21 January, 2011 Take a look on http://www.techradar.com they have lots of reviews and regularly do top 10 TV lists. Not sure they have a 50" category but take a look.

Draino76 Posted 22 January, 2011 Author Share Posted 22 January, 2011 Looks like Panasonic are the best However the LGPXC990 has THX certified for 3D; which is 'reference' for AVForums. 20ms response time vs 90ms rsp on the LG.

Draino76 Posted 23 January, 2011 Author Share Posted 23 January, 2011 On balance; I'm going for the LG PX990. Available for £1,050. http://www.buydigitaltv.co.uk/product/view/1014/LG-50PX990.html The Panny was too expensive at one and a half, the Samsung 7000 looked pretty cool; but the LG has the best spec. (What with THQ certified 3d 'n all that.) My only worry was the 40ms lag. However there is a gif in the PX990 owners thread somewhere that demonstrates the effect of input lag on a milisecond sliding scale. Very useful indeed.
