Rory Posted 8 January, 2011 Posted 8 January, 2011 I notice the now infamous "Taxi for Do Prado" thread has been closed. Is it any coincidence that he's been on fire since it was posted on here? Yay!
PokingFun Posted 8 January, 2011 Posted 8 January, 2011 Yep, definitely a coincidence as I beleive he cannot speak English let alone read it ;-) ... great goal by the man today!
Saintandy666 Posted 8 January, 2011 Posted 8 January, 2011 If his form dips now the thread is closed...
John Boy Saint Posted 8 January, 2011 Posted 8 January, 2011 Loved it when he was stood on the sideline waiting to come on and the whole stadium was singing his name, that is something we have not seen at Saints for a very long time. From the view I had of his goal from The Chapel what a sublime strike.

From the view I had of his goal from The Chapel what a sublime strike. I echo your sentiments, it was good to see and hear alot of us chanting for him as he was waiting to come on, it must have been highly motivating for him. I don't think his performances have been up to much until the last few games but i hope his current form becomes his standard level. I was right behind his goal today and it was a cracker, unfortunately our view wasnt the best for me, can't wait to see it on tv tonight.
doddisalegend Posted 8 January, 2011 Posted 8 January, 2011 From Nigels bit in todays Programme "Our Brazillian forward is settling in well here at Southampton and understands more of the culture we have and the standards required of hard work and team ethic" Which kind of reads to me as he was a bit of a lazy git when he arrived but now he has pulled his finger out he's turning into a good player.
VectisSaint Posted 8 January, 2011 Posted 8 January, 2011 I suspect even Guly could get the meaning of "Taxi for Do Prado", the Portuguese is vaguely similar after all: "Táxi para Do Prado" I do hope the **** on Sky has stopped calling him Julie by now
S-Clarke Posted 8 January, 2011 Posted 8 January, 2011 The next thing we need to do in January is either get him signed on loan for the rest of the season, or tie him up on a perm. deal. It would be gutting to lose him now that he's finally getting going here.
hamster Posted 8 January, 2011 Posted 8 January, 2011 It's Nigel Adkins that we need to tie up; replacing Nigel would be a monumental task should a big club (LOL) come knocking. Thinking of all the players that he's git surging forward careerwise is quite astonishing. What's his contract term? They call Wenger 'The Professor' I'd love Arsenal in the next round, it would be like the Sorcerors Apprentice all over.

Maybe I missed an announcement on the OS but good news, this seems to confirm that he is, or soon will be, permanent. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6647318,00.html?
Rory Posted 11 January, 2011 Author Posted 11 January, 2011 Guly's going to get free taxis anywhere around Southampton at this rate.
NickG Posted 11 January, 2011 Posted 11 January, 2011 how many days until end of season? About 110? Thats another 50 goals.

It would be gutting to lose him now that he's finally getting going here. and more importantly... what a waste of a great song it would be!

Guly has agreed to make his loan move from Cesena permanent, a decision Adkins welcomes with open arms. "Guly came on and had an effect on the match with a fantastic strike," said Adkins. "He's a marquee player. He's a joy to watch. His attitude is tremendous. He's signed long term, he's committed himself, for me he is a magnificent signing." I'm pretty sure this bit was about Lallana was it not ?

Those comments are all about Lallana from the Saints PLayer interview. Very bad journalism
david in sweden Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 (edited) From Nigels bit in todays Programme "Our Brazillian forward is settling in well here at Southampton and understands more of the culture we have and the standards required of hard work and team ethic" Which kind of reads to me as he was a bit of a lazy git when he arrived but now he has pulled his finger out he's turning into a good player. TBF, he's always played in Latin countries. The temperatures are rarely down to zero, half of their season is players in blazing sunshine and almost anyone can break into a sweat in running 20 metres. Having worked with many different nationalities (here in Sweden) I can tell you that the " language problem" is often pretty low on the list. Getting to know the "job culture " of the workplace, adjusting to the climate and adjustng to other people's food habits take more of a precedence. NA is right in suggesting that the " football culture shock " in England has surprised Guly, but he's really muscled down to it and has scored 5 times in the last 4 games ..and given a few assists. 8 goals since coming here is comparable with most others in the squad, and so I don't really care what Merson thinks of his footballing ability..anyone with that striking-rate would be first on my team sheet. qwertySFC Posted 12 January, 2011 Posted 12 January, 2011 I have heard today he has been offered a 3 year deal is on the table - make of it what you want - I have no reason to doubt the person who has a close association with Guly in a non football matter - time will tell if the information is credible
qwertySFC Posted 14 January, 2011 Posted 14 January, 2011 Same person - 1 million Euros and a 3 year deal is on the table - time will tell if there information is up to scratch -
