Papa Shango Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 roman gasmi. Just a little joke there. Good girl.... I remember seeing Gasmi sat in the away end just in front of me at Plymouth a couple of years ago. Think I may have been the only person who actually recognised him. Also, I had completely forgotten about the existance of Peter Madsen until this thread. Scored a decent goal at Crewe IIRC
shurlock Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 nathan dyer well before he was a thieving c*nt, people were writing him off.
ottery st mary Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Did someone mention that dynamic goalmouth predator....Ali Dia...Ghosted through the match...
JackFrost Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Djamel Belmadi Grzegorz Rasiak Marcelo Tejera Jeff Kenna
JackFrost Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Mario Licka Jo Tessem Kamil Kosowski David Prutton Gregory Vignal Cue abuse... A lot of people thought the best thing about him was his wife Kosowski played in the Champions league group stage for APOEL Nicosia 2-3 years ago. Agree on Vignal also
SO5 4BW Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Actually - Mark Dennis. Not by Saints fans, but if you talk to supporters of other clubs they usually remember him as just a nutter (ok, some truth in that) but I haven't seen many better English left-backs...
thesaint sfc Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Ricardo Fuller big time. Danny Higginbotham?
'00' Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Paul gilchrist...scored 2 goals the first time I went to the Dell.
Colinjb Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 A lot of people thought the best thing about him was his wife Kosowski played in the Champions league group stage for APOEL Nicosia 2-3 years ago. Agree on Vignal also Rule one.
mitch01 Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 tomas hajto. Another genius Redknapp signing.
sidthesquid Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 I think Matt Oakley was one of the most under-rated players we ever had. He was the oil in the engine of midfield, keeping things moving forwards, slick and simple, never appreciated till he was missing. It was no coincidence that our fall from grace coincided with him doing his cruciate ligaments.
Special K Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Carlton Palmer - always thought he was good for us. Mark Whitlock David Hirst - shame about the injury (Ditto Mark Draper and David Howells). Kevin Davies on his 2nd stint. Kasey Keller was excellent for the month he was here! but quickly forgotten (as was Christian Dailly) Kevin Bond Gordon Hobson??
sandwichsaint Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 I'll get slaughtered for this one but I thought Jason Euell DAJFU. Williams and Telfer were both excellent. People forget how good Dean Richards was for us. Guthrie was good. I used to love Tommy Jenkins. Lloyd James was never going to be a Prem player but he improved massively over his two seasons and always gave '100%' for the team.
Turkish Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Yeah, Tessem was great for about a 3 month period when he was played in the right position. Didn't Dave Jones play him at RB a few times when he first joined, and Tessem said he'd never played there before in his whole career? Yep he did, he said he was an attacking player and had never played left back before. Decent player and underrated. Paul Telfer Paul Rideout David Prutton Matt Oakley
Thedelldays Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 nigel quashie was underrated by saints fans...i thought he gave his all for us...sure he was not the best player in the world..but put in a shift

Absolutely agree, people slagged him off when he was here but badly missed when injured, a very good player who wasn't appreciated until he was gone.
sperm_john Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 DO DO DO JONNY VIAFARA! obviously Stern John ... and last but certainly not least, anyone remember, imants bledelis ...
sandwichsaint Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 I've seen Kleba Chala play! (away at Derby, sub for about 10 mins, was that his only Saints appearance?)
Turkish Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 DO DO DO JONNY VIAFARA! obviously Stern John ... and last but certainly not least, anyone remember, imants bledelis ... LOL, Blendelis, nicknamed two hearts. His sole contribution was to come on as a half time sub when we were 3-0 up at half time, not touch the ball in the whole of the second half and help us lose 4-3 away at Tranmere in the FA Cup. Remember Kleber Chala? Did he every play?!
trousers Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Wouldn't it be quicker to list all Saints players who were rated.....? ;-)
red&white56 Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Phil Boyer (under rated in a Saints shirt)
Cabrone Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Colin Clarke - considering the amount of goals he scored I always thought he was underrated by fans. Neil Heaney. Gerry Forest. Andy Townsend - was decent for us but seems to get a bit of stick on here.
Chin Strain Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Niel Heaney Maddison Delap Oakley Monkou Frankie Bennet Underrated? By whom?
NickG Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 I know some say he was over weight and lazy, and mainly scored penalties but I really rated Le Tissier
dronskisaint Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Tommy Jenkins Hughie Fisher Jim McCalliog Billy Beaney (ok, only played 3 games but he was in my class at school)
paulwantsapint Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 franny benali was under rated by many but was a real hero always busted his guts for the team & never gave up working hard, every time a new player in his position or new manager arrived he was dropped then reinstated ( except bridge )
Goodfellas Jay Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Neil Bartlett Kevin Davies Micky Adams Carlton Palmer Trond Soltvet
Jimmy Gabriel's Halo Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 I would say ANYONE who has left us and is still playing Premiership football and being paid megabucks to do so, was underrated by us.
Dan Johnson Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Ricardo Fuller Kevin Davis (2nd time around) Stephen Crainey Paul Telfer
st alex Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Skacel I thought he was one of our most over rated players, cost loads, had a big reputation and never lived up to the hype, he was so slow and never looked fit, would prefer any of our current left backs/ left midfielders to Skacel. Even if he's found form again at hearts now, he was never very good the numerous times I saw him play.
Stud mark of doom Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Anthony Pulis Andre Kanchelskis Olivier Bernard Forbes Philipson-Masters Bradley Wright-Philips
Turkish Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 (edited) I know some say he was over weight and lazy, and mainly scored penalties but I really rated Le Tissier Lazy, fat, too slow, over rated, if MLT played these days in the internet generation he'd be slagged off every week. People forget he wasn't brilliant for 90 minutes week in week out which you need to be to be accepted on here. Edited 18 January, 2011 by Turkish

Stubby Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Maik Taylor and Kevin Davies, by the managers who let them go
rtb Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Nick Holmes Spot on, and David Armstrong. Kevin Davis
