Fair play to Guly today

Well done

From about 20 mins on we completely dominated the game.. They looked dangerous on the break through out but we over powered them..

Some of the play in the second half was superb.. Against the team that started the day 3rd in the league..

The whole team played very well... Even morgan..

How ever.. Guly is not a footballer..

He is awful

Brilliant game and what a way to set ourselves up for an automatic promotion push in the new year

Ok ok I may have been wrong..

Still, no different to the other mongs that claim Adkins is not good enough for us.. Or when we dare lose, we must sign 6 new players

Football fans = idiots.

Ain't that the truth! Two stonking home wins. Not bad for a team "in major need of an overhaul" and "desperate for Cortese to loosen the pursestrings" and other such guff we've had to trawl through recently.

Oh, and we've got no goals in the team either.

At least TDD is happy to say 'I was wrong' - something that many posters here simply can't do.

Having an opinion is what makes being a football fan fun... refusing to admit when that opinion is wrong is what makes people a cock.

Amen.

Worth also pointing out that things can and will change more than once too... I'm sure Guly will have some bad games, Adkins will make some errors, we'll have at least one game before the end of the season where we play really badly... sh!t happens.

Judgements should only be made over a run of 10+ games, ideally more IMO. If only everyone could remember that when making their sweeping judgements after one result inparticular.

Has Guly extended his loan or signed for the club? Looking on the OS it says that his loan is up in January but we have a option to buy him. Surely if he hadn't signed or extended his loan he wouldn't have played today!

His loan could be up anytime in January I suppose. But I reckon he'll sign/already has. Which is a terrible thing and Cortese must go NOW because Rory thinks Guly is sh*t.

Believe his loan expires on Tuesday (from what I heard on SaintsPlayer today). His loan was not subject to the same rules as Chaplow because it was not a domestic "transfer". I suspect Guly would not have played today if we weren't 99% sure he would be our player in the next few days, or at least a new loan deal was tied up.

LOL at this thread now, 2 assists and 2 goals in two games, unlucky not to get a hatrick. And for all you clowns saying Barnard would have scored Gullys chances on saturday your hero missed a 1 on 1, today when easier to score. Well done Gully lad and keep it up, ignore the clueless c*nts on here.

I think it just goes to prove that people shouldn't come on here spouting sensationalist rubbish, especially if they don't even go to games.

Whilst Guly can get it wrong, he also does a lot right. He remains a player who can make a significant contribution in L1 and the Champ on current evidence.

****ing Useless.

Any of our other strikers would of buried the vast majority of chances he had, link up play can be done by the rest too.

No excuses, he isn't good enough.

why was it not warranted? why post it?

If anything he played better last game.

Fair play to the lad.

My knocking of him was not warranted.

Sorry can i not be proven wrong.

My reaction on Tuesday was knee jerk and after a few beers.

If you look back in the thread i will say i watched the highlights and saw that his contibution was very good.

Apologies for being wrong, i wish i could be right all the time like you.

Why post this?

exactly mate, if he got it right everytime he wouldn't be playing in league one. Some on here love stats and you cant argue with his. In fact i wouldn't be surprised if his goals & assists ratio is better than Waigos who is some sort of football god in some on heres eyes.

I think you take the rough with smooth with Guly.

He is just as capable of sticking a shot for a throw as he is scoring like he did today. But then again were in League 1 so what do we expect from our players. He never shirks though, which is a massive plus. I like him, good player for us.

I've been a big critic of Guly in the past. Was I wrong? Well, no not really; at the time he wasn't playing well at all. Played well today though and took his goals well. Hopefully he can keep this up and become a real asset (if he stays). Having said that, I'd still rather start with Barnard. The number of chances we had when he came on was exceptional. We weren't exactly wasteful with them either. Two fantastic saves kept out Lallana and (I think) Dickson. Barnard had one himself which he would otherwise have buried if he wasn't a bit rusty.

I shouldnt imagine guly has been losing too much sleep over the comments from the clueless c*nts on here. Just a guess tho

Ooooof. Shocker.

Two "assists" maybe but I thought he was all over the shop. He was against Brentford too. One "good" game and he's brilliant. Rather than posters having a go at me as the "clueless majority" are the ones who will slag the team off something rotten when we lose. Typical fickle Saints fans.

The guy played like he had anvils in his boots.

Fully justifiable, IMO.

Lee,you dealt with another excellent Guly performance a lot better today by coming on and scoring. Earn your place back rather than making up petty insults about Guly that nobody agrees with.

The boy played well today. I, very occasionally, have a fantastic round of golf but will never be a pro golfer as I'm not consistent. That's the game and let's hope Guly builds on this performance because not only was he running off the ball well but he also got on the score sheet twice.

I will eat humble pie today though and accept that maybe I shouldn't have laughed when his first 'shot' ended up with a throw in 20 yards from the goal line - fair play Guly, please keep this going for the rest of the season now.

Can't see them rushing for a striker if he stays

Lambert

Guly

Connolly

Barnard

Lallana

Ox-C

All good strikers - most in this league won't have one or two of their ability

Connolly is a crock who can't get a goal for love or money. Lallana and AOC are midfielders. If we're going to pretend they're strikers, then we need to sign 4 new wingers as we have none left. I know they can play in a variety of possitions, but if AOC, Lallana and Lambert all got injured at the same time, we'd be royally shafted in the attacking dept.

Another striker and winger needed IMO (assuming Puncheon leaves).

I am getting a little tired of posters slagging off players. I think we can accept with Guly that there are a lot of things about his game that need improving but he works his butt off making opportunities for other players and now he has scored 2 and should have had 4 goals and with assists. In terms of scoring compared with chances the worst offender is Lallana but no-one has a go at him.

There is no doubt we have had some disappointingly poor players in recent years (there is a long list) but I do not think Guly is one of them.

Its good to see that DD and Appy have the balls to say they might have got it wrong.

Perhaps the posts on here made them look more at his performance and then saw more of his other play.

As for LB, I hope his misses were down to rustiness. I would play Guly ahead of him even before yesterday.

There are so many things with ALL of our players that need improving. That is why they are playing for Southampton and not Barcelona - not because we're the prettier of the two ports that's for sure!!!

Sometimes our fans expect Frank Lampard in midfield with Pele and Gary Lineker in the box...

Shame that Rory isn't a big enough person to do the same, and has instead gone into hiding.
