Fantastic display. Can't remember seeing Saints score 6 with 6 different scorers before. Guly looks a different player from earlier this season. Please sign him up, was chasing back and winning the ball still in injury time.

Great support tonight, looked like about 500 fans there. Make no mistake Oldham are not a poor team in this league, they kept playing and defendng right to the end and this result will hav the rest of league very worried.

Oldham used to be a bit of a bogey side with their plastic pitch and Andy Ritchie last minute goals etc years ago so nice to thrash them tonight. Happy days.

Yep, really enjoyed that. Without wishing to sound arrogant I think we could play even better in the final third, but Jaidi and Fonte were brilliant tonight and that gives everyone confidence. Appears to be a very impressive spirit and mentality in the players - some aspects of tonight felt like 'business as usual'.

Just back also. God a headache after all that screaming! Cannot believe what just happened...

I was there when Saints scored 6 with 6 different scorers.... away from home!!

Absolutely mental. Saints dominated every single position on the pitch, its not that Oldham played badly, Saints just played brilliantly. Not going to bother doing ratings because not one of the players deserves less that a 8. Brilliant brilliant BRILLIANT!

Yep just back myself. Oldham looked poor tonight but we made them look poor. The result was never in doubt, been a long time since I've had the feeling that we're NOT going to throw the game away.

Well done lads and the supporters too.

Nigel Nigel, take a bow.

(or just back at Hotel)

Still can't believe we scored 6! and 6 different scorers!!

Awesome display. Oldham could have got a goal back just before half time, which would have changed game, however we never gave up and kep pressing for the next goal. Glad this one was postponed and I could make a mid week fixture.

Liked OXO opener and Lallana celebrations. Guly looked great and liked him coming back at the end to stop a challenge.

When was the last time we scored 6 away and kept a clean sheet.

Quick lets head to the bar.

I was meant to be there (live and work in Manchester) but got stuck in work so couldn't make it. So whilst I'm delighted with a tremendous win, just gutted I wasn't there.

Apparently it was 1955 we last had 6 scorers in a match.

Ah, that would be why I can't remember it! I haven't seen them away that often, but to have been there tonight would have been something to treasure. Well done the 500.

view of an Oldham fan

seriously though we've been in this Division 14 years and I have never seen a team as good as the one we faced tonight, we did very little wrong tonight until it got to 3-0 then we just threw the towel in and brought on Brooke, Millar and Feeney. We'll play worse than that this season and win, in fact we already have done against Bournemouth and Swindon and I'm still going to Plymouth on Saturday

Just woken up, with sore head, forgot to post amid the beers last night, but fantastic night and one of the best performances in many years. Great to be able to say I was there. Thought we might struggle last night but we are simply playing at a gear above where we were even in the good run last season. Brilliant. Nigel - take a bow son. (actually, learn how to bow and wave, but thats another story...)

Brilliant result and performance. Great trip and well worth the journey and a day off work. Was even worth being 30mins late for work today as I slept through my alarm this morning.

I believe Oldham had only lost once at home this season conceding 10 goals in the process before last night. Makes it even more impressive.

How the hell did that mad scamble not end in a goal where Guly was lying on the ground trying to kick the ball in? How did three Oldham players miss an open goal (ish) just before half-time? A pity AOC had one chalked off as he looked onside from where I was sat :)

Great night, sore throat today and grinned all the way home. Hello to the three Saints lads in a silver Pug on their way back to Burnley. Get in!!!!

I wanted 7! In my supporting memory, 6 v Luton, 6 v Man Utd, 6 v Wolves, but never 7. But conceded 7 v Everton, Liverpool and Spurs. One day.

I saw Saints put 8 past Coventry City int he 80s at the Dell. Final score 8-2 Wallace was unplayable!

Cant really say but their is a bit of bad news to come out of last nights game, will come out over the next day or so,not for me to say tho.

What: your van broke down on the way back? Or was it the work van you knicked, and they will find out about it in the next few days?

well that was a pointless post then. If there's one thing that really ****es me off on this board it's when people come on and say 'I know something you don't know'. If you really aren't allowed to say then don't post bull**** like this purely for an ego trip

Going by your other posts, I would guess something to do with an injury to Adam? Either that or Chamberlin.

Didn't you see? He can't say

They were quicker, fitter, better, stronger, hungrier, and in fact, downright bloody lethal.... and that was the best performance by a visiting team in all the time we've been in the division and as good if not better than Man U's 6-2 Kanchelskis inspired win of 20 odd years ago!!!!

That's a quote off the oafc forum.

Don't tell me, Adkins has been offered the Liverpool job....?

Good stuff , can see myself on the celebration of the first goal, our support looks decent , good to see a few flags on display as well .

Fell onto the pitch?

Lallana went off injured, he was stretching out his hamstring the whole of the 2nd half. Wasn't exactly a secret was it

Well, that's what happens when you play your star player in a meaningless cup tie 72 hours before a crucial league game....

it might not be about AL but Barnards off field problem at the nightclub

Why would that bad news come from Tuesday's game?
