United - Ticket Pricing & Policy Thread

Were there or were there not several threads all talking about the same thing? I'll answer.... yes there were. Good modding.

No.

My thread was specifically about the shrewsbury pricing, wheras the other threads were just "me me me" season ticket holders getting a pre-emptive moan in.

No it wasn't. Shrewsbury has been and gone. Your thread was about Man U pricing and was referring back to the Shrewsbury match in an attempt to adduce a premise on which the pricing should be decided. Your thinking was flawed but, in any event, was no more or less germane to any of the other ticketing threads as it was to your own.

I am no longer a season ticket holder due to the abolition of the payment plan . Now I just go when finances and work allow while I don't begrudge season ticket holders cheaper and or early tickets what I don't want is unlimited tickets so they can get them for every tom Richard and harry !

The other threads were about the allocation of the tickets, my thread was about the pricing in relation to the Shrewsbury precedent. Two separate subjects.

Not sure how workable that would be (logistically very complicated given that most ticket proably weren't purchased against a customer number) but Cortese will surely be liasing with Man Utd in order to reward our most loyal fans because he made such a big deal about it with shrewsbury.

NC made a big deal of some tin-pot chairman seeing his team play AWAY at a big ground and thinking he could make a few bucks from the home teams fans. NC decided that us, the most loyal fans, should not pay extra in order to increase Shrewsbury's share, who were only ever going to bring about 20 supporters. If he chooses to charge £30 now, it is because he feels that is the correct price considering the importance of the match and the strength of the opponent, and not so Man U can make a quick buck from our supporters. Not much wrong in that in my eyes!

I can't believe that people expect ticket prices will be,or should be, as low as £20 for this one! I'm expecting £30 and will be pleasantly surprised if it is anything less.

Being a season ticket holder, my ticket (and hopefully my actual seat) is guaranteed, but it's this sort of fixture which reminds the 'pay as you go' fans of the need to make sure they get their pruchases lodged against their customer number. It's not guaranteed obviously, but there's a fair chance that the 'general sale' tickets for this game will initially go on sale to fans who have attended one or more previous games and you will need to be able to prove you've done so.

It's worth stressing how few tickets might make it to general sale once season ticket holders have had a look in. Some real quick maths based on certain assumptions such as 12000 st holders and Man Utd receiving a 15% allocation means that we could only be looking at about 3600 tickets left if ST holders are allowed a 'plus one'.

Cortese should price match tickets to get the biggest income for the club in order to buy players for our Championship season.

I'm sure the armchair fans who come once a year wouldn't begrudge £40 to see the wonderful Man U in action.

Cortese has already made a big deal about wanting to "reward our most loyal fans" when he publicly went to war with shrewsbury who wanted to cash in - "a move designed only to line their pockets."

These are Cortese's own words. He was extremely rude to STFC and many on here backed his stance. If he now does the complete opposite it will speak volumes.

Indeed, which is why I don't think they should be allowed a "plus one".

For it to be the same situation, we would have to be playing at OT though, surely?

There is everything wrong about it if he decides to hike prices now. No matter how you might try to dress it up it would hypocritical.

To STFC we were a big draw and the gate receipts from such a draw keep clubs like that affloat. Man Utd have put us in the same position Shrewsbury were in with the prospect of a bumper pay day. So if we raise prices now it's no different to STFC wanting to cash in then.

Hasnt this already been done to death already?

But yeah, you are spot on, pricing for round 1 should be exactly the same as round 4. Silly of me.

Sorry, I was making a joke that was predicated on a confusion between "1/2" meaning "1 or 2" and "1/2" meaning "one half". I thought it was fairly obvious as no one attends "half a game" and so didn't need a winky.

Apologies if I have caused you to spend a fiver unnecessarily!

It made me laugh.

Gotta laugh. Today was our freebie Golf Tournament day for working for the Ladies Golf back in December.

Nice event on the Desert Classic course you'll see on telly in a month's time with Tiger chasing the chicks. Costs about 120 quid normally, and we get a nice dinner and free booze.

I came off the course to find 5 text messages. First 4 were from people down here said whatever the price can you get me a ticket. I'm thinking WTF? Was only when I opened the 5th one from a Citeh fan who said brilliant you can turn the feckers over I realised we'd got the Mancs.

FFS what is wrong with the plastic mancs. At least let me get off the course & into the bar and work out what you are talking about!

Oh the answer was - let's meet for dinner in the week (you can pay) and let's discuss what your needs are before I post your contact details on the "Ticket Pricing & Policy thread"...

never a truer word said. although dune is alone in this, and i'm pretty sure he's just having a giggle anyway.

Not at all. It's perfectly reasonable to expect cortese to wish to keep prices for the fixture low after the fuss he made about the Shrewsbury game and insulting way he treated that club.

Exactly. Whereas, there is nothing "me me me" about this post. Nothing at all.

As an aside, I thought "me me me" was central to your socio-political stance?

Really dont get the fuss. I couldnt think of anything I'd hate more than to shell out £40 to watch us get spanked by Man Utd's B team with their fans lording it over us.

The only thing I'm excited about is giving Cortese the opportunity to see what Southampton in the Premier League would be like and hopefully he invites Liebherr's daughters/family so they can see it too.

No it wont, tickets will be £30 +, its a business based around supply and demand ffs, I dont remember NC "going to war", I remember him setting his prices for his company and having it agreed with the FA and telling the Shrewsbury chairman thats the way it is.

Get over it Dune, you've made your point, very few others on here agree by the looks of it, and many wouldnt change their mind even if you had a reasonable arguement. You're just making yourself look bitter, that reminds me, time for a beer!

I've just emailed the ticket office asking them to restrict home sales to data base fans, but allow them to buy more than one ticket each. i think this should help eliminate the problem of a stale atmosphere due to away fans in the home end.

I'm not accusing him of cashing in, i'm welcoming the fact that Nicola is a principled man and will therefore offer discounted prices for the Man Utd game. If he doesn't then clearly questions must be raised.

Perhaps he could consider dropping the Ticket Tax for one game

And charging 30 quid for a ticket

Would that work?
