Greenridge Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Can't be many managers who've (alledgedly) been offered 4 different jobs in as many months. His stock his high at the moment that's for sure.
buctootim Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Can't be many managers who've (alledgedly) been offered 4 different jobs in as many months. His stock his high at the moment that's for sure. He's done well in the short time he's been managing but Im surprised so many biggish clubs are prepared to take a risk on a 33 year old with only two years experience at one club.
saint_stevo Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Done deal apparently, just compo to settle
Justin C Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 There is a rumour he is off to Burnley, I think it would be strange if he went now.
georgeweahscousin Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 There is a rumour he is off to Burnley, I think it would be strange if he went now. What are you using? An Amstrad?
Justin C Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 What are you using? An Amstrad? Sorry my Spectram 128K +2 is a little slow!
SaintNeil90 Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Dont think this impacts Saints, our fate is in our own hands.
Crab Lungs Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Persoanlly I dont think he will leave them, not sure he has the bottle to leave nice safe little Bournemouth where he has probably got a job for life. I said to my mate he'll play the "hero"; he's done it before, he'll do it again. He'll go eventually though, especially as Eddie Mitchell keeps selling his best players...!
Miffy Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bournemouth/9360426.stm Burney back on again?
saint_stevo Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bournemouth/9360426.stm Burney back on again? ~Where have you been?
S-Clarke Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 I bet that move is more of him being ''pushed'' by Eddie Mitchell as the money they have been offered for him is too good to turn down? It does make him look a bit of a plank though after coming out 2 days ago and saying how he will stay, he loves the club etc. Would have probably been better for him if he moved the first time.
Saint_Ash Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 I think Burnley are in for him! He might go and work for Burney Inns though.
Window Cleaner Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bournemouth/9360426.stm Burney back on again? who cares anyway, whatever he does won't effect us one iota.
Dr Who? Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Nothing will stop the mighty Saints!!! Famous last words!
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 I'll lol if he does go after the unbelievably cringeworthy scenes outside Dean Court with about 10 Bompey fans chanting 'Eddie! Eddie!'. Plus Mitchell saying that he'd won the battle of the chairman or some sh*t.
OldNick Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Ive just been told that Palace are interested in him
warsash saint Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Ive just been told that Palace are interested in him I heard that Saints were after him !
ribbo Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 i hear burnley are in for howe? wont happen though, he's always in the treatment room.
OldNick Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 I heard that Saints were after him ! thats always the way I get a bit of info and someone betters it. Im off to the Western Union telegraph office now to see if i can get any more snippets
Jones91 Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 If Howe goes Bournemouth will play like us when Pardew left. That just leaves Saints, Brighton and Posh for the top 2 spots...
Saints foreva Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 If Howe goes Bournemouth will play like us when Pardew left. That just leaves Saints, Brighton and Posh for the top 2 spots... Sheffield Wednesday? Huddersfield? Both far better teams than Posh.
paris Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe looks set to be named as the new manager of Burnley, BBC Radio Solent understands. The 33-year-old said on Tuesday that he intended to stay at Dean Court after being linked with vacancies at Charlton and Crystal Palace. But after reportedly being the subject of an official approach from the Clarets, he could now be unveiled at Turf Moor as early as the weekend.
Chez Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bournemouth/9360426.stm Burney back on again? VIC 20 user?
Chez Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Sheffield Wednesday? Huddersfield? Both far better teams than Posh. with Wednesday signing the right kind of player IMO. Nice that we have them at home rather than away.

But after reportedly being the subject of an official approach from the Clarets, he could now be unveiled at Turf Moor as early as the weekend. So Howe didn't stay at Bournemouth because he loves the club, he stayed because he loved the club more than League One Charlton and Championship relegation favourites Crystal Palace ! If he goes to Burnley it will be interesting to see how Eddie Mitchell reacts after all his recent posturing.
trousers Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Ive just been told that Palace are interested in him I've heard that Skacel will be his first signing when he takes the Palace job
OldNick Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 if he even goes and has talks with Burnley, his loyalty and status must be questioned by the Cherries fans. Mitchell is probably driving him there for talks as Im pretty sure they are brassic
BotleySaint Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 I would find it rather amusing if he goes now after their elation that he is staying .. all the chanting outside and cheering and stuff... and then a few days later he's off somewhere else!
Scudamore Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 I'd probably have been questioning it on Tuesday when he came out with this interview: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bournemouth/9357904.stm Interviewer: What was the one factor that has kept you at this football club? Howe: I'd say the players, the players here. Sure someone boos at that point as well! Yep very careful not to gush about the club or the fans. Still parachute payments in effect, pretty good squad and a fanbase without massively high expectations. I'd say Burnley is a pretty wise move for him.
Matthew Le God Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Chris Powell close to becoming Charlton Athletic manager according to a BBC reporter. That is a big gamble, given his lack of experience. Seems a little "too nice" to be a manager.
beatlesaint Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 I would find it rather amusing if he goes now after their elation that he is staying .. all the chanting outside and cheering and stuff... and then a few days later he's off somewhere else! You would have to see the funny side of it yes........I wonder how the planks that chanted and virtually kissed his backside outside Dean Court Tuesday lunchtime will feel about Eddie Eddie Eddie if he does go ? And what possible reason/excuse will he come up with that wont make him look a pillock ? All very tedious......still dont think he has the guts to go tho ;-)

camdijk Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Close.... Is that General Melchetts' Speckled Jim? ;-)
Gingeletiss Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Looks like he's off to Burnley then! according to South today.

The 33-year-old said on Tuesday that he intended to stay at Dean Court after being linked with vacancies at Charlton and Crystal Palace. But he informed his players on Friday morning that he will join the Clarets after that evening's game at Colchester - his 100th game in charge.
hypochondriac Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 What a scumbag considering he said he was staying.

manji Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Hilarious ! Cant wait to see the fans reaction on the Sky Match tonight !
Weston Saint Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Good move for him and well deserved. Charlton are not guaranteed promotion and Crystal Palace likely to come down. Burnley is the best choice and gives him time to develop in a higher league and if he does the Premier Clubs will come knocking. I am sure Burnley will expect him to take them back to the Premier
doggface Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Lol at bompey if this is true. "I love the club" 48 hrs later "bye!"
latter day saint Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 bit of a slap in the face to the bompey fans ! Excellent
david in sweden Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Eddie Howe has texted solent to say he is making a decision tonight. It appears that the decision was whether to stay or go to Charlton - however they understant the previously rejected Palace have come back with another offer. What do you think this decision will mean for us? I feel if he departs Bournemouth they will drop away. He may have positive impact on Charlton so can't help thinking him going to palace would be best news for us tonight. Leaving B'mth trying to find new manager and asst with little money and Charlton looking for a 2nd choice. All it needs now is for someone to poach Gus Poyet from Brighton , and we'll have it made ..or ...?
dubai_phil Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 bit of a slap in the face to the bompey fans ! Excellent And the players!
CWD Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 I feel really sorry for Bournemouth fans. Really really not on from EH. So much for 'the most loyal man in football'! edit: good news for us though, they will slip away now along with Charlton imho
Justin C Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 I think it is a good move for him. He has nothing left to prove at Bournemouth and if he does a good job there over the next few years then a big club will come in for him.
