Lallana out for few months?

Recommended Posts

Just heard on Solent that Lallana is out for 6 months with serious ligament dmage to his knee? Do I hear that right?

not that it is easy to tell much from Adkin's interviews but thought he sounded fairly relaxed saying something like "we expect him back sooner rather than later".

Pretty sure Adkins did say we hope to have him back sooner rather than later...

He said he hoped to have him back sooner rather than later and then expanded that to a more general comment about other injured players too.

Well obviously losing 2 CMs out of 3 has a negative effect, it's not supposed to happen that way is it,but we can't keep good players on the bench just in case we have a bit of an injury crisis.Having said that Chaplow getting another injury (unless it's a minor illness)

is a bit disconcerting as he hasn't played all that much of late.

He got a whack in the back, about 10 minutes before half time. I assume that is why he didn't reappear.

if its not the cruciate that covers the medial and posterior cruciat ligament i'm afraid. could still be either collateral ligament though

Don't we have any surgeons on here with proper medical knowledge ?

I was under the impression that we covered all key areas on this site !!!

Every once in a while I check back to see if there is anything worth reading on Saintsweb, and every time the answer is no. The utter utter shyte that is posted by many is in no way even close to the thoughts of most Saints fans. This forum is full to the brim with bullshyte scaremongering. I'm off !

Jeez

we draw to day , and the wrist sliters are out in force on this thread and the post match thread

Seems a draw against a very good team is the end of our promotion hopes if we believe the comments on the forum tonght

PS if you are going to slit your wrist make sure you use the correct technique

Yes, but didn't Saints also fail to score in 5 matches that AL missed earlier in the season? That's what makes this worrying.

You cannot replace Lallana with a cheque book. He unlocks defences, hence the 0-0!

In fact you can. You sprinkle some blank cheques along their back four. They pick up the cheques, allowing our attackers time to sprint through and score. By the time they realise the cheques are in the name of Ali al Faraj (and hence worthless) we'll have already scored. Problem solved.

Lallana is IMO the best player in the league.

However......

Other teams don't have Lallana and still score goals.

So......

I would be very worried if we were such a one man team. We are not, we can win without him, as much as his loss will be missed we were made early season favourites for a reason and not just because we have Adam.

There's a HUGE difference between having a squad good enough for league 1 promotion and replacing lallana. We have lots of good players for this league and could sign others who have good league 1 ability. But IMO lallana is a top flight quality player and therefore stands head and shoulders above this league? How does a league 1 club handle that?

If we'd just signed puncheon from millwal we'd be saying great signing great replacement. But even him, who is good enough for a higher league, doesn't come close to being lallanas quality. If were looking at league 1 or championship replacements then Dickson and puncheon will do. If were looking for lallana quality, it'll have to be a big unlikely signing.

Unfortunately NONE who can do an attacking Midfield role though

Yesterday was ample proof of that

It was back to hoof it up in the air again

Possibly just to the end of the transfer window ??

Who knows

Sometimes I think NA makes himself look a bit bumbling and foolish in his desire not to give out any information.Sometimes he'd be far better off by just saying nothing at all or something completely non-committal like "we'll see".

Yeah but for us or Millwall. He had a great chnace in the first half but blazed it over.

I feel quite sorry for him ATM

He was trying very hard, and I'm sure he wants to do well, but it is making him too "up tight" at the crucial moment

A relaxed player would have put that chance away

ONE Goal would sort it, and I really hope he gets it soon

Then we will see the real Puncheon IMHO

Agree with that totally.

At Millwall he was relaxed, enjoyed his game and then out came his championship quality.

All he needs here is a goal, it's been a horrible barren spell for him in a saints shirt and I think it's affecting him mentally. Adkins is the best possible person to help him with that though.

Here's a "cup half full" view....

Lallana getting an injury now, that could keep him out for several weeks, could end up being a blessing in disguise....

To me, we were always going to be in danger of burning Lallana out over the next few months, especially with the FA Cup still on the radar. Despite having a squad rotation system (of sorts) in place, Adam was always going to be first name on the team sheet for EVERY game.

Now he's got a period of enforced rest, him coming back in February/March for the final quarter of the season could well work out in our favour as he will be fresh again.

Of course, this 'positive thinking' view on the situation is based on the assumption that the team will be able to stay in touch with the automatic promotion berths in the meantime.

Every cloud....

No he didn't he said we would hope to have them back sooner rather than later. Not sure what all the secrecy is all about though.

No "expect" is what he said!! Not sure what the problem is??!!

Some of his cross-field passes to AOC were sublime. I thought that he had a decent game. Sadly he is one of those players where the nay-sayers pick up on the negative and ignore the positive. One chance which he missed when he slipped is enough to condemn him to being crap.

Agree - the Doom Merchants always need someone to slate .. and at the moment it's him

He looks tense in front of home crowds .... not surprising given the sh**ite some tw*ats give him

Agree,

This happened to Guly before he rammed it all down everyones throats. But then we have had our fair share of players that didn't seem to fit at the club, Lallana was one of them, Hammond, Puncheon and Schneiderlin this season. Not to mention Ormarod, Svensson and Oakley.

Surely its time to buy ryan harley. Just the player we need imo. He would be ideal.

We have been in for him during this window and we even inquired towards the of last year but we have been re-buffed which is odd considering he is out of contract in the summer and can walk away for nothing!...Now he knows that other clubs are interested in buying him he is surely not going to sign a new contract with them which means Exeter will miss out on a transfer fee.

But what was interesting was that whilst we kept everything in-house as that is how Poyet likes it, Exeter's DIrector Of Football blabbed about it all to the press, which leads me to think they have done this to make other clubs sit up and take notice in the hope of tempting further bids. So, if you are going to make your move then I would do so quickly because if no one buys him before the end of the window I would expect us to go back in for him knowing that this will be the Grecians last chance to get any money for him before he walks out for nothing...Not that I think we need him as we have plenty of decent mid-fielders...

interestingly a few posts on there say we wont miss him to much due to our huge squad. Strange how our rivals think this yet on here a lot are predicting disaster and a slide down the table.

Wow, this from someone who places so much stock on how often you see our team to judge the validity of your post....

Very strange contradiction indeed...

No, not really a contradiction at all, more an observation about perception. Do you not think it strange how the wrist slitters on here, no names mentioned, who rarely see our team yet claim to "support" them, see one thing, yet our promtion rivals see the opposite, which tends to subscribe to the majority view on the "this squad is good enough for promtion" thread. No doubt they all "inform" themselves from a lot of the same sources, strange one that.
