jam Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Or if we got the backing of a major PC manufacturer. Then we could have, "The Dell St Mary's Stadium" Might have a slight issue with Dell's corporate colour...
jam Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Actually I think I know who it is. Somebody didn't lock down their linkedin profile. Most people won't have heard of the actual company name, but they are huge and every single person will know their brands. How the forum has some kind of 'closed guess' system, so people could put in who they think / hope it would be and they get published when the actual deal is announced?
stockportsaint Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Cillit Bang. would prefer it to be Cillit Gang Bang:
Marsdinho Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 I would love it to be Saints Transport, have been passed it a couple of times over the Xmas period and it really stands out as do their lorries. Id go with Saints Transport as well, or Redstripe http://www.redstripe.net/
dickyhale Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Also local connection - Esso I would like it to be esso.
Hatch Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Who are NTS anyway? I have seen their ad set out in the seats at the Northam end between the two sets of supporters for quite a few games this season. wink
buctootim Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Who are NTS anyway? I have seen their ad set out in the seats at the Northam end between the two sets of supporters for quite a few games this season. wink National Tyre Services?

krissyboy31 Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Garmin or Carnival are my guess! Both multi-nationals, with their European HQ's in Southampton.

Lighthouse Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 It will be someone with a local connection like FlyBe were. Skandia Ikea Carnival P&O Bacardi B&Q HSBC Solent Uni seem to be jumping on football sponsorship for England games Ordnance Survey DHL With the exceptions of Solent uni and P&O, they are all large multinational compaines with branches in hundreds of cities across the world. Hardly a local connection. Can't see it being P&O as it's not really a local thing. People go TO Southampton to use ferries, so most of them aren't really going to be exposed to the publicity.
Mowgli Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Not a sponsor but how about we support a local charity, Naomi House. Nice idea but why support one charity (Naomi House has done very well locally over the last few years despite investing £5m in Icelandic Banks!)? The Saints Foundation ensures that other equally worthy casuses are catered for.
Window Cleaner Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 BNP Paribas would be good. tennis wallahs
shurlock Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 BNP Paribas would be good. thats right, some french bankers....
Trader Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Garmin or Carnival are my guess! Both multi-nationals, with their European HQ's in Southampton. Good call - they could fit Rickie with a device to show him where the f*cking goal is. Sorry - couldn't resist.
Golden Balls Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 With the exceptions of Solent uni and P&O, they are all large multinational compaines with branches in hundreds of cities across the world. Hardly a local connection. Can't see it being P&O as it's not really a local thing. People go TO Southampton to use ferries, so most of them aren't really going to be exposed to the publicity. Well yes they are multinational companies, but they have large offices/HQ's in Southampton. When I said I thought it would be someone with a local connection, I still assumed it would be a larger company. Otherwise theres Mikes Chippy, Bitterne Hardware or Cloud Wine etc. Skandia have a massive office right in the heart of Soton and seem to get involved with the club as much as they can. Ikea have just built a flag ship store in the city centre that attacts 1000s from across the south every day Carnival have just built a massive head office right in the city centre P&O you mentioned Bacardi-Martini was based at the docks for decades and still have their head office in an SO post code. B&Q have their flagship HQ in Chandlers Ford HSBC have a big head office by the station but granted they have loads everywhere. Much like Barclays in Ocean Village Ordnance Survey have a big history with Southampton and still based here. DHL was pretty rubbish. They have an office at the docks but they have several offices in every city.
Rebel Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Motorola, Ericsson and Huaweii (?) all have there UK head offices in Basinstoke. Sony, IBM and Siemens also have offices in Hampshire - and Vodafone is not that far away! Arqiva's head office is in Winchester - and Nokia and NTL are based in Farnborough. Theres always Denplan in Winchester as well! Then theres Ineos in the New Forest and Centerprise International in Basingstoke. There's even Twinnings, Bendicks, Wella and Game with head offices locally as well! I'd love to see Dell - and with stadium naming rights - or Virgin!
Katalinic Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Actually I think I know who it is. Somebody didn't lock down their linkedin profile. Most people won't have heard of the actual company name, but they are huge and every single person will know their brands. Pentland Brands?

Fan The Flames Posted 30 December, 2010 Posted 30 December, 2010 Fu&k sake those virgin st marys jokes were over done back in 2001 before friends provident signed up, not original at all. Any company that pays significant money for stadium naming rights is wasting their time, it will always be referred to as st marys, unlike an emirates or Reebok. Draper tools, rank Xerox or air Florida get my vote for shirt sponsors, unless we are going back to the pony days in which case get in DIMPLEX !!! You make a big deal about the Virgin gags being unoriginal then list out unoriginal sponsors. Fwiw the Vigin gags are funny, Air Florida, Dimplex etc is not.
JRM Posted 30 December, 2010 Posted 30 December, 2010 Fwiw the Vigin gags are funny, . yeah really hilarious pal.
SaintNeil90 Posted 30 December, 2010 Posted 30 December, 2010 Stuart Baggs No, he's not a big fish, he's not even a fish!
eelpie Posted 30 December, 2010 Posted 30 December, 2010 It can't be Portakabin. They've been snapped up by Skates (so I'm unreliably informed)
Dr Who? Posted 30 December, 2010 Posted 30 December, 2010 I would love it to be Saints Transport, have been passed it a couple of times over the Xmas period and it really stands out as do their lorries. Every time I go past Saints Transport on the M25 I have to say 'The Saint'. EVERY time... so sad because I go past it all the bloody time, and for home games!
Window Cleaner Posted 30 December, 2010 Posted 30 December, 2010 Probably some obscure on-line betting outfit
sandwichsaint Posted 30 December, 2010 Posted 30 December, 2010 No, he's not a big fish, he's not even a fish! I thought he was a whole field of fish?
MarkSFC Posted 30 December, 2010 Posted 30 December, 2010 Motorola, Ericsson and Huaweii (?) all have there UK head offices in Basinstoke. krissyboy31 Posted 30 December, 2010 Posted 30 December, 2010 Probably some obscure on-line betting outfit Certainly won't be anything like that if the Leibherr family have anything to do with the decision. Against their Christian values.
doubleonothing Posted 31 December, 2010 Posted 31 December, 2010 Well yes they are multinational companies, but they have large offices/HQ's in Southampton. Much like Barclays in Ocean Village Ordnance Survey have a big history with Southampton and still based here. DHL was pretty rubbish. They have an office at the docks but they have several offices in every city. Carnival UK own P&O Cruises (along with Cunard, Seabourne, P&O Australia) however as they are owned by Carnival PLC which is based in Miami I'd have thought it unlikely. Micky Arrison (Carnival CEO) is owner of Miami Heat and I'd have thought more interested in them (Unless Cortese has got him lined up as Liebher replacement money). In recent years there has been an increase in Royal Carribbean International and Celebrity Cruise ships in Southampton. They are Carnival's rival and so it could be seen as a large "2 fingers" gesture to Carnival if RCI were to sponsor the shirts of Carnival UK's home port's football team. Associated British Ports are a big operation which has a prescene in the area. They use a lot of Liebher equipment (cranes etc) in their ports so there is a tenuous link.
Big John Posted 31 December, 2010 Posted 31 December, 2010 ..............DHL was pretty rubbish. would go down well in london 2012 year but not so sure that the players would be too enamoured with having the infamous marge and homer felatio logo emblazoned across their chests..
Dog Posted 31 December, 2010 Posted 31 December, 2010 (edited) TAMPAX ? It's just been leaked on another website. . Edited 31 December, 2010 by Dog
