Special K Posted 7 January, 2011 Posted 7 January, 2011 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-12135980 RIP - tragic way to go.
Sheaf Saint Posted 7 January, 2011 Posted 7 January, 2011 Sh1t! I met him once. He was doing a sponsors appearance on behalf of Troop at Top Trainers in the East Street shopping centre in about 1989. There was a queue of people waiting for his autograph and the lad in front of me asked Gary if he wanted to fight Lennox Lewis (who was just making a name for himself as a pro) and his reply was "No. I want to be world champion." RIP Gary.
Dimond Geezer Posted 7 January, 2011 Posted 7 January, 2011 Bloody hell, I feel quite shocked by this. Rip
Winnersaint Posted 7 January, 2011 Posted 7 January, 2011 Bloody hell, I feel quite shocked by this. Rip This is a real shock' especially in light of the near miss I had in Bracknell last night with a driver of a red Audi on my cycle home. It was quite clear that the driver simply didn't see me on a roundabout and only some rapid evasive action got me out of a similar fate. I was well lit and properly attired. Don't want to preach to motorists as I am one too, but ffs look out for the cyclists!!
Hatch Posted 7 January, 2011 Posted 7 January, 2011 37 wins out of 38. Only defeat to Lennox. Thats pretty good stats. I remember being decent but not really World Class. Solid as a rock though.
dickyhale Posted 7 January, 2011 Posted 7 January, 2011 (edited) I remember Lennox Lewis beating him at Wembley Arena in 1991 (it was my first ever visit to a fight a present for my 21st birthday). Mason l think was stoped in the 6th round Edited 7 January, 2011 by dickyhale
Huffton Posted 7 January, 2011 Posted 7 January, 2011 First person to die in a cycling accident in London this year according to TFL. Only took a week, sounds like they think thats good:scared:
