What the f**k is Brightons problem

What you are trying to say is that you can only fill your stadium when you play pompey. In other words you dont have the fan base.

Indeed we don't have the fanbase to regularly fill a 32,000 ground when we are in the third tier. Hope that clears that up.

Not stirring up a rivalry just amuses me that you lot think you are so big. You couldnt fill your stadium to full capacity against us in a local derby so maybe your fan base is not that big or your fans are in the closet and are glory hunters only to return when you are in the champions league. And as i see it at the moment that you might win this league but at present you are 2nd behind a small team down the road which must be a bit embarrasing for such a huge club.

Your not a local derby though ?? To us you are just a localish plucky little club that i always wish does well. Never mind the fact that we took well over 50k to wembley last season and many were still trying to get hold of tickets.

We also don't think we are a huge club, but yes many of us think we are bigger than this league, the fact that you didn't answer me last night and probably won't when i say this either, if you dropped 2 divisions in 5 years how would you be thinking ?? Would you be thinking oh well this is our level ?? Especially with the infastructure and finance we have ATM and especially the team then yes i expect us to do better.

Does that mean we are miles better than you ? No clearly not, you are playing bloody well ATM and we will have to play better in order to oust you, but looking through your board and hearing you spout crap is quickly making me change my opinion, i mean to say we are arrogant and then linking yourselves to Owen/Keane/Gudjohnson and saying you will be a far bigger club then us because of a new 22k stadium is pure arrogance, you haven't even got anything to back it up with.

I have had enough of trying to reason with you BHA.

Are you a simpleton? You asked the question why didn't fill out St.Mary's against 'our local rivals'. I merely told you that we did against Pompey, who our are rivals. You are not our rivals, nor are you a derby game which is why you shouldn't be so suprised that we didn't sell out against Brighton.

Mong. We filled out our stadium against Pompey, MK Dons, Exeter, Leeds and Southend last season. Might be a couple more as well, can't really remember.

Mong thats disrespectfull to the disabled! Did you fill to full capacity yesterday against exeter? But for a huge club you should be at full capacity every home game.

Which means you cant fill your stadium week in week out does it. So your fan base is **** isnt it.

No, we were quite a bit short in the end.

But for a huge club you should be at full capacity every home game.

Not really sure on two fronts. Firstly we aren't a huge club (although in the theoretical/hypothetical/**** waving pecking order we must be in the top 20 or so), and secondly it is difficult to fill a ground in the Third Tier (even in their promotion year the rather large Leeds United had an average of 24,000).

Hope that helps.

With ease watch this space!

Well, if past attendances are to go by it won't happen, i just find it rather odd you are on here spouting this crap when you can't sell out an 8k stadium when you are playing in the best form for ages, however we are playing league 1 football and regularly get 20k plus crowds.

Strange

We can't fill a 32K stadium week in week out in the third tier. I don't know many teams that could. It's all relative though. Teams with a 10K stadium could sell out every week but still get less fans than we do if our ground is fifty percent full.

And your point is?

I would suggest looking in the mirror.

Weird how someone who follows a team who are doing so well, with a new stadium about to be unveiled and with benefactor giving them support feels the need to post noddy stuff on the board of a team who are clearly not their rivals.

Now had you been having a little tiff with some Palace fans, then I might begrudgingly accept your existence, but your efforts on here have been rather dull, uninspiring, lacking in humour and a touch loony.

I (and I think many others) bear no animosity towards Brighton and view them in the same way you would view a distant cousin.

You're not looking very good with your posts on here. At least ratchet up the abuse and slagging, or else dip in to some humour as you're coming across as a weird teenager who hasn't got many friends.

I like Albion. Good team, good city. I dislike you though BHA, you certainly aren't doing Sussex any favours.

We are getting well over 20,000 on average in League One for **** sake. We had 26,000 in for the game against you. How can you complain about that when it is bigger than 99% of Championship clubs, all of League One and a fair deal of Premier League clubs?

The deamnd for tickets at SMS will increase with our climb through the leagues - same at every club. When a Premiership club we regularly filled the ground with the local "footbal" not Saints fan used to come making up the numbers. Plus most clubs used to fill the away end with 2,000+. To be honest I find league football much more exciting than The Premiership (as a fan).

I reckon we have a loyal 15,000 fan base that goes up to around 24-25,000 when we have a half decent game and some form. We regularly take a 1000+ away from home which is a major move forward - perhaps it's because we seem to have a chance of winning plus the attraction of a new ground? However you look at it we are not a big club - we have a decent following but not massive compared to the size of the City.

Once upon a time Saints fans were ridiculed for being that nice little club on the south coast with a tight ground - and people hated coming to it. We punched above our weight for years - but now we are expected to roll teams over. Recently at Hartlepool on a cold Tuesday night the locals couldn't believe the support we brought. The thing is these clubs all want to beat us and send us home with a flea in our ear...

As long as we are in League 1 (a league we should never be in but for the mismanagement and greed of the previous regime) we will always be a big fish. Look how Leeds struggled to get out of the division - but did clubs in the league want rid of them? I would suggest if a poll was done of clubs you want to see promoted from League 1 - many clubs in The Championship and League 1 would pick Southampton. Especially L1 clubs after all the humiliation inflicted by the lads at SMS! (Smiley ironic thingy!!).

In a strange way a couple of seasons in L1 has been a bit of an eye opener. All the fans are real fans - and if you want "it" - it's still there available! The humour is better, the pre-match pint less hassle, and the stewards less up their own backsides (except at Huddersfield!).

As a big side in a small pond - on the whole Saints fans have added to L1. On the whole the majority are well behaved and enjoy a few beers - the numbers are welcomed all over the country and generate some revenue for the locals. I honestly beleive there will be some towns that will miss the visit of Saints fans next season!!

And so to next week - your local derby with Pompey...do us proud and stuff 'em! On the otherhand we play a Premiership club - Blackpool. It seems like yesterday we were in Blackpool playing them in the Championship and now we are leagues apart literally. Nothing against Blackpool but I still can't get my head around the fact that they are in The Premier League - what an awayday that is for Chelsea fans! Unlike last year when I really thought we would beat Pompey - Blackpool will be real test. It won't be a sell out either - but Blackpool will never be a sell out...

Perhaps we should dedicate a thread to the south coast derby in the cup next week just for BHA - nah I don't think so!

Both you and Bounemouth are sides that in the past most Saints fans kept an eye out for your results as we always liked to see you both doing well. Both of you think we are rivals but that will never be the case you have become like naughty little brothers who we pat on the head and send to bed early with a glass of milk.

The Brighton thing is similar to Bournemouth where they are much smaller so have a bit of a chip on their shoulder.

It's hard for Saints fans to hate clubs that we see as nice small local sides, it would be like hating Eastleigh or Sholing FC. I think it would be great if Saints, Brighton and Bournemouth go up.

Just because you have a bigger ground doesnt make you a bigger club does it. Your in the lower tier with us and bournemouth so in my opinion you are a ****ing little club as well. With limited resources over the years and we are still above you in the league. your just a small tin pot club in Portsmouth.

To be honest, dont let this troll wind you up. BHA, you aren't doing your club any favours - and apart from an obvious wind up mission, not really sure what else you are trying to achieve...

ALL clubs have a few obsessed arrogant fans who for some inexplicable reason seem to rely on the size of their club to compensate them for what I can only assume to be a small ccok... including ours and its those that seem to get some infantile pleasure from their arrogance... but dont forget some is just decent and typical banter, afterall, we are both going for auto promotion..

I am not actually surprised we are averaging around 22k... which for L1 is pretty good... but I would admit if we were playing poorly, down the bottom, we might struggle to get 15-16k - thats what happens at all clubs - results/performance/success creates higher numbers - simple fact that many chose to ignore - what is puzzeling though is why Brighton are still struggling to fill a small ground when you are having such a great season under Poyet?

I will acknowledge that the Withdean, is hardly going to inspire, and I am sure when you move into your new ground you will see attendences go up, whether you get promoted or not... but you have to ask yourself why your club has designed this for 22k if you have long term ambitions to get to the top flight - when we were there, we sold out 32K most games, and could have sold out 40K plus for at least half the matches... make of that what you will.

Brighton are a club that got screwed by owners, have someghow survived these years without their own ground, and despite nobends like BHA, and his lack of wit, I actually hope to seem them do well, and get promoted with us and ideally Bournemouth to... so not really sure what all the fuss is about...

But we are easily the bigger club ;-)

Think you will find that even when you were at the goldstone we averaged more than you
