United - Ticket Pricing & Policy Thread

He probably wanted to reward the loyal 10,400 that bothered to turn up against Shrewsbury and will want to make money out of the other 22,000 that will turn up for this one. I, for one, don`t blame him.

I would have thought he will reward STH before people who turned up for a single cup game

Dune is also forgetting Man Utd get a large share of the gate. They will know that Saints could sell out the stadium with £30 tickets and still have many people unable to get tickets, so why would they agree to lower? Both teams decide together the pricing structure.

As long as I get 1st option on my season ticket seat and a +1 seat before they go on general sale, I'l be happy.

Let's hope the loyal fans are able to get tickets ahead of those glory seekers who come out of the woodwork for big games like this. I unfortunately can't afford a season ticket but try to get to 1 or 2 games a month : )

Hate to say it, but I can't see the tickets being £15 for this one. When you have the world's biggest team playing Man Utd (;)) you know people will buy tickets regardless of the price. I reckon we can expect between £20-£25 adult price for this game, potentially a few quid less if the game is moved to Sunday 30th as it will almost certainly then be televised and we could be at risk of losing a couple of thousand of plastics who were planning on going.

Still, £20 is a lot to watch our arses get handed to us!

It all depends on which team they are going to watch and support. If i go, undecided yet as it will bring out all the part timers and mongs, then i will be going to watch Southampton. It'll be interesting to see the crowd for this one. My one big hope is that rather than the embarassing "Liverpool" Chants to the Utd fans last time the 20k regualars that will be at SMS, sing to the 10k part timers in the home end "You only came to see Utd"

No he isn't.

It's quite simple.

Shrewsbury match = supply capacity way outstripping demand, therefore high prices are artificial and punitive and tantamount to a rip-off.

Man U match = demand way outstripping supply capacity, therefore natural price rises.

and penalise the poorer fans?

in order to reward our most loyal fans

So in this case all the people that went to the first 3 rounds of the cup get tickets for £20, those who didn't pay £30.

Loyal fans rewarded, part time hangers on who only come for the big games pay for the privilege.

I don't really see why ST's should get a "plus one". It's a gesture of thanks by the club when it happens but there's no sensible principle behind it.

I'm sure it will be "database only" but I expect after ST holders have been provided for it will be general sale.

Arse, despite being an extremely loyal fan i probably wont be on the database as my mates always got me my tickets for the one time since relegation from the PL i have been, i can assure there is no more loyal fan than me though. Looks like i could be f*cked.

It didn't take long for a "I'm a better fan than you" thread to appear.

Ok, I'll bite.

Dune, it's got absolutely nothing to do with that.

Season ticket holders have paid good money for their seats.

There's no reason why they shouldn't be given first option as to whether they'd like to keep their seat for cup games too.

It should be a given IMO.

Not sure how workable that would be (logistically very complicated given that most ticket proably weren't purchased against a customer number) but Cortese will surely be liasing with Man Utd in order to reward our most loyal fans because he made such a big deal about it with shrewsbury.

Yes, I know what you mean.

Ever since the Cup Final I have always been fortunate enough to delegate my ticket purchasing responsibilities to a mate and consider anything which prevents me from obtaining a ticket for any match I choose at a price convenient to me to be something of a disgrace.

Half a game a month?

Pathetic.

Excuse me - I try to get to 1 or 2 games a month, I have 2 young children and would love to go to more games but I cannot afford to! I shall be supporting Saints for the Man U game at the stadium if I am lucky enough to get a ticket or at home with the radio by my side.....

Have just signed up as a full member as I am not having someone call me pathetic!

Sorry, I was making a joke that was predicated on a confusion between "1/2" meaning "1 or 2" and "1/2" meaning "one half". I thought it was fairly obvious as no one attends "half a game" and so didn't need a winky.

Apologies if I have caused you to spend a fiver unnecessarily!

Hardly been this season as this is the age of austerity and it's just too expensive, but if I do decide to go (and manage to get a ticket) it'll be a amusing seeing all the super supporters whinging because they didn't get off their arses early doors. As with most fixtures like this if you want a ticket you'll get a ticket. That said i'm not that fussed and i'd rather attend a league match anyway.

I got some stick last week when I posted that I wanted us to all out to try and win the cup. A lot of posters said they couldn't care less about the cup and that they weren't bothered if we went out. Therefore I'm hoping tickets will be easy to get for those of us non season ticket holders who have been to each round so far.

Agreed. A lot of people will only be there to see Man Utd. FACT.

Welldone for changing the thread title and making it totally irrelevent to the point it was intended.

This thread is supposed to be about Cortese's public feud with Shrewsbury in relation to pricing for the Man utd game.

A point which didn't take into account the effects of supply and demand. 28k home tickets will all be sold vs Utd soon after going on sale, with many left disappointed without tickets so the price can be higher as I'm sure Man Utd would want as well. Saints were never going to sell 31k home end tickets vs Shrewsbury no matter what the price.

I think first phase should be season ticket holders should get first choice of their seats, then second phase should be season tickets holders can buy a couple of tickets for their mates, third phase season ticket holders can buy tickets to sell at exorbitant prices outside the ground to any tom **** or harry that can afford £150.00 a ticket to help finance next years season ticket. :)

So because you and some power crazed mods don't agree with an argument there is no argument to be had. Brilliant.

What has that got to do with the pricing policy for the Shrewsbury game in relation to the pricing policy for the Man Utd game?

One thing I'd say about old Rupes was that he had the ticket priorites pretty much spot on. Perhaps he should come back and run the ticket office for us.

After the JPT and the Skate game last year a decent fair system should have been put in place.

I'm not the best fan we have, but I'm pretty sure I'm in the top 28,000. There should be some sort of nod towards purchase history.

I am the best fan we have but my sister in laws cousin had a 48th birthday party yesterday which meant i couldn't go, i have work commitments 3 out of 4 saturdays, had 5 christenings and 19 funerals to attend this season alone had no money due to spending far to much on toy robots. Work wanted me to go in on the 29th when we were orignally due to play Charlton but as i am such a loyal fan my boss said i can have the day off. I've also just had £33 inheritance come through from one of the funerals i have attended so can afford the ticket and booking fee for this one, i just hope i can get one, if i cant it'll be outrageous.

I have absolutely no interest in football - where do I get my ticket?

£25 for STH

£30 for non STH

Now that sounds fair to me

likewise, but the Manure fans would have to get offered tickets for £25 so they effectively would see the game for less than many of our own fans. I doubt our club will go for that. It will be £30. Out of interest at what price would people actually give it a miss, £40? £45?

Not at all, 5 threads on ticketing policy (with some talking about the Shrewsbury precedent) and just one on the football match seemed a little disproportional.

And what about 500 threads from NickG talking about the same thing?

And my thread was just about the shrewsbury precedent, and now it's full of st holders saying how theyre the best fans in the world and how they deserve to super treatement when that has nothing at all to do with the thread i started.
