Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 I have ****ing loved being a Saints fan for the last 2 years. The attacking football, the goals, the wins. I've bloody loved it. More of the same please guys!!!
the saint in winchester Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 As Delboy said to Rodney one time .... we've 'ad worse days!
Saintandy666 Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 Won't be the same if we return to the Premiership. The Championship and League 1 are in my opinion much more exciting leagues to be in.
West End Saint Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Agreed it has been fantastic loved last season and after a poor start this season could & should be even better it is a good time to be a Saint lets enjoy the ride COYS

Agree but not sure where I want us to be, want to win the Championship but not go to the PL again its just not fun.

Which would you prefer, NPC or L1 ? Serious question. I personally cannot decide if winning games, often resoundingly and being thereabouts for the honours is sufficient compensation for not being amongst the cream of English football. What does everone else think ?

Noodles34 Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 whats the point then, if you want to stay in these **** leagues, then you are hoping that we lose a certain amount of games, so we dont go up! Jesus, I have had enough of that in the last five years thanks,

Golden Balls Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 I've loved it. When we were in the prem I knew no better. I thought it was the end of the world if we ever went down. Since then, I have enjoied the football so much more. That said, I want to see us back up there. I just dont like what come with it. Diving, wages, scandals, prices, winning less etc.
buctootim Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Basically most people just want to see us win more than we lose imo. If its a choice of being the whipping boys of the prem or great games in the NPC, I'd rather stay in the championship. But yes of course, if we could get a team to compete in the top 10 of the prem, I'd love it.
lambtiss Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 I agree with the majority of the posters on here. I got my League 1 season ticket last year along with Dad, my father in law, and a mate with a bit of trepidation. Would the football be of a poor, hoof it nature ? Would I care if we beat Dagenham and Redbridge when I didn't know a soul who played for them ? But do you know what, we have all loved it !! I have seen some of the best quality football in years (consistently), we have seen some cracking matches, honest football and refs who have tried to let the game flow a bit rather than issue a yellow card everytime some foreigner jumps 4 foot in the air. I am enjoying watching football as much as I did many years go in the Dell. It's made me realise there is Life after the Premiership and in many, ways it is better.
Papa Shango Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 Agree but not sure where I want us to be, want to win the Championship but not go to the PL again its just not fun. Why? Ask Stoke or Blackpool fans what do they prefer, Championship or Premiership? Don't recall anyone complaining when we were beating the likes of Arsenal and Man United and finishing 8th and getting to the FA Cup Final. Blackpool are mid table at the moment, so what makes people think we won't be able to hold are own? As long as we are clever and managed correctly we can be reasonably competitive in the top flight. Not sure why everyone thinks the Championship is such a wonderful league either. It's not like we were ever that good in it. Even in 2006/07 when we got to the play offs we were inconsistent and put in some absolute shocking performances at times. When I think of our time in the Championship, I remember rubbish players, and going to places like Preston, Hull and Sheffield Wednesday and getting stuffed out of sight. Give me the Premiership any day, where we can test ourselves against the very best.
ottery st mary Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 I am thinking we could really tear that Division 2 apart..... We would have God like status with teams like..Stockport and Lincoln... Big decision...up or down?
wild-saint Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 its great being in a lofty position in the league, winning games, playing great footy but if we dont start moving through the leagues we will lose our better players, we wont be able to attract good players due to lack of ambition and ultimately the attendances / finance will start to dwindle. If time could stop still without the big picture changing then yeah sure stay in L1 / NPC but the fact is time waits for no man and we must progress od whither away. Enjoy it whilst we can lads and look forward to tougher challenges ahead.
doddisalegend Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 The thing is down here we are a big fish (massive fanbase for this level, PL facilities) we win a lot more than we lose which is of course fun (although it feels much worse when we lose to brentford than it does when we lose to manure). The higher up the smaller a fish we become which is not so fun. Sadly these days PL is everything (and I hate that) if we don't keep moving forward the club will suffer, I've said it before but I could live with being a yoyo club myself smash the championship out of sight one year, have a year of PL football then back to snmashing the championship and repeat (throwing in a nice cup win every couple of years). I just can't see saints every being a regular top four club in the PL or a frenquent member of the champions league.
