dune Posted 1 January, 2011 Share Posted 1 January, 2011 This spoon is completely out of my area expertise (i'm a bit of an expert of OE/Hanoverian flatware - ha ha). It is of Hanoverian design and was presumably from the 1930-45 period. It is not silver, but of a light metal possibly alluminium? I recently aquired it because it was only 20p. It is stamped H.H.L mid terminal with the NAZI emblem above the letter M. Most antiques tell a story, and silver in particular can tell a more detailed story. Does anyone have any clues as to it's history from the marks in the photo's?
Deppo Posted 1 January, 2011 Share Posted 1 January, 2011 Oh My God! That is Hitlers spoon! You have managed to get hold of Hitlers spoon for just 20p! If my history is correct, I believe it was with this spoon that Hitler ate his favourite pudding (a Muller light yoghurt) as he came up with his Final Solution idea. A great specimin of a spoon, used by a great man and with a great story. Cherish the spoon, Dune, it may be the most valuable ting you will ever own. Heinrich himmler was responsible for conceiving the 'final solution', but apart from that, very humourous, well done
