dune Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 I think he's brilliant. I'm currently watching him at PMQ's and he's a complete and utter liability. He's no match for David Cameron and even Harriet Harman is noticably cringeing with every lisp.
Verbal Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Ed is not a natural - at anything really, as far as I can tell - but he comes from a good lineage. His father Ralph was one of British Marxism's most respected political theorists. So I still have high hopes.
angelman Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Am I the only one who thinks that Ed Milliband sounds like a mincer?
dune Posted 12 January, 2011 Author Posted 12 January, 2011 Am I the only one who thinks that Ed Milliband sounds like a mincer? He does come accross as being effeminate and when David Cameron mocks him he can't handle it and get's catty (which i'm sure is DC's intention). He's not cut out for front bench politics, and he's not a leader. He has the looks of Mr Bean, the charisma of Verbal and when he talks he sounds like Chris Eubank.
mickn Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Caught the end of a news item about a survey this morning, Miliband and Labour on 41% Slimey Cameron and Tories on 40 and Nick no hope Clegg on 7, sounded good to me

By 2015 the worst of the pain will be over and voters won't want to risk letting Labour loose on the economy again.
mickn Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 The present coalition is the best thing ever for the Labour party
dune Posted 12 January, 2011 Author Posted 12 January, 2011 The present coalition is the best thing ever for the Labour party It should help them, but it also helps the Tories. We (Labour and Tory supporters) just need to make sure that First Past The Post stays and we'll be back to two party politics again.
Viking Warrior Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Ed Milliband one pansy short of a full posy He does not inspire me one IOTA now his brother was a far better bet
CB Saint Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 When he speaks I can't help thinking about the teacher in Charlie Brown. He probably has quite a lot of good things to say but his voice tone just switches off my attention.
niceandfriendly Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 PMQ's always used to be available for viewing here http://www.number10.gov.uk/number-10-tv/prime-ministers-questions but the latest one I can find is 21st July 2010. Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong please?

Eastcowzer Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Am I the only one who thinks that Ed Milliband sounds like a mincer? Has anybody else noticed a similarity with Wallace from 'Wallace and Grommitt' - except the dog has more sense.
Deppo Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 I certainly wouldn't vote for anyone with a lisp or who seeemed a bit gay. That's just what my politicial leanings are all about.
Saintandy666 Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 To be fair for him, Cameron couldn't answer his questions today. I think you don't give him enough credit.
Verbal Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 This takes us happily back to the various intelligence debates. The left=cleverer/right=dumbass equation seems incontrovertible, based on the thread so far. I wonder if there will be any more confirming evidence any time soon..?
docker-p Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Every time Ed Milliband faces Cameroon across the dispatch box he makes Cameroon look like fumbling schoolboy who's just wet himself. By the time the Condem love fest falls apart Ed Milliband will be ready to wipe the floor with old bubblegum face.

I've discovered the exception that proves the rule if that helps.... By the time the Condem love fest falls apart Ed Milliband will be ready to wipe the floor with old bubblegum face. Yeah, right. Ed is the over-the-trenches fodder Labour need while they regroup. If he is still at the helm come the next election then it means the Labour hierarchy have decided they cant win it. His political abilities are utterly irrelevant, he comes across as the tw*t to top all tw*ts and he will not be leading Labour into any election the party thinks it can win. Cross reference Michael Foot, possibly the best leader Labour ever had but nobody remembers anything except his donkey jacket. Ed Miliband will go down in history as that guy with a lisp who snatched the leadership from his brother.
bridge too far Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Didn't Churchill have some sort of speech impediment?
GenevaSaint Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 I think he's brilliant. I'm currently watching him at PMQ's and he's a complete and utter liability. scotty Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Didn't Churchill have some sort of speech impediment? fair comment, but that doesnt mean that Ed Miliband belongs in the same category as Winston Churchill. I would count myself as a natural leftie, labour voter and so on, but I cant see anything in his appointment to suggest that the party actually wants him there come election time. He is a makeweight and a bullet catcher, nothing more.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 I think he's brilliant. I'm currently watching him at PMQ's and he's a complete and utter liability. Or, start a thread about the disgraceful, disgusting and outrageous banker bonuses from banks such as Lloyds!
trousers Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Get a ****ing job FFS! Or, start a thread about the disgraceful, disgusting and outrageous banker bonuses from banks such as Lloyds! And, Dune, when you start said thread, don't forget to mention in passing that Labour did sod all about restraining bank bonuses on their watch. Probably worth slipping Fred the Shred's knighthood into the conversation while you're there. Oh, and final challenge: you're not allowed to use the words: Labour, hypocrites and opportunist in the same sentence. Good luck... ;-)
solentstars Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Yeah, right. Ed is the over-the-trenches fodder Labour need while they regroup. angelman Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Get a ****ing job FFS! Or, start a thread about the disgraceful, disgusting and outrageous banker bonuses from banks such as Lloyds! On the one hand he has returned Lloyds to profitability, although as a customer I am getting severely raped by them although I doubt that their profit comes from the likes of me and my small business. On the other hand, as a customer and a share holder (not via the government bailout), I would like a bonus for staying with them, either in the form of some interest or a dividend. (With Lloyds, I think that you should ask why they got into trouble. Certainly it helped Gordon Brown out of a huge hole, but at the cost to us shareholders. HTF can you do any sort of due diligence and not find a £10bn hole in the accounts. That is accounting of the Pompey type).
Saintandy666 Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 In a few years time as the election looms Cameron and his chums will sell the banks for billions. We will suddenly have an influx of 'unexpected money'. The ideological shrinking of the state will be complete and he will offer tax cuts.
Special K Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Miliband may well turn out to be a decent politician, but he's too young to be a party leader. None of the young'uns have the respect and gravitas of someone like Paddy Ashdown for instance, who atm (and imho), would be a very good party leader. Also when image and projection are as integral a part of modern politics as belief, he's hardly used his first few months to great effect. For the sake of the Labour Party, it's a shame Alan Johnson didn't want to be leader.
Verbal Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 (edited) Ed = pleb He'll be happy to hear that. He's from a family of rather daunting intellectuals, and the idea that he has any plebeian - ie working class - qualities is miles from the truth. He will, though, win his first of many by-elections tonight against an enfeebled and unpopular coalition. Edited 13 January, 2011 by Verbal

dune Posted 13 January, 2011 Author Posted 13 January, 2011 I thought you supported UKIP? UKIP is, in my opinion, a natural right wing branch of the Conservative Party.
dune Posted 13 January, 2011 Author Posted 13 January, 2011 Every time Ed Milliband faces Cameroon across the dispatch box he makes Cameroon look like fumbling schoolboy who's just wet himself. By the time the Condem love fest falls apart Ed Milliband will be ready to wipe the floor with old bubblegum face. Dream on. David Cameron is a far better modern politician. We're living in an X_Factor society now what with the media coverage and despite Daves achiles heel (he's posh) he wins his duels with Red Ed every time. Dave is a confident man - therefore he's a leader, Ed is nerd - therefore he's not a leader. It's as simple as that. Couple this with the conservative plan to have the economy recovering in 2015 (a feel good factor) and I can see us being at the start of new era of Conservative rule. The thick people thought Maggie was going to lose in 1983. When people were polled they all said they wouldn't vote Tory. But that is because their is a stigma attached to voting Tory i.e it's a toffs party, but what happened in 1983 is that once people were in the ballot booth they put an X next to the Conservative candidate BECAUSE THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY IS THE PARTY THAT KNOWS HOW TO MANAGE THE ECONOMY AND A VOTE FOR THE TORIES IS A VOTE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.
Thedelldays Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 this milliband will never be PM of this country...for no other reason than that he sounds funny.. we are now in the age of prime time debates and he will miss out for that very factor

Verbal Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Which makes him the ideal man to lead a party that, apparenty, represents the ordinary/working class person. The party has a long history of that. And why not? Unless you somehow think it is simply impossible to think outside of your own class interests, which would be a truly odd idea.

Verbal Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 In your opion what are the classes in this country? They are divided into those who can spell and those who can't.
