I was in London a couple of weekends back and some bloke started shouting at me in the street. Took me a few seconds to realise that he saw the saints badge on my jacket and thought he would have a bit of banter in regent street. Was trying to be cryptic to see if I know who the hell he was or who he supports. Going on about pub team we are playing and stuff.

I played along a bit until he gave it away (I knew we had Charlton next but not bothered looking further) he was a daggers fan and seemed most excited to spot me in the street. We spoke for a couple of secs then he said he is their groundsman. He told me if I ask for little Tony at the turnstiles he would get me into the club bar.

Unfortunately I will not be there but I'm guessing his invite would extend to all of us. ;)

It was a strange few minutes but it makes the game mean a little more than just 3 points to me now. Not a lot though!

Let's hope we don't fall down against the teams we really should beat like we did last year!

Anyone know if Hammond will be back?

Personally I hope Schneiderlin and Chaplow start no matter what, Schneiderlin had his best game in a long time, always wanted the ball and really made us tick.

Schniderlin - yes he had a good game on the face of it but one swallow and all that...........D&R away ??? if he's really started performing we'll see it again in this game and perhaps he will make a goal or even score one - better still....

He's never going to be the sort of midfielder who scores loads or even assists alot, he's there to make the players in front of him play.

Evidently !! Sometimes it's not enough though....

Couple of changes from the 4-0 win over Exeter for me. I'd go with the following . . .

---------------------- Davis ------------------

Richardson ----- Fonte ----- Jaidi ----- Harding

Chamberlain --- Hammond --- Chaplow --- Lallana

------------- Lambert ------ Barnard ----------

Subs: Bialkowski, Seaborne, Butterfield, Dickson, Schneiderlin, Guly, Connolly.

Bring in Jaidi as I feel this will be less of a 'football' match and more of a physical contest.

I'm not convinced Guly will make an impact away from home either, so the tried and tested Barnard might be a better option.

Hoping for a 2-1 away win, but this is the sort of game that Saints tend to drop points. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong tomorrow though!

I reckon, Hammond will come in IF fully fit..and MAYBE barnard..

the changes will OR should be made against blackpool....that is when to give the key players a rest with the oldham game a few days after

Three changes from a 4-0 winning side . . . bad idea.

Normally, I'd agree with you. However, I just feel we're going to have to adapt to the conditions tomorrow, and IMO, the likes of Jaidi, Hammond and Barnard will give us a better chance of taking all three points. They'll provide us with extra strength, power and industry, something that can't always be said for both Schneiderlin and Guly. We'll see though. In Nige we trust!

We have hardly played recently... would be ridiculous to rest players unless Adkins wants us to go out of the FA cup (would be fair enough i guess) but seriosuly these players shouldn't be tired after the last month or so.

but they are being brought off early already...adkins has already dropped in that OxO is struggling to finish games...jaidi cant play more than twice a week...guly (again, from adkins) is still finding the pace of the games..

I noticed at the hudders game, lallana really struggling towards the end....maybe that was rustyness..

then again, probably better to start with your best and bring them off as required...like he has been doing..

I will settle for a 2-0 win for Saints as could be a tough game for us. If we can do the same as v Exeter in second half with more crosses low and shoot on site then should be 4-0 to Saints. I take it the club coaches wont leave unless the pitch inspection is ok?

Is there a pitch inspection due then?

Anyone know if it is all ticket on the day? Can't find anything on their website. I wouldn't mind turning up on the day and getting a ticket in the Daggers end too...

I imagine they would have said if it was. They'll probably make a fair bit off of Saints fans in the home end tomorrow.

Sounds reasonable but we could 'rest' Richardson who was the one real down point of the Exeter game - absolutely poor actually....

Do you have eyes?? He was quality defensively and that is primarily a defender's job. Much rather him than Butterfield or Otsemobor.

Banana skin game that we really need to win. If we don't, we are probably outside the top 2 again with confidence bubble deflating and looking at a backlog of similar banana skin away fixtures. On the other hand if we win........If they want it more than us I will ****ing give up.

Mental! Absolutely mental!

Richardson was solid, and made some good attacking runs, set up two good chances

He certainly is solid- more so than Butterfield I'd say. Think a few passes went astray on Saturday but in general he brings some attacking threat to the team too. Every so often he puts in a real top quality cross- for example the one against Brighton than Lambert headed over.

Guly went off after about 65 mins yday and Nige alluded to him still adapting to the pace of the game so I'd be surprised if he is fit enough to start on Monday. Same goes for Chambo.

Dickson and Barnard/Connolly are more than able deputies, and AC will be quality off the bench if required

I agree but Nigel plays AC more often, and makes fewer changes, than I would. AC's a good player but not ready to be playing every game.

Love the confidence change on the build up thread from 10 days ago.

Will be back online tonight listening into whispering Dave (seems years since I last heard him).

Agree with Alpine though, big test tonight. Skanky grounds or skanky pitches were our undoing last year and (although I have faith in their groundsman after the banter story) I cannot see a Bowling Green pitch being on the cards this afternoon. If we turn up and play with the right attitude (ie BATTLE for the right to play football) then I think we are all going to enjoy the next few weeks. If we turn up with billy big bollo attitude because we've just scored 8 goals in two games we could get a good kick up the backside.

Is NA the new AP in setting his side up for a gritty away battle or is he the real deal? Did I just dream those last two results in a daze of gogo bars, spicy curries, shopping & NY parties or was it all the real deal?

Can I find another cliche or will I have to settle for 3 points?

I agree with SNSUN, 3-1.

Davis

Richardson Jaidi Fonte Harding

Lallana Morgan Chaplow Dickson

Lambert Barnard

would be my bet for a starting 11

Whilst many people are guessing the possible result, you've chosen a good starting side.

I'd go with that. More muscle at the back and a few more toughies in midfield for a game NOT being played on SMS's velvet pitch.

Nothing against Guly, but he's just recovering from the early season criticism from fans on this site. I'd rest him TODAY, and give Barney a chance to start. He's a natural goal poacher and should be able to convert the half-chances when they come.

I'm guessing that we won't see much attacking wing play; but have to battle it out in midfield.

I'd be happy with 1-0 (even if we have to hold our breath for 95 mins.)

Despite Guly's influence in the last couple of games, I would give him a rest due to the nature of the venue. Barnard will be more suited.

My team:-

Davis

Richardson Fonte Jaidi Harding

OC Schneiderlin Chaplow Lallana

Lambert Barnard

Interesting Nigel Adkins averaging 2 points a game since his arrival. 30 points in 15 games

Im not really one for stats, but another intresting stat (Well as interesting as they ever can be) is that in the last two home games we have had 51 one attempts on goal, which is incredible. When you consider that the ball is only in live play for about 60 mins of the ninety, that is a shot on goal nearly every two minutes. I hope we dont change our formation just because we are away and will be intresting to see how many we clock up today.

No team in the league can live with us if we keep that stat going.

Just switched my TV on and it was on ITV4. The Schedule at the bottom of the screne said;

9:50 - The Champions

10:50 - The Saint

I'm pretty sure this is an omen and I thought I'd share it with you.

yarp, OK semantics, 7pm is this evening, but 9 pm when we finish is certainly tonight, a lot better than the kick off at 10pm I had for last week's afternoon matches

I'd be surprised if Adkins starts both Barnard and Lambert. If he wants to rest Guly then maybe give Connolly a start?

Keep that up and we end up with 84 points. Not quite good enough for the title, but should get us that auto spot!

I officially have never agreed with a single point you have ever made regarding players

Change Harding for Dickson and thats how i will go.

Guly, as much as i like him is probably more of a Home game player, but great to have on the bench anyways.

More of the same hopefully from Schniederlin/Chaplow and come on Lambert, get a goal my son.

7-0 Saints ;)
