shane d Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 A letter will be collected tomorrow morning from there camp and delivered to our camp. that said, it does not mean arsenal will be signing him, it just means that a letter with an offer will be in. Personal i think he should leave for the good money thrown about but be loaned back to us.(. I Know the driver whose first job in the morning is to go to collect from there solicitors and take to ours.)

It makes no sense to do it that way when they could for no cost or time be faxed or even emailed. Do you really think Torquay United would send a courier to Carlise with a transfer bid for one of their players when they could just fax them? Edited 18 January, 2011 by Matthew Le God

I'd guess contracts have to be be paper though? like house purchases. Not saying there is anything in it, but if there were, a firm bid and draft contract could be couriered.

What grade of parchment paper will this letter be written on (with quill and ink one assumes)? And will it carry the personal seal of King Wenger the Great? I know of a man in the hamlet of Wolverhampton with a scanner in the roof of his roundhouse.

If this is even pretend true, why would a driver be told the contents of an envelope from a solicitor? Also, if it is coming from one solicitor to another what in the world is to say that it is from Arsenal fc to Southampton Fc? Your efforts at being ITK = 1/10 just for gaining a response.

I think someone posted a few weeks back he was still training with us and hoping to earn a short term contract. Murty was comentating on 5 live sports extra for our game against...... erm... think Blackpool but I forget but he did say he is still with us and has speant the best part of a year being taken care of by our top class medical staff and facilities. He was definately talking like he wants to be part of our club and its future. Could just be talking us up while we carry on trying to fix him but I would rather hear players talk good things about our club. Im sure he also said when AOC came on as a sub that its the last thing the opo's defenders want as he is lightening quick and will cause them problems. Think he was on for a couple of minutes before he 1st broke through and nearly bagged a goal. Could almost hear Murts smiling on the radio. lol

up and away Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Mark wants Alex to stay at saints. again up and away talks cr*p. The power of the handbag is strong today, from a wannabe mod with half the forum on ignore. All I did was to underline a couple of points that do not make sense. Primarily when you look at Adkins comments "His manager Nigel Adkins says he only wants to sell the 17 year old striker to a club who will nurture his talent and help him to develop" , you have to ask yourself why Would Adkins care who the lad went to? If he's going to leave us then his priority is to get the maximum fee possible. Just where do you think Adkins would get this slant from? I can't see any further than from the lad or his father. To me this indicates that Adkins and Mark Chamberlain have discussed the matter and the outcome of any move, otherwise these comments make no sense. Previously Mark Chamberlain has been at pains to point out that his development will be best served by staying at Saints. Just recently this has not been the case and the only comment has been in regarding the ridiculous amount of money being talked about. I don't know if Oxo will go or stay, that will be down to the club being right for the boy and the money being right for Saints. Chamberlain has obviously put his foot down and said he will not be going to the highest bidder if it is not right for the lads progress. Something obviously the club has acquiesced to by the nature of Adkins remarks. Wenger recently stated he had not expressed an interest, unless you believe he suddenly starts lying. Whether that is still the same if the lad expresses an interest for Arsenal alone and something can be done on the price, who knows? If Mark Chamberlain wanted to stop all this speculation and remove all the distractions going on around his son he could do so very easily.
Chez Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 there is simply no way he will be a first team player in the prem by the end of season.....not a chance in hell.. are you saying he will be staying at SFC or are you saying he is not good enough? If the latter then IMO he'd get into the Livepool first team right now they are so light on the right side. Jonjo Selvey gets in their first team at present.

True, but Oxo wants a PREMIER League career. He goes to Liverpool (who have stated WHO their transfer targets are) and he'll be playing us again next year

aintforever Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 im saying that no player in division 3 will leave and walk into the first 11 of the clubs linked with OxO...not a chance in hell He obviously won't walk into the first starting XI but I wouldn't be surprised if he got a few games for Liverpool this season if he went, they are utter ****e at the moment.

buctootim Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 Arsenal tracksuits have been delivered to Alex's house this evening. They could have sent the offer with them. Saved on the courier and AOC could have dropped it off on his way to training tomorrow.

Not having a dig at you personally, but that is the most far fetched thing I have ever heard in my life. Offers are sent in via fax usually, or by some form of electronic copy. How would the driver know what's in the letter though before he's even collected it...?

St_Tel49 Posted 18 January, 2011 Posted 18 January, 2011 I now believe this has been instigated by Oxo or his father, some relevant points Liverpool show a determined interest in player. His father talks about the staggering amounts being bandied about, without denying anything. Wenger denies being involved with an approach for the player. Adkins comes out with a convoluted message that we will do the best for the player and that includes the club he would sell him on to! To me this signals that the Chamberlains have decided to cash in, but want the lad to go to a club where he is not stuck in the reserves and a chance to progress. Looking at things logically, Arsenal appear the perfect club for him to join. The problem is, I don't believe Arsenal want the lad, well not at this price. They have extra ordinary young talent at the present and it's difficult to see if they can guarantee anything or if he represents a vital need. It seems the clubs offering the money are not the first choice and Saints would be reluctant to sell on the cheap. Wenger does not do politics so I would be pretty sure his comments at the time were true. And Adkins is definitely no politician, virtually spelling things out in the attempt at an explanation. Evidence? What you are describing is pure speculation but you are phrasing it as though it were truth.

If Mark Chamberlain wanted to stop all this speculation and remove all the distractions going on around his son he could do so very easily. It is in the club's interests. If they wish to attract the next Oxlade Chamberlain coming through, they will portray themselves as a club that isn't entirely motivated by greed. One that looks out for the interests of the individual. Sure they will want to get a good wedge, but being greedy won't help them in the long term.

Oh, I think they just did. next stop Aresenal, Man City, Liverpool, no Fulham. I think we'd all bit a bit surprised, and mighty peeved if this one came true. But when your only transfer story is Darren Bent what else do you write about.

Jimmy_D Posted 19 January, 2011 Posted 19 January, 2011 Ahahaha I think he's staying. The newspapers just can't comprehend that a League One club might be able to keep hold of a player, that a player might want to stay here despite all the media pressure, they're used to creating their own transfer stories by getting players to move through media pressure. 'They've turned away so many clubs, but they're a tiny league one club so he must be leaving, so let's link him with the next one that shows an interest.' Fulham are favourites to sign him now? I'm a heck of a lot more confident of keeping hold of him if that's true, I believe we're destined to be above Fulham in the next few seasons and the ethos at the club at the moment shows the players believe that too.
Red and White Army Posted 19 January, 2011 Posted 19 January, 2011 The newspapers just can't comprehend that a League One club might be able to keep hold of a player, that a player might want to stay here despite all the media pressure, they're used to creating their own transfer stories by getting players to move through media pressure. /QUOTE] The press don't make players move, that is ridiculous. Cortese, Adkins or AOC could instantly quash these January rumours by saying "AOC is not moving/I am not moving". The fact that none of them have made a categorical statement is very telling.
trousers Posted 19 January, 2011 Posted 19 January, 2011 I was under the impression, that his father had be quoted as saying he was happy at St Marys, or do we want this in writing! Being happy is not unequivocal though, is it? I was happy at my last job but still moved on to another one because I thought I'd be even happier. Turned out I was right. Nothing needed in writing. Just a painfully simple one line statement to then press from the Chamberlains would suffice: "I/he is staying at Saint for the rest of the season" That said, part of me suspects that the club (Cortese) are happy to let the speculation grow (indeed, he MAY even have something to do with stoking up the story) as we'll come put the other side as a force to be reckoned with (if he stays of course)
ericofarabia Posted 19 January, 2011 Posted 19 January, 2011 To put and end to all the idle speculation The Club should announce a "put up or shut" statement out to all those supposedly interested clubs. If he is intending to go / or is to be released - we need the money now - not at 11.59pm on the last day of the transfer window FFS Ideally we keep him and build up the squad with a few 11.59 pm bargains!!.

trousers Posted 19 January, 2011 Posted 19 January, 2011 (edited) Mr Claridge asesses the Chamberlain situation in his video blog today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/steveclaridge/2011/01/claridge_kicks_off_10.html "Absolutely no way should that lad be moving" "He's not Theo Walcott. Theo was way ahead of him at that age. And we've seen how long it's taken Theo to settle at Arsenal" "He's at a very, very good club that will probably get promoted" Nothing earth shattering there then Edited 19 January, 2011 by trousers
