dickyhale Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 And you fat bast**d to Tony in goal, if you went to the game you would understand!
Deppo Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 I didn't go to the game so I won't understand this. I wonder what it is?
Bourno Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Thought that there keeper was a good lad interacting with the saints fans.
Andy Durman Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Savage was their best player and that was banter of the highest order. I laughed a little to loudly in the home stand. Great entertainment
Chez Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Savage dies his hair red and we struggle to come up with good quality derogitary banter. By the way is it just me that is embarressed by the "We've got more fans than you" and "we won't play you ever again" chants?
Dr Who? Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 My goodness we have some original chants don't we. I have heard you fat bastard everytime I go to SMS, when they are clearly not fat!! Next we will be singing he's got a Turd on his head for people with brown hair.... laugh my sides nearly split!!

Deppo Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 I don't understand the "You fat b*stard" chant at the keeper because I wasn't at the game. Can somebody who was at the game please explain it to me?
Dr Who? Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 I don't understand the "You fat b*stard" chant at the keeper because I wasn't at the game. Can somebody who was at the game please explain it to me? I think that it is because he was wearing a top with horizontal stipes or weighs about 20 stone?? I really do not know I was not there either, someone please let me know how the joke goes as I am finding it hard to understand too.
Dr Who? Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Lol, I guess you had to be there. I thought it was rather amusing. Or is it the 10 pints consumed before kick off that helps? lol
niceandfriendly Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Or is it the 10 pints consumed before kick off that helps? lol Yep. Lol, also the fact that Saints were winning away. I've been supporting Saints all my life but I haven't witnessed that too often, so I think anything would make me giggle to be honest. And therein lies the beauty of watching football. It's fun.
Dr Who? Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Yep. Lol, also the fact that Saints were winning away. I've been supporting Saints all my life but I haven't witnessed that too often, so I think anything would make me giggle to be honest. And therein lies the beauty of watching football. It's fun. I do prefer away games, but do only find football fun if we win these days, and believe me I have got caught up in the giggles at away games. It is suppose to be fund but just did not find this funny, but I am not trying to be the giggle police at all. It is the one time of the week that I can act like a kid, and lets face it you do act like a kid at football. Getting wound up by nothing at all, sulking, giggling at silly songs, and swearing at the man in the middle. You just have to look at the cult program socceram and I giggled all through the christmas day one, after a few drinks, but it was just silly!! lol.
dickyhale Posted 4 January, 2011 Author Posted 4 January, 2011 Lol, I guess you had to be there. I thought it was rather amusing. People like Dr who clearly don't go to the games and just sit on this site listening to the radio.

By the way is it just me that is embarressed by the "We've got more fans than you" and "we won't play you ever again" chants? Yeah, embarrassing, along with the now regular droning of "Is there a fire drill?" even when hardly any of the opposing fans are actually leaving. That "strawberry on his head" song made me f*****g cringe as well.
Saint_clark Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 Yeah, embarrassing, along with the now regular droning of "Is there a fire drill?" even when hardly any of the opposing fans are actually leaving. That "strawberry on his head" song made me f*****g cringe as well. And chanting "cheerio" or "we can see you sneaking out" - whenever i've looked over at the away fans ready to join in, i've only ever seen 1 or 2 actually leaving.
HertsSaint Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 It was very embarrassing the way saints fans were behaving yesterday. Dagenham were in the conference 3 years ago and have done a fantastic job to get to League 1 with such a small budget. This ‘shed bigger than us ‘ is stupid as they actually had quite a nice stadium for the size of the club as the away end was in real good condition. There is a minority of fans who attend games and are total thugs and need to sort themselves out. After we scored the first goal a teenager was being escorted out of the ground by police, what a joke and embarrassment he is to the club. We are in top 5 highest number of banning orders in the football league and we should not be anywhere near that high on the list. We are in danger of making a bad reputation of ourselves and need to sort this out very quickly. Also this olay, olay, olay chant was stupid with 15 minutes to go as we nearly concealed a goal in the last 5 minutes. As saints fans we should realise that we should never count are chickens until the games over .

He does almost every game home and away, rather have him standing in the away end with me than you. Agree with Saint Clark and Sour Mash that some of the songs were extremely cringeworthy, the strawberry song was as bad as the northam singing "you f*cking look like a lemon" to a keep in a yellow kit, same as "you f*cking look like a wotsit" to lewington of Mk Dons, some of the worst examples of un-funny football songs I've ever heard.
rick1976.4.38 Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 well i cant believe some people on here, you gringe at some of the chants.well id prefer some witty songs than violence at away grounds.most people enjoy the banter and songs at away games, its part of the away day fun.the shed song is fine as we are in league 1 and most of the grounds are f'ing sheds.lol.i think one person got escorted out yesterday, infact you see him on one of my clips, dont know what it was for but as he was in our end it was probably some jobsworth copper needed a knick for the day for the excessive amount of policing we get at some of our games, also found the strawberry song funny as did savage as he was laughing when we sung it.did none of you find the wotsit song at sms funny.please get a life and enjoy yourselves ffs,its not often as saints weve got much to be happy about.coys

The lad got chucked out for nothing more than enthusiastically celebrating our first goal, a typical example of the police trying to justify their massively excessive presence and costs. I bet you're one of those sad cases that sits there in silence the whole game, with a miserable/confused look on your face for the duration. Edited 4 January, 2011 by Sour Mash

Nobody doubts how well the Daggers have done since the Conference but I rue the day we start singing songs like "Nice ground, you've got a very nice ground...." when we go away!!!
Michelle Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 Good god, anyone would think we just HAVE to find something to complain about if we can't slate the performance. Lighten up kids - we're winning, we're second in the league, and we're having a good time. Enjoy it.
dubai_phil Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 Crikey, singing abusive songs about Away grounds is not acceptable.... Been going on for years, obviously some people have never been to the Subutteo Stadium in West London

We sang it after he scored and towards the end just before they scored. We sing it to get behind him. It's called support. Stop slating your fellow fans and live a little bit.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 Tony Roberts was a cracking laugh. Shaking his rear at us, taking the **** back when we done the "oooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you fat b*stard!". Great sport and good to see him still going at this level at his age.

I thought it was all very good natured yesterday and I very much doubt the D & R fans were in any way insulted or deeply hurt by the chants. Tony Roberts was superb and the banter between him and us was very entertaining. Whilst you do have some valid points in your whinge we could really do without the general negativity. We've just had a superb Xmas, collecting maximum points and scoring 11 in 3. Can't we just have a few days to enjoy it without the doom-mongers and whinge-bags bringing us all down!
This Charming Man Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 I was there yesterday and confirm the chants were not funny, not original in anyway and that everyone who was joining in was in fact a c*nt.
Chez Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 - The "Olé, Olé, Olé, Olé" chant you are flagging us off for singing is actually Guly Do Prado's song. HertsSaint Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 The olay, olay, olay chant was when we were keeping the ball for ages and dagenham couldnt get it off us. I dont see the point of that when we there's a chance of letting in a goal and making ourselves look stuipd. In regards to the chanting im all for getting behind the team and spurring them on but to chant about their staduim is there a point!!! Lets keep the chants about are team and not the oppositions finances or ground up keep!! Looks like my previous comment has been taken out of contexts in regards to the thugs; i mean in general we seem to be getting a reputation of a thugish set of fans, you can see that by the police having to film us when we leave the grounds etc or being searched before entering the game at some grounds. Obviously we have a large fan base but i think we are higher on the list than Leeds and Millwall. Yesterday the support was great but there seems to be a majority of fans who look like there after trouble.

Yesterday the support was great but there seems to be a majority of fans who look like there after trouble. Really I never saw anything like that...in fact quite the opposite - especially on the packed tube going back to West Ham and Waterloo. I saw many fans give up seats - make way for the public with young kids etc. There was banter on the stations with both Daggers and West Ham fans. I saw both sets of fans chanting and jeering at each other on the way out ofthe ground but not one punch was thrown. 1200 fans there yesterday ...how many arrests....maybe 1 for over reacting to the goal. Chripes we are the new Millwall!
HertsSaint Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 Im not talking about the game yesterday for trouble i mean in general
JRM Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 Im not talking about the game yesterday for trouble i mean in general Seeing as you are a Hatfield lad you presumably know a few Spurs, or other London clubs, and will see them on the train on Saturdays when they play at home. I suggest you swop places and go and follow spurs or west ham for a few games, then come back to saints, and you will realise that we have one of the most docile unthreatening followings around
saintscottofthenortham Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 I have followed Saints all over the country. Not once have I seen any reason for us to be thought of as thugs. This is because we are not. The high police presence at our away games is because of the number of fans we take away from home. Incredibly, that brings more police. As for you saying we are fifth of the list of Banning Orders, doesn't that just go by how many have been issued from St Mary's?
Bourne Valley Saint Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 It was a great day out yesterday at Dagenham. Their ground may be small but they certainly look after the visiting support. The bar area to the left of our end was excellent with tv screens and a wooden floor which would do my front room proud. The outside snack bar was excellent with bacon rolls in a french stick priced at about 50% of what we have to pay at St Marys for crap pies and their supporters club after the match was friendly and hospitable. Their fans were gracious in defeat and acknowledged that we were the better side but they could easily have walked away with at least a point. As for our support, it was excellent and although I personally don't like the shed song (I remember it being sung to us at the Dell) and the pompey scum (unless we're playing them), the noise level was good and we got behind the team. As for the cheering OLE when we kept possession, what on earth is wrong with that? Crikey, I've been following Saints for 40 years and we've never been able to defend a lead so let's just enjoy it when we're in front!
ladysaint Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 Their supporters club was very hospitable and the ground was a lot better than I expected. As for the chants the OLE chant is ok but thought it was funny when they got possession and started doing it back to us. I hate the chants "Just like watching Brazil and Give us a Wave Nigel", thought the Strawberry on his head chant was good especially for those of us who can remember singing He's got a Pineapple on his head to Jason Lee.
Turkish Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 our support looks more like a mental asylums day out than a bunch of rioters.
JRM Posted 4 January, 2011 Posted 4 January, 2011 thought the Strawberry on his head chant was good especially for those of us who can remember singing He's got a Pineapple on his head to Jason Lee. how would you feel, having spent a fortune on getting a nice new hair-do, only for people to point and laugh at you as you walk down the street? I would not like to be referred to as a piece of fruit.

I'm guessing you spilt your flask of hot chocolate all over your tartan rug when we scored and that's why you're so annoyed? Cheer up FFS we're second in the League and playing well. Whilst I agree some chants are a bit dodgy, I thought the banter with Tony Roberts was class, top lad for giving it back to us. A Dagenham fan told me he thought our fans were 'superb' in chanting his name and clapping him and that. I'd rather us be a loud support with some rubbish chants than a quiet boring support with no chants at all.
