Guys, it was obvious that AOC was off when Adkins missed the chance to deny it in that interview a couple of days ago.. then mentioned that the team was bigger than any one individual. We never had any chance of keeping him if he wanted to move, and to be honest he would be absolutely mad to turn down a megabucks move to Arsenal. I hate it too, but rationally I would do exactly the same thing if I were AOC.

Chamberlain’s transfer "is expected" to be ratified in the transfer window

Also it speculates that there might of might not be a loan back. It was mentioned yesterday that IF he is sold, we would NOT get him back on loan.

Lazy Journo's again, I think.

Whatever the truth of the latest press speculation it's as plain as the nose on your face that AOC will be playing at a higher level than this before very long. For my money he was easily our best player yesterday, the proof of this being opposing teams are starting to single him out and pay him the compliment of giving him what they used to call 'special attention' in the bad old days - he'll have to get used to that.

We'll do very well to keep him.

according to this mornings paper..The STAR.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/172244/-10m-Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain-heads-for-Arsenal/

No if's or buts, they are claiming we have done the deal..:uhoh::x:x

This sounds as if the part time journos on The Star had suddenly found there was a large space to be filled in their column.

maybe no-one had read Arsene Wengers denial of this story on some of Fridays sites.

.or is everyone playing their cards close to their chest ?

If we were someone like Everton it would be very unlikely we would be able to keep him or he would want to stay.

He will, and probably quite rightly leave.

Its just when and for how much.

Adkins would be a fool to say he is never leaving.

There is a question mark! Didn't mean to upset you but there is another thread with all the other paper speculation and this thread misled me and guess it would others.

Thought he would have gone to Spurs as Arry discovered and nutered him? did'nt he?

Neutered him?

Nuttered him?

Just absolute ******, I can't believe anyone taking this seriously. Wenger stated publically there has been no contact on Friday. He has not lied about these things before, why would he start now? All this lazy **** of an ink smudger has done is to take the Walcott deal and line that up against Oxo. Why would we need to take a part payment, we are not in a forced position as we were with Walcott? Then with still 3 years on Oxo's contract, why would we let his go mid-season , something I doubt even him or his family would want. Everyone at Saints has said there has been no contact and just like Wenger, not in the business of making things up. There has been no price mentioned, so amazingly it comes up exactly the same as Theo!

Has any club ever bought a young player and then immediately loaned that player back to their original club?

This kind of thing is always in press speculation about lower league youngsters and Prem suitors but has it ever happened? I can't think of any.

What an absolute bullsh*t rumour spouted by the Star. Just lazy journalism going along with all the other unsubstantiated murmurs and applying so called "facts" to it.

We'll keep him till the Summer at least FFS.

'fraid there is some legs in this. Not sure who it is, when its happening, Alex wont be staying here permanently.

Just to be clear you're saying at some point in the future Alex will sign for someone else??!?

Posted

It's obvious he's going at some point in the near future, it will be the summer though IMO.

6 more months and a league winners medal is a nice thing to have on your wall!

I thought Cortese said, and so far I have no reason not to believe him, that transfer wise things were only to be believed if it appeared on the official site, not arse wiping material like the Star

Like the above , also talking to someone who talks to Chambo on Fbook , he wants the window to stop to end the speculation and HASN'T spoke to any club about a move.

Called some of the papers are bullsh*tters.

feck me, bar the obvious, I am regarding this window. LOL

jesus where do we find some of you?

Well, that's far more than he'll ever win at Arsenal

speaking to someone who speaks to the player himself on a daily basis .....he states Oxo is going nowhere during this window and is very happy at Saints. I Have every reason to believe this is true.

you wont sell many newspapers to premiership fans with that sort of story

Erm...unless I'm missing something simple, "Chambo" could end the speculation at the drop of a hat if he so desired.

Something along the lines of: "Dear Newspapers, I am not leaving Saints this month. Love, Chambo"

lol... has any transfer you've predicted ever happened or is that why you're going for this new approach? **** I might as well have a go... Morgan will sign for another club I just don't know when or for who, you heard it here first.

The lad at Rochdale, Dawson? West Brom bought him and immediately loaned him back to them for the season.

He was absolutely bang on about Rickie Lambert joining us back in August 2009. I wouldn't dismiss what he is saying totally out of hand.

I was confident until I heard Adkins post match interview today.

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/player/LatestNews/0,,10280,00.html

Reading between the lines it sounds like Alex will goto Arsenal at some point. Not this window, but relatively soon.

Blimey!! It just shows how different people can interpret the same words!! I posted this on a thread that I started this morning :-

Interview Positives??

I`m sorry if this has been picked up on elsewhere, but there seems to be a bit of a negative feeling on here regarding any new signings and the possible sale of AOC. Listening to the end of NA`s interview for the first time this morning, he said that "nobody will be leaving the building(!)" and that yes he was expecting some new bodies to come in, but everything will be done quietly behind the scenes. He indicated that transfer activity intensified as the window closes. On AOC he indicated that he would not be leaving the club until possibly "someway down the line" as he is our player and we are developing and nurturing him, and that he would not be subject to any auction. I thought on the whole it was a positive interview.

Yup Agree that Adkins made all the right noises. I think we need to calm down about all this. What happens will ahppen, but from what I have seen/read in the media and from the club, my own conclusions are that he will stay until the summer at least. I think he is level headed enough and his father appears to be a decent and intelligent sort of guy. Talent such as this will always end up in the prem... if we were now sitting top of the Championship, i would hazzard a guess we might hang on for another year or so, but gicven where we are its unrealistic to expect him to stay beyond teh summer, as much as I would like to think he would. Hopefully fans wont turn on him, NC or anyone else. We need to be realistic and not all doom and gloom - when we are back in the prem, we will at least get a couple of seasons out of our new kids - maybe more if we get a good batch that give us some success... but until thenm we need to be patient.

I know there are some that see these sales as some sort of 'weakness' or that we are a 'selling club', but the truth is that unless you are in teh top 4 prem, the very best international potential kids will go - yes it highlights to me all that is wrong about football, but if we dont like it, we should give it up... because unless they change the transfer rules on young players, its not going to change.

SSN Transfer round up have just said that Man City reps are in talks with Southampton about AOC today. Although they believe his likely destination is still to Arsenal

FFS Sky.

Why don't they quote Cortese and Adkins instead?

i.e. "Chamberlain is not leaving (in January)" [Cortese, Dec 2010] and "No one is leaving the building (this month)" [Adkins, Jan 2011]

Becuase that's boring Trousers, they like stiring.

And there isn't much going on transfer-wise...so they have to try make up/distribute a few rumours.
