Austin Transfer Rumours

The SAS close in on the Taliban faster than we've been closing in on Austin....

thats quite funny for you. Lucikly we dont need him. We need to be looking at players from Dagenham and Redbridge and Yeovil, just about league one standard but significantly worse than what we have and would be happy to join us to sit on the bench in case anyone gets injured. Why pay £1.5m for one player when we can get 15 for £100k each?

Have you thought about working for Poopey as an advisor?

i have come round to the "one for the squad" brigades thinking. We dont need good players to improve the first XI. What we need are 11 first team players and then 40 back up players, happy to sit around and only play if and when we get injuries. Some of them might not have to kick a ball at all if they are lucky. We need to give them all long contracts so if we get promoted to the championship we have all these sh*t players not good enough for the championship and when we struggle we can all slag them off every week. This transfer policy worked brilliantly in the past and lead to two relegations in 4 seasons. As i say, why buy one good player for £1.5m when you can get 15 for £100k each?

Oh what a shame - we're still on opposite sides of the fence. I had just come round to your way of thinking that we're completely OK with the players we have at our disposal....promotion from L1 is a dead-on certainty, we'll storm the NPC next season and go up champions and Gobern and Pulis will be voted joint Premiership players of the season 2014! (;

To be fair it will be a long time until posters on here take anything you say as gospel.

I was first with the news of the appointment of GB, hours before the news that surprised everyone and i am dead right about the Hoddle debacle in 2004. Although I understand why some people would like to bury the truth and erase it from history.

I understand why some people never admit to being wrong too.

Have we ever been officially linked with him? (Aside from this thread)

a couple of internet sites said we were interested and an ITKer on here said we had bid £1.5m other than that its 8 pages of nonsense with people wetting themselves, creaming themselves or wristslitting in equal measure. Dont get me wrong, i'd love us to sign him, but yet again this forum excels itself with histrionics based on zero facts and speculation.

Do we really need to spend the money is the real question. Now Guly has put pen to paper and has adapted as a striker does it not solve our problem. If one striker is injured, then we can get a loan or hope that Connoly is fit. We also have the sqaud to change our formation for a few games if necessary. We can't sign every good player out there. Lets see where we are in five months.

There will be better players out there for us IF we get promoted.

yes very good player who may add to our squad. But expensive and we have an abundance of riches upfront. A lot of money for someone who would expect to start and may well not. Don't think he is type of player they would see a piority at all

Some people have been wetting themselves, creaming themselves, wristslitting and excelling themselves with histronics based on zero facts and speculation on the same subject for the last seven years:

I agree, considering that their barracking of the board led to the catastrophic downfall of a previously solid Premier club.

Keep on creaming, sunshine. Keep on creaming.

I hope you're right that we get Chris Martin if Norwich get Austin.

I don't care what you think, but despite the attacks the truth will come out one day and I will keep the beacon of truth burning strong !

for the ignorant like me, what is this truth you talk of that needs to come out one day?

you muppet, what truth? Your contention is that Hoddle would have saved us from relegation and that some fans are to blame for him not being reappointed and therefore are to blame for relegation. Ignoring the many holes in your obsession, unless you can either invent a time machine or find a parrallel world 7 or so years behind ours I'd venture to suggest that the "truth" you seek will never emerge.

I've got a contact with someone fairly high up on the Swindon board and I have been reliably informed we have had a bid accepted for Charlie Austin.
