Quickly reviewing the HCDAJFU and other threads on this site, it's quickly apparent that in the new Saints era, the days of the ITK poster are over. St. Mary's is sealed up tighter than a knats chuff.

I love this to be honest as it seems far more professional, however it’s made this place a lot duller.

In the past if you came on here and read a rumour, there was usually half a chance it could be true and in honour of that and whilst we wait (boring!) to hear official announcements on the saintsfc website, what was your favourite ever true or BS rumour seen on here.

For me it had to be Paul Allen's yacht seen offshore ............ brilliant

not a player rumour, but a statue one before it was unveiled.

'I've seen the statue, and it is brilliant, you will be amazed' or words to that effect.

the days of St David, LLS and the takeover threads. Oh those were the days. Anyone remember that takeover thread where PM's started flying around amongst half the posters and half the people contributing to the thread didn't know what the other half were talking about :)

The OPEN LETTERS started by Chorley provided a lot of entertainment.

But my favourite has to be the Rudi Skacel one

Constant rumours of the return of Glenn Hoddle since 2004.

HAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

The old Javier De Pedro rumours made me laugh. 'The answer to the Left wing problem we've been looking for!'

Oh, instead we got Neil McCann.

How many times has Kevin Keegan been linked with a return as manager of Saints ?

The Dell years were dominated by 'the building of a new stadium' in every patch of ground within a 10 mile radius of the City Centre.

And it was actually built on a piece of ground nobody knew anything about, let alone discussed on various message boards.

I´m sure they wanted to build a new stadium where toys r us is now.

The old Pirelli Works site was talked about as the new sitadium site years ago, but in forum times it was Stoneham that had all the discussions.

The old Lido site, it was offered in 1977, but the club said no, as the club had plans to turn the ground round 90 degrees, and the opportunity was gone .

The takeover thread and the development plans. Absolutely hilarious. The characters and personas that materialised were incredible. But the best bits were all the 'released' SMS site improvement plans - priceless!

The weirdest was probably the NAMG/oil rig incident.

Wasn't NAMG a spoof company set up by 'someone' to hoodwink the SFC board into believing an offer was on the table?

And did we ever have confirmation of who Longshot was? Something to do with meeting Fulthorpe at a betting shop booth at an away ground? (one's memory is prone to fading)

And I'm still waiting for Torquay Saint's mate to find his scanner in the loft so he can post a copy of the Wolverhampton News article where the Wolves chairman had declared an interest in buying Saints...

Oh, and Paul Allen's private 737 jet landed at Heathrow the same week that the Paul Allen/Vulcan story broke in the press. Fact.

It's ok I'm waiting for you to drop it every time a thread like this comes up! As I said at the time I was taken for a ride.

For the record there is a difference between Torbay and Torquay.

In my mind, you are the king of the takeover thread Trousers.

Oliver Bierhoff joining in around 2000, along with Thomas Rosicky.

Shame.

my favourite was always the one concerning the fact that we gave a trial to Didier Drogba, and were going to sign him but RL didn't want him ........because he thought ....he had a bit of an attitude !!!!

For goodness sake,Nigel.... get us someone else with the same attitude!

I seem to remember the Lido site was blocked by some skate? deacon ? the later chairman or was it mayor of skatesmouth?

Going way back in the day, but Gary Lineker was seen in Ted's Fish and Chips place a few times, but I think he went to Japan or was it the time he went from Everton to Spurs?

Since this romour many footballers used to be seen in Fish in Chip places, but now seem to have moved on to other places, and managers now seem to all go to Costa Coffee!!

He never went from Everton to Spurs. A little jaunt in Barcelona in between. The only Line-acre rumours I remember were about him coming back from Japan to us.

This was the archetypal Saints forum rumour - the original poster chock-full of self righteous indignation "how dare you call me/my friend a liar/no wonder this forum is going to the dogs etc" completely oblivious to the simple facts of the story - if the chairman of Wolverhampton Wanderers had come out and said he was planning on buying a second football club it would not be tucked away on the inside page 57 of some black country local paper with no other media outlet in Britain bothering to follow it up. Bonkers.

Tracksuits delivered to WGS house

This was another solid gold classic from Pilchards, hero worshipped as some font of insider knowledge but more often pitifully wrong than right. And full to the brim of the aforementioned self righteous indignation whenever challenged, of course.

It's fair to say the golden age of rumours on here is over, but they'll always be some, and Jan transfer window is as good a time as any.

And it's people like you that make this forum very unpleasant. You compare this forum with other clubs and there is more nasty comments here than any other. Most of the people on here have massive egos and that is the reason I have not bothered paying another £5. I don't want to waste my time reading how much o a better saints fan you are than me.

I said sorry at the time - get over it and get over yourself.

And before people remark, yes there is probably spelling mistakes in here....

Cb hope you and your ego have a great nye!

On the contrary, I find CB one of the best posters on here.

Calm down dear.

I didn't say you didn't apologise, and I certainly never say "I am a better Saints fan" than anyone, so you can stop frothing at the mouth now. I think it's you that needs to "get over it".

I just said your rumour was a classic of the genre, and good lord it was.

Happy new year.
