simo Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Worst I have seen in a long time and that's saying something
niceandfriendly Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Refs in this league just don't have a clue. Not why we drew though.
niceandfriendly Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 And with the risk of sounding like Bournemouth/Howe, that looked a definate pen against oxlade.
haddock22 Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 he was awful today and the linesman on kingsland side
Saint_clark Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 It'd take something special to beat Walton V Leeds.
Chez Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 I've seen so many worse this season alone. The game was killed by the number of times he blew up but in his defence it was tough as both sides committed so many fouls.
benjii Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 It'd take something special to beat Walton V Leeds. One of the worst I've seen. Today he have Lambert absolutely nothing but the only big decision that was contentious was the Chamberlain pen appeal.
Turkish Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 (edited) And with the risk of sounding like Bournemouth/Howe, that looked a definate pen against oxlade. It wasn't a penalty, the defender just shouldered Chamberlain off the ball, which is a legal challange, the clueless goons around me all appealed but they were the same ones moaning at our players for keeping the ball rather than humping it long. The ref was poor, gave Lambert nothing, but we only have outselves to blame for not winning, Notts County were not a good side, but they defended well. If Gully sqaured to Chamberlain after 10 mins, chamberlain slots into an empty net for 1-0 totally different game and we probably win 3 or 4. Very poor play from Gully that, shooting from an angle instead of a 10 yards sideways pass for Chamberlain to put it into the open goal. Edited 15 January, 2011 by Turkish

Jimmy_D Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 He's not the worst ref we've ever had but you couldn't say his performance was good today.

NickG Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 loads of little decisions wrong - some in our favour, throw in to wrong team, Not good ref / lino.
marc_saint Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Same ref that Cotterill was moaning about last week in the skates v brighton game
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Agee with all of that Their centre half was hugging Lambert all afternoon When Jadi headed over in the first half, the guy was strangeling Lamps, THAT was a defo Pen.
doddisalegend Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Agee with all of that Their centre half was hugging Lambert all afternoon When Jadi headed over in the first half, the guy was strangeling Lamps, THAT was a defo Pen. Thats what gets me Lambert never seems to get any protection from refs (not just this one) oppostion defenders can practically rugby tackle Lambert and refs don't seem to notice.
eurosaint Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 The worst decision was when he didn't book Harley for going through the back of Oxo in the 1st half (minutes later Richardson was booked for exactly the same offence, probably in retribution TBF) ! Had Harley been carded the first time, he would have walked when he did it again in the 2nd half ! Having said that, I've seen worse than him this season for sure !
Saint Garrett Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Tranmere away ref last year was bloody horrendous...Far worse than today.

Lets B Avenue Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 The decisions he gave were, in the main, correct. It was his complete lack of using the advantage law that got me. Along with his booking of Richardson as described earlier. Havent got to the Match fred yet. Hope Alps hasnt topped himself.

I was down the other end so didn't have the best view but from what I saw the player made no attempt at the ball whatsoever, simply blocked AOC off - but I'm happy to be proved wrong upon seeing the replay.
fanimal Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Check out the pics on the OS no attempt tp play the ball! Penalty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saint_Mabes Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 I thought it was a pen, but I was sitting in Kingsland North, so didn't have the greatest view. Actually completely forgot about that appeal!
Dr Who? Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Check out the pics on the OS no attempt tp play the ball! Penalty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You do not have to play the ball shoulder to shoulder!! Same as normal, do not win then it must be the referee!! Boring! If a team come for a draw we still should have enough to break them down for the win. I am sure we will bounce back in the next game! Just one of those days!
sidthesquid Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Not the worst ref, but he should have booked Harley sooner. AOC had the beating of him and he was going to get booked, so the may as well have booked him for the first or second foul, rather than let him carry on fouling until he hurt him. It's surely not coincidental that the worst refs seem to appear when we are struggling against the niggliest teams. (Incidentally, none of the players appealed for a pen which is always a good guide.) Walton v Leeds last year was truly bad - how many times do the fans do nothing but boo the ref after an exciting game that we won? Not a great ref, but not the reason we didn't win.
NickG Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 ref was poor, result frustrating - not necessarily linked though.

saintwiz Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 do not always agree with your posts BUT this one is spot on' date=' simple square ball, tap in and then more space because County would have had to come out[/quote'] Agreed.
Norm Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Agree the ref was dire but we were as bad! We had 3 really good chances to score but....... Missed Hammond and LL today.
david in sweden Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Agree the ref was dire but we were as bad! We had 3 really good chances to score but....... Missed Hammond and LL today. Hi Norm, I know a lot has changed but the choice of ref. is still a lottery - isn't it ?
Saint Lindford Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Ref was poor but not the worst we have had. Game hinged on Guly's lack of composure in the first half when a square ball would have given AC a tap in, then Jaidi putting a free header over from 6 yds. If either of those had been taken we would have won comfortably I think. Similarly if the ref had booked Harley when he clattered AC early on he would have been off before Half time when he clattered him again right in front of the linesman who bizzarely did not give anything but the ref who was 30 yds away did!!! They also missed a clear hand ball by Fonte right on the edge of the area in the second half. One of those days I am afraid, once again Puncheon flattered to decieve with numerous miss placed simple passes, running down blind alleys and snatching at a glorious chance that I am sure he would have buried last month when on loan at Millwall.
corky morris Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Agreed he was absolutely shocking. Even Les Reid said after the game that 2 or our 3 penalty shouts were nailed on pens!! Tranmere away ref last year was bloody horrendous...Far worse than today.
LostBoys Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Downhill all the way once he failed to book Harley for going through the man and then booked our man for the same offence. He basically missed everything as did the lino on the Kingsland side. We lost because we could not cross at all today and poor final decisions/passes in the box and wasteful shooting
sandwichsaint Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Chin up people - County are going strongly and if they maintain their current form they will take points off our rivals too. A dissappointing but not totally unexpected outcome, 7 points from our next three games will see us nicely back on track. PS Has anybody ever started a 'ref' thread after a game we've won or are refs only ever 'bad' when we lose or draw?
positivepete Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 The referee was a pedant, and that combined with the Notts County tactics contributed to the niggly nature of the game.
ottery st mary Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Ref was very poor. AND the Lino on Kingsland sise. Team was very poor... Our Manager was very poor.. Tried helping him from my position in the stand... But Nigel did not listen to me.. re tactics or subs... Very poor day in every way...Very good Macs at Dorchester Pounbury on way home. The cuddling hugging tender pushing/shoving of Lambert at every opportunity ignored by the ref..specsavers referee. I was embarrassed for my daughter seeing this sort of thing before the watershed.. The Northam fans tried very hard but just not to be.. Adam out for at least a month (even his family) this is guesswork until the docs get a good look. So looking like at least 3-6 weeks before we get him back...at a guess. Looking for a return to form for all concerned and hopefully a half decent ref at Tranmere... No doubt Man Utd will be bringing their own ref to the cup game..
ottery st mary Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 wrong! You might be right then again you might be wrong.... I might just be catching on with this debating thing.. The forum has been so good to me..
ottery st mary Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Just remember I have idolised you since I was a little boy Uncle Nick.. If anyone has seen my two sets of glasses thrown onto the pitch.... One near the touchline in front of the Kingsland and the other somewhere behind the chapel goal.. Regardless of my encouragement, I did not see either the ref or lino pick up the red and white rose tinted bins... Maybe I will check with the groundsman..

Yes, last season against Leeds at home Peter Walton gave an appalling performance which everyone went ape about. We won though.
Gordon Mockles Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Definitely officials with an agenda to favour Notts County. From the outset, 2 bookable fouls against Saints. 1 equally hard Saints challenge back...instant yellow. Then Oxo wiped out on the touchline & various Lambert holds & linesman doesn't even react or even flag when under his nose (Kingsland). He managed to pick up most of the infringements made on County by Saints second half. Funny that. Yet another joke ref & useless officials from League One..
hasper57saint Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Tranmere away ref last year was bloody horrendous...Far worse than today. Glad you put that in St G. What a bloody clown he was. Mind you, the one today wasn't far short in competence.
SaintRobbie Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Is that what the boos were for at fulltime .... the ref?
Ken Tone Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 Is that what the boos were for at fulltime .... the ref? No boos round me.. a few groans maybe. What stand were you in? Ref wasn't good, but it wasn't a penalty on AOC. And if Guly had passed to AOC when there were the 2 of them to beat just the goalie, we'd all be in a different mood, and the ref's performance would be forgotten.
Shroppie Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 Tranmere away ref last year was bloody horrendous...Far worse than today. I remember it well.
Viking Warrior Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 Ottery said No doubt Man Utd will be bringing their own ref to the cup game.. I have already heard this ref has awarded United a penalty in isde the first 20 minutes to put utd 1 . 0 up Lambert scores a late equaliser but same ref disallows it. States saints fan in the northam was interfering with play by standing up

States saints fan in the northam was interfering with play by standing up Floodlights go 10 mins from end when we are 5-0...... Game abandoned....Man utd have already changed team strip three times during game. Referee known to have been an electrician in his previous life. Notts game.. Bias or not..He did not give a booking for horendous foul on AOC and seconds later books Richey...Definite both bookings.. Strange referee in my book throughout game..Usually I am quite fair to the poor old refs..

And if Guly had passed to AOC when there were the 2 of them to beat just the goalie, we'd all be in a different mood, and the ref's performance would be forgotten. There were some boos from behind me in the Northam, which were at exactly full time so not aimed at the ref. I was in row GG so it was from right near the back of the stand. Probably only a small handful of people but I was very surprised. They obviously think we should be winning every single game ever! I didn't think the ref was that bad. Not great, but not really worth moaning about. As for the Kingsland lino, I remember one contentious decision when the ball had clearly gone out (I had a perfect view down the line) but a Notts Co player slid to try and keep it in play. He blindsided the lino with his body and legs so there was no way the lino would have any clue whether it was in or not, and the ref was too far away to tell. The crowd went nuts but if the lino can't see it, he can't flag.

I've looked at that a bit, I'm not sure that Ox wouldn't have been offside at first and then when he wasn't he may have gone out of Guly's visual field.
