farawaysaint Posted 6 January, 2011 Author Posted 6 January, 2011 Wow, they do not like Keane. Given his results there can you blame them? On the subject of Priskin though they seem to be divided as to whether shipping him out is a good move.
John B Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 Not particularly excited over the idea of an out of form Championship Striker when we have Connolly Barnard and Doble in reserve
SaintNeil90 Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 ...Priskin is a Championship striker. Not Premiership... We are never going to sign a player of prem quality in League One. The idea is to sign players who would do well in the championship! Why does everyone suddenly have this idea of buying premiership players, its madness, getting way too ahead of ourselves.
farawaysaint Posted 6 January, 2011 Author Posted 6 January, 2011 That rumour has blatantly come from here, go out into the wider web and then come back here. Brilliant. Priskin is a Championship striker. Not Premiership, although with the strikers now doing alright in the top flight, whose to say who isn't good enough these days. But we're in League 1. Priskin would be a brilliant signing. As for out of form, it's Ipswich, it's Keane, they're all out of form and I guarantee all those players will find form once they leave or Keane leaves. Lambert, Guly, Barnard, Priskin would be a ridiculous strikeforce for L1, and very good for the Championship. But ideally we'd get someone with a bit more pace to offer a different option. In that case admins please close the thread; I apologise for misleading everyone.
SaintNeil90 Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 Not particularly excited over the idea of an out of form Championship Striker when we have Connolly Barnard and Doble in reserve Barnard is not a reserve. He is a first team player, who got injured and due to Guly's form has been put on the bench and used as a sub. Connolly is always injured and is clearly past it, Doble has never played for the first team so is hardly a back up to Lambert, Guly or Barnard. Priskin is miles better than Connolly and Doble, and yes I have seen him play on several occasions.
Danbert Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 Given his results there can you blame them? On the subject of Priskin though they seem to be divided as to whether shipping him out is a good move. Who can blame them bad results or no?
VectisSaint Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 Not particularly excited over the idea of an out of form Championship Striker when we have Connolly Barnard and Doble in reserve Makes perfect sense, competition/backup for Lambert. Connolly, Barnard and Doble are not competition for RL, they are different types of striker (smaller, more mobile, good when playing one big 'un and one small 'un). Whether Priskin would want to be 2nd choice behind RL remains to be seen , depends how hungary he is to redicover his old form :-) Also suspect it depends on the outcome of the Guly transfer, since although he is really a MF he seems to be enjoying playing as 2nd striker to RL, and at the moment in preference to Barnard.
corsacar saint Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 My mate who is a massive QPR fan says he was not rated in the slightest, when he was on loan there last year.Apparently he was lazy, and his finishing was awful.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 This chap ? As a rule I favour two eyed strikers, and to be brutaly frank he does have a questonable attitude towards those in authorty.
Thedelldays Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 would be a decent shout leon best was shyt here but banged in a hattrick for the loony geordies.... stranger things have happened
Saint_clark Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 This comment made me laugh; "Swap deal with Lambert? " No chance sonny.
Ludwig Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 Priskin's had one good half-season in his career. Has talent, potential, but is erratic and has proven lazy previously. Definitely a confidence player in some respects, but I really wouldn't want him here, could see fans getting on his back really quickly (likely 'big' outlay) if he doesn't produce big quickly (which is likely).
Chez Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 I watched him in the Anglian derby and it was barn door and banjo stuff, but confidence is clearly low at Ipswich full stop. He scored 14 in a season for Watford a couple of years back, but struggled to find goals since then. He doesn't inspire me, but not seen a lot of him.
scotty Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 Wow, they do not like Keane. thats reasonable. Neither do I.

Chez Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 only 24. scored 6 for Ipswich this season. 5 actually, in 23 games, two of them in the league cup.
RonManager Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 This chap ? As a rule I favour two eyed strikers, and to be brutaly frank he does have a questonable attitude towards those in authorty. 'Snake' Priskin in 'Escape from Ip Swich'
(not THE) Kevin Moore Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 This chap ? As a rule I favour two eyed strikers, and to be brutaly frank he does have a questonable attitude towards those in authorty. thought he was dead?
Cabrone Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 I hope not, I think we can do a lot better than a half hearted striker who really hasn't done much so far in his career.
Colinjb Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 This chap ? As a rule I favour two eyed strikers, and to be brutaly frank he does have a questonable attitude towards those in authorty. Dean Shiels anyone?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 Swansea are trying to complete a permanent deal for Luke Moore of West Brom, according to Sky Sports, so maybe we've beaten them to Priskin or they've turned their attention to someone else?
Flyer Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 My mate who is a massive QPR fan says he was not rated in the slightest, when he was on loan there last year.Apparently he was lazy, and his finishing was awful. True, hes awful and was the laziest player Ive seen there for years. Bottled every challenge and rarely won a header.
LeGod7 Posted 6 January, 2011 Posted 6 January, 2011 Barnard is not a reserve. He is a first team player, who got injured and due to Guly's form has been put on the bench and used as a sub. Priskin is miles better than Connolly and Doble, and yes I have seen him play on several occasions. AND he always somehow managed to score at SMS!! Bonus!
Griffo Posted 7 January, 2011 Posted 7 January, 2011 Roy Keane has just quit Ipswich - could affect any possible deal?
The9 Posted 7 January, 2011 Posted 7 January, 2011 Roy Keane has just quit Ipswich - could affect any possible deal? Still waiting for confirmation from the BBC, though Sky Sports are claiming he's been "sacked" (their use of quotations, presumably for legal reasons).
Tokyo-Saint Posted 7 January, 2011 Posted 7 January, 2011 Loads of papers now saying he has been sacked. There is no smoke without fire. That's why top of the pops was cancelled.
georgeweahscousin Posted 7 January, 2011 Posted 7 January, 2011 Tamas Priskin is crap. I really hope this isn't true.
miserableoldgit Posted 7 January, 2011 Posted 7 January, 2011 Tamas Priskin is crap. I really hope this isn't true. I remember similar posts to this re:- Jhon Viafara before he signed. Let`s wait and see.
georgeweahscousin Posted 7 January, 2011 Posted 7 January, 2011 I remember similar posts to this re:- Jhon Viafara before he signed. Let`s wait and see. The difference being, that we have actually seen this guy play a few times.
Panda Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 I see Priskin scored for Ipswich against Arsenal last night so that means the new manager will probably want to keep him now. I am not sure we were really interested anyway, just agent/paper talk.
NorthamSteve Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 He was good yesterday, suprised he didn't score more. On that game's basis (as I've not seen much of him) it would be a good signing. However, not sure if we need more up top.
ottery st mary Posted 13 January, 2011 Posted 13 January, 2011 We already have far better strikers at the club.....He is NOT good enough by a long shot..
