doggface Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Think Austin would be a top signing- proven in this league & bags of potential.
Thedelldays Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Not sure what to think about this Good player but utter twa**t by all accounts ....who disappears up his own ars*e of self-congratulation at the slightest chance many many players are utter ****s.... austin would be an amazing signing IMO
hypochondriac Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Not sure what to think about this Good player but utter twa**t by all accounts ....who disappears up his own ars*e of self-congratulation at the slightest chance Why on Earth does that matter?
S-Clarke Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 If he scores lots of goals and leads us too success i couldn't give a damn about his personality if im honest.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 I'll be very very surprised if we sign him.
S-Clarke Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 I'll be very very surprised if we sign him. Same tbh. I don't see it happening.
derry Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 We ought to bust the bank to buy him he is the most naturally instinctive striker I've seen for ages.
benjii Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 We ought to bust the bank to buy him he is the most naturally instinctive striker I've seen for ages. Apart from Pekhart, obviously.
Turkish Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Apart from Pekhart, obviously. and Stig Johansen.
S-Clarke Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 (edited) There is some stuff from Swindon fans saying we've lodged a bid - although this was from a few weeks ago http://thetownend.com/index.php?topic=42140.60 ''My sauces tell me that Sothampton are pulling out the stops to get him....do you reckon he would go there?'' still can't see it happening though tbh...i don't think we'll be making any ''big name'' signings. I'd happily be proven wrong though!!! ...and i see another ''localish'' team are trying to make a rival out of us. Quite sad really Edited 16 January, 2011 by S-Clarke
Dellman Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 If he scores lots of goals and leads us too success i couldn't give a damn about his personality if im honest. Personality matters because its a team game and there's a squad to fit into, and it looks a united squad atm
Nexstar Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Personality matters because its a team game and there's a squad to fit into, and it looks a united squad atm He can be the big-time Charlie at Swindon because they rely on him, and have done for a few seasons. He's not the lone special player here and he'll quickly realise that.

Legod Third Coming Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 We ought to bust the bank to buy him he is the most naturally instinctive striker I've seen for ages. Can he naturally instinctively pick the ball up from our keeper, run the length of the pitch and score each time we need a goal? Because my big worry is not scoring goals, but having players who can make them...
Thedelldays Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Can he naturally instinctively pick the ball up from our keeper, run the length of the pitch and score each time we need a goal? Because my big worry is not scoring goals, but having players who can make them... Haven't we scored a fuk load of goals this season? Why are you worried ??
Turkish Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Haven't we scored a fuk load of goals this season? Why are you worried ?? Anyone would think we hadn't scored 19 goals in the five games before yesterday FFS.
S-Clarke Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Can he naturally instinctively pick the ball up from our keeper, run the length of the pitch and score each time we need a goal? Because my big worry is not scoring goals, but having players who can make them... We have creative players all over the pitch. Morgan, Punch, Oxo, Chappers, Lambo, Dickson down the left etc... we'll always create opportunities without Lalanna if that's what you're getting at (and we did create chances on saturday too, even though it was pretty drab)
CB Fry Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 Haven't we scored a fuk load of goals this season? Why are you worried ?? I think he was hoping the six goals we scored at Oldham were spread around at least seven players, just to show we have goals coming from all areas.
wayman Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 I told you about a week ago who has bid what for Austin. The latest information is that he would love to play for Saints as he sees them as the team for the future and this is from the proverbial horses mouth. His family is so sure that he will make it that his Grandfather paid the difference to P.T. to what Swindon valued him at. Let's just wait and see what evolves.
Amesbury Saint Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 have we signed him? Rudi was a quicker signing!!!!
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 16 January, 2011 Posted 16 January, 2011 I told you about a week ago who has bid what for Austin. His family is so sure that he will make it that his Grandfather paid the difference to P.T. to what Swindon valued him at. Let's just wait and see what evolves. Has he actually spoken to us, though, as someone else hinted he might have done? Is this something which is likely to happen?
Saint Charlie Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 Some chat on Swindon forum that he may have handed a transfer request in, probably rubbish though. Fair to say lots of teams will want him, would think its a small chance he would come here if we want him but you never know.
Whitey Grandad Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 Some chat on Swindon forum that he may have handed a transfer request in, probably rubbish though. Fair to say lots of teams will want him, would think its a small chance he would come here if we want him but you never know. If so that might be significant. If a player hand in a transfer request then they forego any golden goodbye that they may be entitled to.
Window Cleaner Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 If so that might be significant. If a player hand in a transfer request then they forego any golden goodbye that they may be entitled to. they forego their cut of the transfer fee as well. Used to be 5% but i don't know if it still is.
Appy Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 I would guess Connolly is on the way out, with him not even being in the squad on saturday. If we are building for the championship, to have a choice of 4 strikers of Lambert,Guly, Barnard and Austin would be brilliant. Would be a real sign of intent.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 Charlie Austin will go to a NPC club IMO. I cant believe people are slating him before he's even come here (if he ever will anyway) we have some right fu c ktards for fans !
Matthew Le God Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 Charlie Austin will go to a NPC club IMO. If Austin came to Saints he stands a good chance of being a Championship player in a mere five months time and on much higher wages than he is currently. There really aren't many clubs in the Championship at the moment which would a) need him b) afford him.
SuperSAINT Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 Not sure why Hull would sign him. They cast their net out for two strikers and landed MClean & Fryatt instead. Just trying to think who else could sign him from the Championship? Leicester / QPR / Burnley, maybe?
Appy Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 They cast their net out for two strikers and landed MClean & Fryatt instead. Just trying to think who else could sign him from the Championship? Leicester / QPR / Burnley, maybe? I'd say those 3 and us would be the main contenders.
sfc4prem Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 Leicester don't need him, they just loaned Yakubu. QPR could easily afford him and look to be in the prem next year, maybe he'll go there. We are an attractive proposition to some though, so let's not rule this out just yet.
hypochondriac Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 According to wayman its been Hull Birmingham and saints. As the first 2 are signing strikers maybe we are in pole position?

hypochondriac Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/birmingham_city/9362485.stm Ah right cheers. Maybe Birmingham then.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 has anyone else heard Connelly & £2 Million for Austin?
Matthew Le God Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 has anyone else heard Connelly & £2 Million for Austin? Where have you heard it? Maybe a self fuelling rumour. Someone reads it on one forum and using that to support the claim on another forum, which in turn is used to back up the rumour elsewhere etc etc....
SuperSAINT Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 Ah right cheers. Maybe Birmingham then. I know Austin's good, but I'd hope Birmingham must have a few options in-between Keane & Austin in their striker shortlist

Legod Third Coming Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 Haven't we scored a fuk load of goals this season? Why are you worried ?? I have no concerns about us scoring goals but the idea that Morgan, Hammond and Chaplow are creative is simply not really true is it? Noticable that we have no Lallana and we cannot break the first team down without his presence? Now, my question is is that coincidence or is it because without him we lack creativity?? Put it this way, the fact we score 19 goals in five games kind of proves my point doesn't it? Why do we need Austin??
buctootim Posted 17 January, 2011 Posted 17 January, 2011 His family is so sure that he will make it that his Grandfather paid the difference to P.T. to what Swindon valued him at. Wonder if Granddad would pay the difference between what Saints and Swindon value him at. Cant be more than a million adrift.
