Mattio Posted 10 January, 2011 Posted 10 January, 2011 Just wondering whether a "like" button would be a good idea (like on HotUKDeals) might cut down on the amount of posts that say the same thing in reaction threads etc?
Deppo Posted 10 January, 2011 Posted 10 January, 2011 I think they have a "like" button on Facebook as well.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 10 January, 2011 Posted 10 January, 2011 I think they have a "like" button on Facebook as well. RedAndWhite91 likes this.
trousers Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 Just wondering whether a "like" button would be a good idea (like on HotUKDeals) might cut down on the amount of posts that say the same thing in reaction threads etc? Would Alpine Saint be happy to pay £5 for a facility he'd never use though? (sorry alps, couldn't resist...) :-)
Mattio Posted 11 January, 2011 Author Posted 11 January, 2011 I think they have a "like" button on Facebook as well. They do indeed, but I was giving an example of another forum that uses it
SuperMikey Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 They have this feature on quite a few forums, I think it's a good idea.
stevegrant Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 We can implement Facebook integration immediately, which would put "Like" buttons on every forum and thread, but my main concern is the effect this will have on site performance.
SuperMikey Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 Steve, I think Mattio means something more like this in the OP (at the bottom of the post): http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/f109/win-a-copy-of-football-manager-2011-t55845.html

Baj Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 We can implement Facebook integration immediately, which would put "Like" buttons on every forum and thread, but my main concern is the effect this will have on site performance. Steve, it wouldnt have any. It would just generate the extra code as html/jscript and the action of "like" would be called from the clients browser
Lighthouse Posted 30 January, 2011 Posted 30 January, 2011 I mentioned this to Baj last week. My idea was also to have a 'post of the day' box at the top of each forum. If you wanted to take it to another level, you could also have post and poster of the month, depending on who gets the most 'likes' on their posts.
