david in sweden Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 is a big story on several sites today, but " whoever " it is ..what great timing by Nicola Cortese. Just as they lose a manager ..and need some capital to give a transfer budget to the new guy, NC can walk in the door with a suitcase full of unmarked notes. .no sorry!. offers them cash up front and it's a win-win situation ..(although hopefully our windfall will be better than theirs).
Turkish Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Mark Pugh? He was heavily linked in December. You got a link mate?
Berkshire Saint Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/8793107.Saints_plotting_Cherries_raid_/
Cricketphilly Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Don't know any of them, any of them we fancy those in the know?
Bailey Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 If these rumours are true, maybe there's a possibility that Seaborne could be heading to Sheffield United, as speculated on Sky earlier in the week?
Saint Charlie Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Bartley must be the one that refers to.
david in sweden Posted 15 January, 2011 Author Posted 15 January, 2011 Mark Pugh? He was heavily linked in December. You got a link mate? I saw it on vitalfootball.co.uk bournemouth site and they got it from the Echo...
david in sweden Posted 15 January, 2011 Author Posted 15 January, 2011 Site me up Dave. storyline is on the Echo site Colin ..if we trust that ?
saint lard Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Can any members of the Cherries squad perform to championship standard?
Deppo Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Perhaps Eddie Howe is ready to start playing again?
Smirking_Saint Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Perhaps we are going for Bartley as a replacement for an aeging Rahdi Jaidi ?? I would imagine however we are more likely to be looking at Marc Pugh. All IMO anyways. Still, what a ridiculous article by that silly little rag, 'Saints might perhaps be signing someone, we think it might be Bournemouth, but we don't know who.....perhaps' Well done Echo.
Saint Lindford Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Either of their CB's would be a reasonable signing. Doubt Jaidi would play much next season so to have 4 decent CB's in Fonte, Martin, Seabourne + an other will be a good starting point for the new season.

Doubt Jaidi would play much next season so to have 4 decent CB's in Fonte, Martin, Seabourne + an other will be a good starting point for the new season. IF true, it would sounds like a sensible idea. Jaidi has (in general) been a good buy, and returning to the CCC as regular would be a nice honour for him to celebrate. However, even someone of his experience (35 ?) might well go down hill quickly and I doubt if he would survive another season... in CCC. It leaves us with a good crop of 23 /25 year olds CHs marshalled by Fonte, who undoubtedly has his best days to come.
Chez Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Can any members of the Cherries squad perform to championship standard? I thought Bartley looked very good in the game at SMS. Defensive midfielder that looked to be a real athlete and made Hammond look especially slow that day. I was amazed when they took him off. I'd need to see him more often to know if he could play at a higher level, but on that showing alone I'd say he would offer us a fair bit in terms of a strong midfielder that can cover the ground quickly, providing a barrier for the back four.
Ken Tone Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Bartley must be the one that refers to. Pearce is much better than Bartley
Junction 9 Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 I have heard the Steve Fletcher stand is about to be re-named, for obvious reasons now I've read this.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 My Boscombe supporting mate reckons Bartley has been class all season and could improve a lot, whereas Pearce is at his peak in League 1. I thought Bartley was average at SMS and couldn't see it, but he watches them week in week out and says that was just an off day.
saintsteven Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 We are rumoured to be looking for a keeper could it be Jalal?
LeBenali Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Bartley is much more at home in the DM sort of role in midfield, but my Cherry supporting mates say he's been moved to defence due to injuries etc. Would much rather Pugh, although Bartley could do a job as a ball winner in a 4-5-1 formation away from home. His discipline would need to be sorted though, gives away far too many penalties (as was nearly seen by those who watched the game last night).
SaintNeil90 Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 Bartley is a midfielder playing centre back, Pugh is not a defender so my guess is its Pearce.
dubai_phil Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 They mentioned this on the Solent commentary FWIW
PaulSaint Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 I looked out for Pugh on Bompeys Sky game last night because Id read the rumours a few weeks back. He was awful, more like P00? Hope it's one of the others?
peacey Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 and the source is HP! sorry couldnt resist it. Would love it to be him though! Oh yes!

Totally agree.
southbourne saint Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 (edited) I went to their game v Plymouth and watched the Cochester game on tv only Jason Pearce would get any where near our first 11, which highlights the job Howe has done. Edited 15 January, 2011 by southbourne saint
Badger Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 its jason pearce from a source Aren't you connected to the club Dr ?
eurosaint Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 I watched the Colchester game last night and the only Bompey player that caught my eye was Liam Feeney on the left wing! Thought he was pacy and put over some nice crosses ! Not a defender mind, so he doesn't fit with this particular rumour !
Badger Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 You don't have to be a genius to know several AFCB players will now be heading up to Burnley.
SaintNeil90 Posted 15 January, 2011 Posted 15 January, 2011 You don't have to be a genius to know several AFCB players will now be heading up to Burnley. How many times is this said when a manager moves to a new club? How many times does it actually happen? I doubt they will, Burnleys squad is far superior to anything Bournemouth have.
Crab Lungs Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Pugh In talks with 'the Santos' via Twitter
derry Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Don't take anybody, if it is true, until after next weeks Brighton game, we need them to at least draw.
shurlock Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Liam Feeney's been impressive for them. V.pacey to boot.
Thedelldays Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 You don't have to be a genius to know several AFCB players will now be heading up to Burnley. just like lallana, fonte and lambert on their way to tyne side...?
Chez Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 O'Driscoll took quite a few Cherry's up to Donny.
eurosaint Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Liam Feeney's been impressive for them. V.pacey to boot. See post 35, nice to know that we both spotted his potential, but if he signs and does well, I said it first
Ken Tone Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 My Boscombe supporting mate reckons Bartley has been class all season and could improve a lot, whereas Pearce is at his peak in League 1. I thought Bartley was average at SMS and couldn't see it, but he watches them week in week out and says that was just an off day. Well fair enough, but the 3 or so times I've seen Bournemouth at St Marys' or on the tv, Bartley has made a major mistake each time ..given away penalties etc. He should have given away a penalty against colchester if the ref hadn't missed it.
krissyboy31 Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 When Stevo mentioned Pugh, I was going to post something about preferring Barney McGrew, then thought better of it!!!
Lord Duckhunter Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Mitchell is claiming that nobody will be leaving. http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/8795844.Cherries_chairman_MItchell_tells_Howe__Keep_your_hands_off_our_players/
