NickG Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Appanently no tickets on sale to anyone who didn't think we should try to win Blackpool game.
moonraker Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Already had 2 plastic Manc fans I know phoning me to ask if I can get them a ticket, a two word reply was all they got F%%K off
doddisalegend Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 I'm sure it will be on the telly were they won't watch it anyway.................
RedWillie Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 more like those that were at the Shrewsbury or Cheltenham games !!!
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Us poor block 42ers will be displaced again.
dune Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 (edited) Thread title should read something like "Shrews tamed in ticket price row - as Cortese fights "to reward our most loyal fans". But some mod decided to change it. I think it's great we have such a principled chairman. £15 - £20 for Man Utd tickets sounds great. Thankyou Nicola. Edited 9 January, 2011 by dune
Huffton Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 If so, can we please have a couple of days for ST holders to claim there own seats for this one.
miserableoldgit Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 If so, can we please have a couple of days for ST holders to claim there own seats for this one. Too right!!
Nexstar Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Have to move anyway Itchen North or block 41 then
ladysaint Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Cortese promised at the dinner that he would in future offer ST holders a period of time to claim their own seats lets hope he sticks to it.
Nexstar Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 An interesting point, last time we needed the money, now we don't. Would be nice if I didn't have to pay £30 this time
ladysaint Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Hope we dont have to move seats, wouldnt it be easier to put them in blocks 1 and 2 and leave blocks 41 and 42 as they are.
dune Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 It didn't take long for a "i'm a better fan than you" thread to appear.
St Chalet Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Supply and Demand surely Dune, unless you are going all socialist on us?
benjii Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Minimum price allowed is £15 but I can't see United agreeing to that.
benjii Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Given that league matches are a minimum of £22 for a standard adult it's hard to complain if this match is nearer £30.
dune Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Supply and Demand surely Dune, unless you are going all socialist on us? Normally i'd agree BUT Cortese has already nailed his colours to the mast with his treatment of Shrewsbury. It would be hypocritical for him to want to cash in now the boot is on the other foot.
Liquidshokk Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Just went to double check my order history for the cup games and both online ticket servers are down due to unusually high traffic! People realise you can't buy them yet, right? Lol
SuperMikey Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Hate to say it, but I can't see the tickets being £15 for this one. When you have the world's biggest team playing Man Utd () you know people will buy tickets regardless of the price. I reckon we can expect between £20-£25 adult price for this game, potentially a few quid less if the game is moved to Sunday 30th as it will almost certainly then be televised and we could be at risk of losing a couple of thousand of plastics who were planning on going. Still, £20 is a lot to watch our arses get handed to us!
Liquidshokk Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Cortese promised at the dinner that he would in future offer ST holders a period of time to claim their own seats lets hope he sticks to it. Did he? I heard it was mentioned by a guest but didn't ever hear of his response. That's good.
benjii Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 I'm sure there will be. In case it has escaped people's notice, the last few rounds were hardly massively in demand. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if ST holders were allowed a "plus one".
Liquidshokk Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 It didn't take long for a "i'm a better fan than you" thread to appear. Not about being a better fan you WUM. it's about having paid so much more to the club and therefore deserving this small kind gesture.
JibMcdo Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 32000 x £20 or 32000 x £30 Will be a tricky decision for Cortese.
Huffton Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 It didn't take long for a "i'm a better fan than you" thread to appear. Nothing to do with 'being a better fan'. A fixture like this will almost certanly sell out, unfortunately a good deal of people going will only be going to watch MU. I don't think its unreasonalbe to offer ST holders their own seats first, then people on the database or those with a blackpool ticket or whatever.

benjii Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Normally i'd agree BUT Cortese has already nailed his colours to the mast with his treatment of Shrewsbury. It would be hypocritical for him to want to cash in now the boot is on the other foot. What guff. Shresbury wanted to charge high prices for a match that hardly anyone gave a toss about. They wanted to squeeze the maximum out of the small number of people who wanted to go. Demand for this will be far in excess of capacity and therefore it is only right that the prices go up. No hypocrisy at all.
JibMcdo Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 The clear distinction here is that St.Marys was not going to be full against Shrewsbury. It will be full against United regardless of price.
Matthew Le God Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 I think it's great we have such a principled chairman. £15 - £20 for Man Utd tickets sounds great. Thankyou Nicola. There is a difference though. I wouldn't pay £30 to watch Saints vs Shrewsbury, but I would to watch Saints vs Man Utd. As a lot of other people would as well and Saints will have more people wanting to go then they have seats at St Mary's. Supply and demand...
benjii Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 32000 x £20 or 32000 x £30 Will be a tricky decision for Cortese. Exactly.
ladysaint Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Did he? I heard it was mentioned by a guest but didn't ever hear of his response. That's good. Well I asked the question originally and he said that he was not aware that it meant a lot to us ST holders to be offered our own seats first and promised that he would in future give ST holders priority to buy their own seats.
dune Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 32000 x £20 or 32000 x £30 Will be a tricky decision for Cortese. But Cortese is a man of principle. A statement on Saints' website said: "Bearing in mind the opposition, and the number of other significant home matches during November, the club had wished to push through discounted rates for this match, in order to reward our most loyal fans. "However, our opponents from League Two were looking to cash in on their trip to St Mary's by charging both sets of fans full price tickets, an over ambitious move designed only to line their pockets. "As no compromise was able to be reached, the matter was handed to the FA, and the Club are pleased to announce that they have sided with Saints."
SuperMikey Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Surely you qualify for a student discount anyway. No student discount offered by the club as far as I know, I fall into the Young Adult category, so I pay £17 in advance (plus £3 fee) or £19 on the day for a league ticket. But probably the vast majority of spectators at SMS are in the Adult category anyway, hence the focus on Adult ticket prices in my post.
miserableoldgit Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 It didn't take long for a "i'm a better fan than you" thread to appear. I normally quite enjoy your posts and the way you bait certain elements on here but since the draw you are coming across as a bit of a knob - more than usual some would say!
dune Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 The clear distinction here is that St.Marys was not going to be full against Shrewsbury. It will be full against United regardless of price. Nicola wanted discounted rates "in order to reward our most loyal fans" when we played the Shrews so I think you are showing an extremely low regard for his integrity by suggesting he might want to cash in now.
Turkish Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 do you think there will be a purchasing restriction. Obvously STH's first but what about people like me? I am a loyal saints fan but due to work, money and 48 family funerals, birthdays and Barmitzvahs i couldn't afford to go this season or to the Charlton game originally on that day but now we have Man Utd i have managed to find £30 from somewhere, do you think i'll get a ticket?
Sour Mash Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 People seem to missing the point. I know he's only doing it for a bit of banter, but Dune is right.

So bearing in mind the opposition is Manchester United.....
dune Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 People seem to missing the point. I know he's only doing it for a bit of banter, but Dune is right. I am and I am.
trousers Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Not about being a better fan you WUM. it's about having paid so much more to the club and therefore deserving this small kind gesture. if it's about who pays more money to the club i usually pay more on a pay-as-you-go basis than a season ticket holder does over the course of a season. Does that make me equally deserving...? ;-)
dune Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 So bearing in mind the opposition is Manchester United..... And Saints were a big club relative to Shrewsbury town. Nicola can't have it both ways or he will be a hypocrite.
SparkySaint Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 £25 for STH £30 for non STH Now that sounds fair to me
JustMike Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 bit harsh accusing him of cashing in before anything has even been agreed! Dont forget that both clubs have to agree, if they dont then it goes to FA, who will side with Man Utd.
benjii Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 People seem to missing the point. I know he's only doing it for a bit of banter, but Dune is right. No he isn't. It's quite simple. Shrewsbury match = supply capacity way outstripping demand, therefore high prices are artificial and punitive and tantamount to a rip-off. Man U match = demand way outstripping supply capacity, therefore natural price rises.
miserableoldgit Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 Nicola wanted discounted rates "in order to reward our most loyal fans" when we played the Shrews so I think you are showing an extremely low regard for his integrity by suggesting he might want to cash in now. He probably wanted to reward the loyal 10,400 that bothered to turn up against Shrewsbury and will want to make money out of the other 22,000 that will turn up for this one. I, for one, don`t blame him.
doddisalegend Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 F uck off plastic if you were a real fan like me you'd have gone to at least one game like I did last season with the JPT final.
benjii Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 £25 for STH £30 for non STH Now that sounds fair to me Yes, that would be a fair structure IMO.
Spudders Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 bit harsh accusing him of cashing in before anything has even been agreed! Dont forget that both clubs have to agree, if they dont then it goes to FA, who will side with Man Utd. So true
Nexstar Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 £25 for STH £30 for non STH Now that sounds fair to me Sounds like a very good plan
benjii Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 And the notion that Man U will agree to £15 or that the FA's arbitration panel will agree to £15 (the minimum permissible amount) for a game that is likely to attract a 30k+ sell-out is clearly nonsense.
dune Posted 9 January, 2011 Posted 9 January, 2011 bit harsh accusing him of cashing in before anything has even been agreed! Dont forget that both clubs have to agree, if they dont then it goes to FA, who will side with Man Utd. I'm not accusing him of cashing in, i'm welcoming the fact that Nicola is a principled man and will therefore offer discounted prices for the Man Utd game. If he doesn't then clearly questions must be raised.
