Adkins will need to earn his money in preparation and execution of a a professional win. If we are to get out of this league this season we need to be utterly determined and focused and hope for a bit of luck.

Probably won't be as easy as people think. Exeter seem a bit hot and cold - Think they've over performed this year.

They've beaten Sheff Wed 5-1, beaten Charlton, scored 3 away at Oldham, beaten Huddersfield away, beaten Carlisle & drawn with Peterborough. But lost games you'd expect them to win.

They can score goals. I'm hoping for a return to our patented 3-1 victory. A win would really keep the momentum going.

Exeter aren't a bad team. Not amazing individuals but a good hard working team. They have a lot of attributes that we will need to be aware of.

We better win this one or I'm in for a ribbing when I go back home to Plymouth.

6 points from the next 2 games is a must.

If we carry yesterdays performance for 70 minutes into saturday then i can't see any team handling us.

Let alone Exeter. Hopefully something can be sorted for Chaplow to feature.

Ex Manager Paul Tisdale at game v Huddersfield.

No doubt impressed with the mighty Saints.

Exeter have a reasonable side but we should win 3-1 or 4-1.

Krysiak (Jones) in Goals.

They will play three centre backs with two over lapping full backs. Tully RB and Goldbourne. LB

Duffy(ex Pompey) Taylor(good in air but no legs like Jaidi)Jones B. ( SUB..Archibald Henville, previously sent off at St Marys)

two in middle.. young lads Sercombe and Dunne (both runners.. hustle and bustle..Spiderman will have to up his game like against Hudders..dunne 19 yrs ex Arsenal)

with Harley in the hole, linking with front two. This lad is good on the ball if given chance

will link play well and shoot from edge of box at will. All three midfielders box to box with high work rate...Cozic as sub.

There is another midfielder if fit and on his game who is coming back into the side..like Harley very good..David Noble

Strikers x two should read as Logan (no legs..put Jaidi on him re air threat) and Cureton but Nardiello or O'Flynn as cover.

As before watch Taylor up for corners..

Harley is a player we should be looking at i feel.

Is that Noble that was at Bristol City?

Harley has a very good left peg and a good shot..good on ball and plays the little triangles very well .

Noble was at Brizzle..very good in the middle of the park but has had serious leg injury..on his way back in fits and starts but we should control this game and win comfortably...hopefully.

Sercombe and Dunne have been playing well in Midfield..

From what I have seen Saints will be too strong and will win..

Alot will depend if they try to play open football or just park the coach and wait for a break. I just hope we start the New Year in 2nd place and then dont look back or let go of it, get out of this Division at last!!

Yep, that'll be League One, where 18 months feels like a lifetime.

Attendance for Exeter anyone?

I was wondering about that after the 4-1 win and a decent atmosphere with 24k. It would be good to see towards 30k like last year though I assume it will be less. Still, 24k is good for the third division.

Just off Mutley Plaine but offically I come under Lipson

On the road. Area manager for Devon for my company

Not heard of 'twigs'....Been to 'The wee clipper' on the Barbican, great selection of spirits. The Clipper on Union Street doesn't look the most inviting place though...

Ah right, yeah been there. Yeah I just noticed the looks I get when I walk past an keep away. Dont they have a 24 hour licence?

To be honest I hardly ever make it down that far. I'm still trying to hang on to my student days so don't get far out of North Hill.

If I remember rightly the big centre back scored in each game against us from headers taken from corner kicks. Set pieces probably their best chance of scoring, but we need to win what ever the score.

Matt Taylor....Recently back from injury..

A handful at set pieces ..as stated watch out at corners.

Saturday is setup really nicely now.

Good result for us tonight - Brighton 1 - 1 Charlton, so everything is still within reach. Brighton seem to be dipping a bit.

I honestly think the league is ours if we perform how we can consistently.

I have a feeling we COULD be in the top 2 come Saturday evening, and still in the top 2 the day I am back to work on Tuesday. Hoping for a really good January which will see us top of the league by the end of it.

I have found my positive mojo again, and I am hoping Saints keep it that way!!

Tougher game than people will expect, a lot of other clubs have underestimated them and come unstuck.

Same side for me, perhaps bring Chaplow in to he starting XI.

agree...they hammered sheff wed 5-1

Posted
Must win game, we need to show our intention is real. I expect a comfortable victory, and expect us to have it pretty much won by half time.

I wondered how long before someone labelled this as a 'must win' game!!!!!

to be honest don't expect any easy/hard games in this league - how well badly team is doing doesn't seem to matter, unpredictable league

It is a very important game to win, with the backlog of tricky away fixtures we need to get ourselves ahead of the pack now to allow for points dropped later in the season.

Despite being 2 points off 2nd we are also only 3 points off 13th so a couple of poor results could see us slipping rapidly down the table.

Exeter have had some good results this season, winning away at Huddersfield 1-0 stands out, but looking on their fans forum they dont seem that confident.

Hopefully they bring a decent following for this one, any update on the number of tickets sold?

apparantly some of their squad have got a bug inlcuding Ryan Harley, the conspiritors amoungst us will think this is a fake bug as it's nailed on and proof we are going to sign him, it's a done deal and we wont let him play against us.

http://www.thisisexeter.co.uk/football/Key-trio-miss-training-bug-hits-City/article-3045792-detail/article.html

If we can take care of business against them and D&R we could be top 2 by monday night as all the other teams around us have tougher games than us and Sheff Wed go to Huddersfield on monday in what is a massive game for both. huddersfield will be desperate to win after a couple of defeats.

After a million years of watching Saints I still dont know what to expect each time I turn up, maybe thats footie not Saints. We should run out comfortable 3-0 winners with confidence surging through the side. Just as likely we'll concede a soft early goal, go all disjointed and flap around for 85 mins trying in vain to get back into it. We'll see. A bit of steady consistently good performing would be great but we're probably at least a good quality striker, CB and two CMs away from being able to get to that stage. Perhaps the cheque book will come out next week?

Posted
We shall have to watch that pace and footballing skills of Jake Thomson on the wing though.

probably won't get a game, don't think he's a regular starter. Harley is their danger man but I don't doubt that Deano and Richardson will deal with him effectively. Probably a booking for Deano in store though.

I bought a couple of tickets for block 34 (Kingsland) yesterday afternoon and all they could offer me were 2 near the back.

Going by this alone im sure we'll excede Tuesday's attendance.

Kingsland corner is almost always full.

Some people (including the ticket office staff) seem to think "near the back" mean worse seats. In fact from the back of St Mary's, as long as you are central, you get the best overview of the match. Its not like St Jame's Park where you would be miles away at the back.
