NickG Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Adkins on solent - Nicola has been great and we already have made substantial bids for players.
qwertySFC Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Very interesting comments from Nigel - the word substantial sounds exciting
Badger Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Very interesting comments from Nigel - the word substantial sounds exciting Twice
Thedelldays Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Do you have a budget Nigel? Do you? do you..?
qwertySFC Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Maybe our new sponsors have coughed up already - can't beat a nice chocolate drink can you;)
benjii Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Yeah. Beer, coffee, water, Appletise. They're all better.
qwertySFC Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Also - it made me laugh when Skatey Cockrill said he was going bargain basement shopping - quality
benjii Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 And wine, bourbon, port, gin, Cherry Tango, Cherry Coke, Cranberry and Lucozade.
qwertySFC Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 And wine, bourbon, port, gin, Cherry Tango, Cherry Coke, Cranberry and Lucozade. Ever tried Nestle Milo ??
Tokyo-Saint Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Stop avoiding the question Nigel. You're are like a 2nd rate MP. Just tell us what your feckng budget is you cvnt!
ottery st mary Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Still waiting on a response from Messi ..
skintsaint Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Cortese using his Milan links to bring in Ronaldinho...
SNSUN Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Stop avoiding the question Nigel. You're are like a 2nd rate MP. Just tell us what your feckng budget is you cvnt! There's no point knowing. You'll either get Saints fans saying that it's not a big enough budget, or that's so big we shouldn't really be spending that sort of money. For me, Guly and a winger/striker crossbreed is all we'd need to win this league.
NickG Posted 3 January, 2011 Author Posted 3 January, 2011 this squad is good enough to win the league
paulwantsapint Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Why should NA disclose his transfer budget? If we have made offers as it sounds we have the sellers will demand loads more instead of haggle over peanuts
Colinjb Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Why should NA disclose his transfer budget? If we have made offers as it sounds we have the sellers will demand loads more instead of haggle over peanuts This. And while I do not dissagree with those who say our squad is good enough to win the league, the worst thing we can do is rest on our laurels.... We havn't even fully earnt them yet. We must keep fighting for everything we can.
gammon cheeks Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 this squad is good enough to win the league No its not, we need a striker , a winger or two and a central midfielder , so only then will we have a squad BIG and GOOD enough to win the league.
Charlie Wayman Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Stop avoiding the question Nigel. You're are like a 2nd rate MP. Just tell us what your feckng budget is you cvnt! I though the reporter's style was a little more subtle than yours Tokyo. Nigel obviously liked him so gave him a feed... mischievous bugger, now either he or Nicola are over a barrel - ouch, but it was good!
NickG Posted 3 January, 2011 Author Posted 3 January, 2011 think the squad should be - as has been shown recently - but pleased to hear about strengthening
NickG Posted 3 January, 2011 Author Posted 3 January, 2011 No its not, we need a striker , a winger or two and a central midfielder , so only then will we have a squad BIG and GOOD enough to win the league. no we don't!
Charlie Wayman Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Cortese using his Milan links to bring in Ronaldinho... or Beckham?
gammon cheeks Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 no we don't! Good job you are not the manager then!
lethallee Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 We have no obvious replacements for lallana and Ox if either got injured. At mo Dickson and richardson are only options from bench. So I would be very surprised if we didn't sign winger.
NickG Posted 3 January, 2011 Author Posted 3 January, 2011 if we add - great, and sounds like they are trying, however - our form since Adkins has been here, and the fact that our forwards on our bench are better than everything Brighton can offer, shows we don't need, to strengthen - but yes please! Also dependson whether anyone leaves
Tractor_Saint Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 A mill or so for Guly? Two mill for Charlie Austin? Hope it's not that much...
adrian lord Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 We DO need to strengthen - in anticipation of challenging for the Championship title next season. There's no way we are good enough to win that yet and go straight up to the Prem, which is what we want, and will be expected to do.

We've had a wonderful christmas and the signs are that our chairman is not just hot air. Let's see the glass half full for a change.
Thedelldays Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 have to say....charlie austin looks mustard on the telly box
Gemmel Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Ever tried Nestle Milo ?? I dont think it's Nestle, But i do have a guess and after saying I thought i might know on here, I went and checked their website...... They have four main brands and every single one of those lables are red and white.
miserableoldgit Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Ever tried Nestle Milo ?? Skinny Cow is very nice.

Lighthouse Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 A mill or so for Guly? Two mill for Charlie Austin? Hope it's not that much... Christ I hope not. £1m is the going rate for a top end, 30 goal a season, League 1 striker, i.e. Lambert, Fryatt. Guly is NOT that good and there is no way Austin is worth £2m. Plus the fact Austin is a bit of a pr*ck by most accounts and may sour the dressing room. I wouldn't sign him at all TBH. I'd offer £500k for Guly and find another striker for closer to the £750k area. We don't want to get held to ransom here.

Thedelldays Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 charlton 1-4 swindon.. sweet another for austin...looks excellent to be fair

Let's see the glass half full for a change. Precisely. We will be planning 12-18 months ahead with the squad, not 12-18 weeks.

Guly has a better strike rate than Lambert so far and looks to be capable of doing a decent job in the Champ. I would say a mill is top end sort of price for him but 500k would be pretty cheap. benjii Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 6 goals in half a season? When we signed Lambert he'd just scored 29 for Bristol Rovers. This season. Compare minutes on pitch. I'm not interested in arguing about who is better but we're not picking up a lower league domestic bargain from a cash strapped minnow we're talking about someone owned by a Serie A club. Anywhere between half a mill and a mill would be a good price.
WATERSIDEIFASAINT Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Substantial bids means the likes of Austin,Le Fondre,Danns,Stock and Woolford could be being bid for? I think we will try and bring in another striker, winger and possibly another centre back and central midfielder aswell as Guly permanentely.Exciting times and we couldn't have timed our good form better as it will be easier to persuade the type of players we want sitting in 2nd place than 11th that we were 3 games ago!! More important is not losing Lallana,Chamberlain,Fonte and Lambert

Colinjb Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 have to say....charlie austin looks mustard on the telly box Assuming the rumours are true, and he is a bit of a d*ck, could we manage him accordingly?
Thedelldays Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Assuming the rumours are true, and he is a bit of a d*ck, could we manage him accordingly? we can manage barnard ok....he seems like a right nice chap
alpine_saint Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 this squad is good enough to win the league You're quite serious, arent you ? Jesus...
Saint_clark Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 You're quite serious, arent you ? Jesus... To be fair, if everyone stays fully fit then it is good enough to win the league. But we need a few more players to ensure that when we get the inevitable injures/suspensions we have quality back up to take the mantle.
