saint_stevo Posted 10 January, 2011 Posted 10 January, 2011 Set to be Charlton's new boss. Sideways move?
skintsaint Posted 10 January, 2011 Posted 10 January, 2011 cant see the point in that...might as well go for Ipswich.
Colinjb Posted 10 January, 2011 Posted 10 January, 2011 They are a bigger club, but he could have gone to Palace and kept them up. Bit of a shame for him.
Colinjb Posted 10 January, 2011 Posted 10 January, 2011 Busy day for managers. Paul Jewell in at Ipswich Keith Hill of Rochdale in talks with palace Charlton in talks with Howe Aldershot sack Kevin Dillon Any more for the story mill?
saint_stevo Posted 10 January, 2011 Author Posted 10 January, 2011 They are a bigger club, but he could have gone to Palace and kept them up. Bit of a shame for him. That's pretty much what i thought he would do
miserableoldgit Posted 10 January, 2011 Posted 10 January, 2011 I think that the Palace job and the pressure to keep them up would have been too big for him in the same way as I think being Saints manager would. He always comes across to me as a moaning, petulant little school boy when things go against him, and has anyone ever seen him smile?? I am not convinced that he has the confidence in himself that others seem to have in him. Time will tell of course.

Turkish Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 got to hand it to him, fair play for showing such loyalty, not many around like that anymore.
SuperMikey Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 Fair play to the guy, he does seem a bit petulant at times but he's obviously talented to get B'mouth to where they are with barely any funds and getting his best players sold off. If B'mouth don't go up this season then I reckon he will leave though, a bigger team will inevitably come in for him.
Chin Strain Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 (edited) Not sure about him (not his ability, i should add). 4 clubs have been interested this season (at least) and he hasn't gone to any. Maybe the clubs weren't right for him, but he'd probably have known that before he went to talk to them (wrong division / wrong end of the division) and he strung all of them, including Bompey, for a few days. It's starting to become a pantomime - maybe he's going to go to Burnley instead if they've got a bit of cash from the parachute and still have a chance of promotion. Personally I don't believe he was offered the Saints job (but the reliable info is that he applied so must have been pretty keen). More likely once it came out he wasn't first choice he decided he wasn't going to be second choice....which is fair enough. Whichever way you cut it, he's not staying because of loyalty, he's staying because he thinks there's a better offer down the line. Edited 11 January, 2011 by Chin Strain
Deppo Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 He's staying because he knows his limits. Fair play to him.
OVER THE HILL Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 got to hand it to him, fair play for showing such loyalty, not many around like that anymore. How can you say he's loyal when he keeps talking to other clubs? He will go when the money's right.
Thedelldays Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 How can you say he's loyal when he keeps talking to other clubs? He will go when the money's right. would you call matt le tissier a loyal person..?
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 I wish he was going as all he does is whine and moan after the matches during his interviews. He wile leave in the summer when he realises he cannot take them any further as they have no cash to stregthen the squad...shame but`s that`s how it is....

Thedelldays Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 lol at the cherries fans....kissing his arse a few days ago and he knew all along he was not staying.. he is completely full of himself. not a bad day...charlton and now bournemouth getting screwed over
corsacar saint Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Why all the fascination with Eddie Howe, the only people who can derail us from going up are the players, not an opposition manager.
dubai_phil Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 And this Ladies and Gentlemen would appear to be the classic example of The Salesman's favourite motto. Money Talks Bullsh1t walks Here endeth the lesson.
LostBoys Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 Hang on did he not pledge his support to Bournemouth just yesterday with much gushing and tales of when he was a lad at Bournemouth. Obviously the Burnley offer and the compensation was too much for Mad Eddie to forego.
hutch Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Personally, I think I'd rather he stayed where he is. Gob aside, I think he's done a reasonably good job there, and Burnley could potentially do us more harm next season than Bompey this.

He is done something they will never see again.. He has been amazing at bournemouth.!!!

Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 You watch his final 'gift' to us to beat Col U and leapfrog us in the table.
Crab Lungs Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Still makes me lol http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bournemouth/9357904.stm *cringe* at Bompey...
moon monkey Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 Eddie Howe had done such a great job and had handled himself so well. That interview is something I bet he regretted doing.
