SuperMikey Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Great signing, he's really come on in leaps and bounds over the last month or so. Lambert, Barnard and Guly up front to choose from is pretty formidable!
Saint Fan CaM Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Fantastic news - keeps a successful squad together. NA must be very pleased so far that he's being backed by NC.
Chez Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 I know its the performances and goals that have brought the crowd adulation and the songs, but I just wonder if our Ollay song has helped to make him feel `at home' and `loved' by the fans, which in turn has helped secure this permanent deal. Probably not, but long may it continue because if we are singing the Olay song it means he's playing well and if he's playing well I suspect we will be winning games.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Very happy, good stuff. "Nigel and Nic, red and white."
Tokyo-Saint Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Fantastic news - keeps a successful squad together. NA must be very pleased so far that he's being backed by NC. The chairman has been first class.
Frank's cousin Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 I would say our bus is now an air conditioned coach - not yet one of those fancy posh top of the range things, but not bad... unlike those down teh M27 who seem stuck with one of those death traps with no MOT, that the 'travelers' use... with a dog on a string.

I sung it for the first time last Saturday, I think that's what clinched it. There's no need to thank me.
Saint 76er Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Great to see the deal has been done. There was some suggestion that a visa problem for Guly's wife may have been holding things up. However, the OS saying we beat off serious competition from Serie A clubs may have been a bit of poetic licence though, as the deal was always slated as a loan with a built in option to buy. Presumably, all other clubs were excluded if we took up the buy option ...
Window Cleaner Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 I've been looking at the Guly signing on interview, most of it focuses on some of his goals for us,in particular the one he scores against Blackpool. Great goal indeed but it would have been even more spectacular if he didn't cock up the second movement of his Zidane roll,he misses the ball with sole of his err left foot so instead of being face to goal with the ball at his feet he has to re-control it. Good goal all the same.
Raven on the wing Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Signing skillful players like Guly it reminds me of the good old days under Lawrie Mac ( pass my hankie !!)
Placey Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Good signing... I must say I have still hoping for a few more within the next 11 or so days!
farawaysaint Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 I think in a show of solidarity we should all get Brazilians to celebrate
CWD Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Very pleased that he is now a true touring member on our bus rather than a casual day tripper. I'd be interested to know how much he cost us if anyone claims to be ITK on this?
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 He's going to score against United.
dwheeler52 Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 On the bus Two women were out having coffee one day. One says to the other, "Did you come on the bus?" "Yes", she replies, "but I made it look like an asthma attack".
Gingeletiss Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 I think that those hoping for loads more signings, should take stock of the three we have actually signed this transfer window, other league 1 teams can only look and wish!
Ohio Saint Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Very good news indeed. He has grown since he has gotten used to the English game, and I think he will adapt to our style even more in coming matches.
Thedelldays Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 FFS.. Why was this not announced at 2330 pm.. FFS. Cortese out
Under Weststand Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Excellent news that's three good signings tied up. Would be good to get an end to the AOC speculation. Well done NA & NC.
Jimmy_D Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 You lot do realise that this long term deal, as Adkins puts it, is exactly the same amount of time we have left on The OC's contract? I reckon the only thing that can put an end to the speculation is 1st February...
LostBoys Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Good news - Lallana Chaplow Guly and according to Adkins one or two others - I must be turning into a happy clappy
um pahars Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Lallana and now Guly are two of the best signings we could have wished for in this window. Was I worrying unnecessarily when some complications appeared to have crept in regarding visa issues??? He really seems to have settled in now (and nice to see Lambert commenting as such), so let's hope this contract spurs him on to even better performances as he really seems to have turned up the quality factor in recent games.
aintforever Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Great news, he has improved with every week.
Chez Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 FFS.. Why was this not announced at 2330 pm.. FFS. Cortese out Echo now printed in time for a morning delivery. No more last thing at night announcements me thinks.
suewhistle Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Have you seen the crap crowds most Serie A clubs get? As for Papa W in front of 3 or 4k at (I forget), it makes you weep.

um pahars Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 don't forget Chaplow! You're quite right, Chaplow makes it three decent signings!!!! Would it be greedy to ask for one or two more????
thorpie the sinner Posted 20 January, 2011 Author Posted 20 January, 2011 You're quite right, Chaplow makes it three decent signings!!!! Would it be greedy to ask for one or two more???? Nope, I am asking for two-three!!!!
Matthew Le God Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Says the always reliable football-rumours.co.uk, that can rumours submitted by anyone in the world!
NickG Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 thought he was injured, out of form and huge wages??!!
ericofarabia Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 Was a bit worried by Nige saying that Guly was in the building - didn't mention him getting on the bus.
Rebel Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 And it is an away game this weekend! Let's hope he is on the bus and the wheels keep turning!
scotty Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 thought he was injured, out of form and huge wages??!! tailor-made for us then Seriously, Guly on a proper contract is the icing on the Lallana/Chaplow cake. All we need now is AOC to commit for another season and I dont give a flying f*ck if we sign nobody else.
Secret Site Agent Posted 20 January, 2011 Posted 20 January, 2011 I thought we didn't do this sort of thing!!!! Is it too late for Papa Weigo? My pink has never been so tickled. Fair play and good piece of business i'm thinking.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 21 January, 2011 Posted 21 January, 2011 I saw Thierry Henry buying a copy of the echo in Shirley this morning, my mate said his brother knows the French former Arsenal striker, and that his wish has always been to play under Nigel Adkins, good business?

Did you get a look at his ears?
