The ref

There were some boos from behind me in the Northam, which were at exactly full time so not aimed at the ref. I was in row GG so it was from right near the back of the stand. Probably only a small handful of people but I was very surprised. They obviously think we should be winning every single game ever!

I didn't think the ref was that bad. Not great, but not really worth moaning about. As for the Kingsland lino, I remember one contentious decision when the ball had clearly gone out (I had a perfect view down the line) but a Notts Co player slid to try and keep it in play. He blindsided the lino with his body and legs so there was no way the lino would have any clue whether it was in or not, and the ref was too far away to tell. The crowd went nuts but if the lino can't see it, he can't flag.

Same lino also missed a blatant offside when he was miles behind play and Westcarr broke away. If they'd have scored from that I'd have been livid!

Can't argue with that - sitting in the Northam offsides are not my strong point!! (most of the rest of the crowd seem to have no problem identifying when people are offside though!)

The refs at sub-PL level are awful, we all know that. This one was a traffic warden but he's not the worst this season, let alone last. His linos were shocking and IMO well out of their depth. Whoever said Peter Walton V Leeds I totally agree, I had 3 Leeds friends down for that game and they couldn't believe the second was chalked off or that Barnard hadn't been the victim of a professional foul in the first half. Tranmere away also stands out but the worst I've ever seen was Trevor Kettle V Wolves in our first game outside of the Prem. Kettle got virtually every single decision wrong and needed a strong escort leaving the pitch as both sets of fans would have strung him up given the chance. I was warned how pathetically woeful a ref he was by fans other teams like Norwich and Notts Forest and the weren't wrong!

Peter Walton

Rest my case, the worse display of reffing i have seen in nearly 40 years. All refs are only human and will make mistakes from time to time but his display in the Leeds game was a total disgrace. I know a few local refs who were at that game and they agreed he was a joke.
