benjii Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Hudders lead, great goal from Pilkington He won't be there by the end of the month. Fingers crossed. The weakining of other teams in League One in January could be great news for us.
Thedelldays Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 watching this game..I do wonder when people say this league is alot weaker than last season....
benjii Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 watching this game..I do wonder when people say this league is alot weaker than last season.... Well, if you look at the points tallies of the top teams it looks like it is.
CWD Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Well, if you look at the points tallies of the top teams it looks like it is. I would argue that proves there are more good teams in the league than last year. Norwich and leeds were so superior last year whereas this season there are 6 or 7 teams who realistically have a chance of the title IMO
Thedelldays Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Well, if you look at the points tallies of the top teams it looks like it is. there are no teams running away with it...or one team head and shoulders above everyone else but there are many more evenly matched team than last season huddersfield saints charlton wednesday brighton not a great deal between that lot then you have last year. norwich by far better than every one else but leeds huddersfield (not as strong last season) swindon (eer, not as good as the teams in the list above) colchester (ditto)
Saint_clark Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Millwall last season definitely weren't as good as any of the teams in the top 6 this season, with the exception of Bournemouth.

The same reason that the top of the Prem is relatively open; because the top teams are much worse than they were before. Come the end of the season the total required for second place and play-offs will almost certainly be lower than last season; ergo, from the point of view of anyone with designs on promotion it is weaker IMO.
S-Clarke Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Wednesday should be level...reckon this could end in a draw.
Thedelldays Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 there is far more like for like this season...which is no surpise why the league is alot tighter

I dont agree..it is because there are more stronger teams in the league.. wednesday huddersfield charlton even saints brighton are better than the 6 that were in the payoffs mix up last season....bar maybe millwall then you have the likes of brentford who have improved greatly Edited 3 January, 2011 by Thedelldays

Thedelldays Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Not forgetting Hartlepool, who could go 2nd if they win their game in hand. like saying the NPC is weaker because of the likes of norwich going straight up and doing so well....when it is probably harder than ever up there this season

Wednesday are the equivalent of Norwich or Leeds - ie a big club in a league they are too good for - but not as good. Brighton are probably a bit of a fad. No one is averaging two points per match. This is because they have not been good enough. We are second despite having had a ****e start and underperformed in many games. You're confusing competition with quality. I don't recall anyone saying the league was less competitive. Just less good. Which it probably is.
itchen_dan Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 I thought the refs we've had this season have been poor but the guy reffing this has had a shocker! Come on Wednesday! Still got 10 mins!
Thedelldays Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 arrrgh morisson you gangsta wannabe fuktard
S-Clarke Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 think I'd prefer Hud win than Wed looking at it in the bigger picture, i feel the same - we now have 2 games over hudds and they are only 1 point in front of us.
Thedelldays Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 looking at it in the bigger picture, i feel the same - we now have 2 games over hudds and they are only 1 point in front of us. yes....over to saints now...surely we will go back up to 2nd.. have a funny feeling that saints, brighton, huddersfield and charlton will put a bit of a points gap in away from the others..
S-Clarke Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 isn't it fun that we're actually involved in an automatic promotion battle though? first time I've ever experienced it as a saints fan, I'm used to watching games like this as a complete outsider. beats scrapping around for 6th place.
Saint_clark Posted 3 January, 2011 Posted 3 January, 2011 Could end up as low as 8th by my reckoning Please Saints just win, win well, and get us back in 2nd.
