Danish Saint Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 (edited) Just wondering. We heap loads of praise on Lallana, Lambert, Chamberlain.... but who is the unsong hero so far this season? Barnard sure deserves a lot of credit. And our midfield is getting better and better, with Chaplow adding the extra bite to Hammond and Spiderman. Both of them have improved because of Chaplow. IMHO it's got to be one of the back four. Fonte gets all the credit, but Dickson and Richardson are doing their jobs very quietly and efficiently, but that was expected of both of them. I would go with Seaborne. He's been making loads of progress so far and has wastly improved this season. If he continues this, the pairing of Fonte/Seaborne in the center of our defence, brings back memories of Svensson/Lundekvam. Edited 12 January, 2011 by Danish Saint
Jimmy_D Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 To be fair, we have songs for more players than any other club I can think of. Our heroes get sung pretty well ^^
Colinjb Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Hmmmmm. Butterfield for me. Just.... because.
saintsforlife7 Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Richardson for me, came back from injury and has looked quality without any real recognition of such, just going about his work in a professional manner!
Saint Garrett Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 To be fair I think the majority of our players have had their praises sung so far this season.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Richardson for me - he has had some great performances.
RedArmy Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Fonte is so consistently good that it kind of goes unmentioned now, he's been class this year.
SNSUN Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 For me, it's Kelvin. People name the positions we need to strengthen, but few people say goalie. He's not the best keeper ever, but I always feel reassured when I see him between the posts. A good professional, though I'm not sure whether he'll be the answer if we make it back to the Championship long term.
dronskisaint Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 You mean 'unsung hero'. Yes....for unhung zeros look to the PO code;)
paulwantsapint Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Alan Pardew he put the foundations in place from which Adkins is building after some slight under pinning
Danish Saint Posted 13 January, 2011 Author Posted 13 January, 2011 (edited) You mean 'unsung hero'. Yeah... sorry for the typo. But do we have a song for Seaborne? Edited 13 January, 2011 by Danish Saint
Saintscott Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Spiderman for me. He just seems to play it simple which I think you need in a team.
dubai_phil Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Skacel You know, some people on here are getting as obsessed as Dalek about certain blasts from the past.
Joesaint Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Agree that it is probably Nicola Cortese. Remember he got booed at the JP final (I watched the DVD a week ago or so) and I cringed. He got ML to invest and he clearly supports NA. The investment in saints has been top quality, has he got a song? Maybe we need another? COYS
South City Si Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Got to be Richardson for me. He's the best right back we've had in a long while.Strong, defends well and gets forward.
Avenue Saint Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Cortese! Where would we be without his interest?!
Papa Shango Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Agree that it is probably Nicola Cortese. Remember he got booed at the JP final (I watched the DVD a week ago or so) and I cringed. He got ML to invest and he clearly supports NA. The investment in saints has been top quality, has he got a song? Maybe we need another? COYS Didn't hear any boos then, although wouldn't surprise me if there were some. Only Saints fans would boo the man who convinced Marcus Liebherr to buy the club. Would also give my vote for unsung hero to King Cortese. I am biased because I'm the guys biggest fan, but IMO he's exactly what we need and will take us far. If it was up to me the whole stadium would be singing his name every match. Also should mention Schneiderlin. Not everyone rates him for some reason, but he oozes class. The kid has a huge future IMO. Frazer Richardson has been really solid as well!
S-Clarke Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Richardson is a good shout, but i totally agree with Seaborne. I think he's been one of our most improved players tbh, although he's never been as bad as some people make out. I'm not surprised clubs from a higher league are after him. Will be a v good player, he's developing into a proper CB. Also morgan has been a joy to watch in recent weeks. He's majestic at times.
georgeweahscousin Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Nicola Cortese. Despite constant criticism from fans, he has rolled with the punches, got on with his job and stayed relatively behind the scenes.
CitySaint Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Cortese ... At some point hopefully the remaing 'anti-cortese' section of our fan base, will realise what a fantastic job and asset our chairman is. I genuinely think we need a song, sooner rather than later. To the tune of the godfather? How people booed him is farcical? In Nicola We Trust. COYR !
bigdavewatson Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Morgan for me, he has improved greatly and has the ability we'll need in the Championship, just wish he'd score a bit, he really does look like a rabbit at the end of a shotgun when he gets within shooting distance.
Guan 2.0 Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Cortese ... Despite constant criticism from fans, he has rolled with the punches, got on with his job and stayed relatively behind the scenes. I propose the forum song boffins get on this ASAP. Frankly anyone who can't see the vital and downright marvellous work he has done and continues to do for the club needs to contact the police or medical professions to alert them to their dangerous mental state. He reminds me very much of a more connected and charming version of Lowe. Though actually having met Lowe more than once, I would say he was a genuine tryer, who only wanted the best for the club, and certainly a million miles away from the image of a moustache twirling baby eater who became aroused every time we lost a star player or suffered relegation, as he was often portrayed on here. Hence why I think Cortese has the right idea with his dinners for fans/ Q and A.
sir woody Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 I'm going to say Cortese - He has made a few rash decisions, but getting rid of Pardew was a masterstroke, bringing in a very clever young manager(Adkins) with experience at this level was another very clever move, Adkins is way sharper than 90% of the managers in this league and probably the championship as well. Do not underestimate Cortese, i think you'll find if anybody does, it will be to their own detriment !!
braveheart1983 Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Cortese for me too. Wow! a fan base that loves their Chairman.....mmm....this is highly irregular.....what kind of fans are we becoming?!
a1ex2001 Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Roman Gasmi for me Currently playing in the 5th tier of French football!
