Saint_clark Posted 28 December, 2010 Posted 28 December, 2010 Even forgetting the goal, he looked much sharper and much more aware today. Won almost all of his headers (can remember one that he didn't - but he won a free-kick for that anyway). I have complained about the massive break in games but if it means we get the real Rickie back, then i'm more than happy.
saintedwill Posted 28 December, 2010 Posted 28 December, 2010 A friend of mine who's a gashead told me that there was a season when he wasn't scoring but then on boxing day scored a screamer and ended up scoring loads in the 2nd half of the season. So come on the xmas dinner!
S-Clarke Posted 28 December, 2010 Posted 28 December, 2010 He was excellent, he looked much more mobile than he has had in recent games (i.e he was actually jumping for the ball) He didn't look like he was carrying as much weight as previous weeks either...so maybe these called off games have actually benefited us massively.
georgeweahscousin Posted 28 December, 2010 Posted 28 December, 2010 He seemed pretty chuffed to score, let's hope it boosts his confidence and he fires us on a run.
The9 Posted 28 December, 2010 Posted 28 December, 2010 His best game for some time, carried on where his first 20 minutes in the Brentford game left off.
jam Posted 28 December, 2010 Posted 28 December, 2010 The goal was a great sign as he had no time to linger, just turn and shoot. I think it actually gave the whole team a lift.
Golden Balls Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Looked a lot fitter today. Hopefully he can keep it up
benjii Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 His touch was much better than it has been during most matches this season. Good performance.
Appy Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Alot sharper today, if only he had a decent striker partner today.
benjii Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Alot sharper today, if only he had a decent striker partner today. You determined to make a tit of yourself on every thread?
Appy Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 You determined to make a tit of yourself on every thread? No, just the ones that are relevant to Guly.
Smirking_Saint Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Appy, seriously, just go to bed now We get you don't like Guly, but some of us realise there is more to football !

We get you don't like other people sharing different opinions to you. Grow up. I don't like a player, you don't like that, get over it. Just because you tell me what opinion i should have doesn't mean i'll think, "Oh yeah, Smirking_Saint says i should like Guly, so now i will.
St_Tel49 Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 No, just the ones that are relevant to Guly. We know your opinion on Guly - there are plenty who have expressed disagreement - me included. Can we just leave it at that. Your opinion does not become more valid through constant repetition.

Saint_clark Posted 29 December, 2010 Author Posted 29 December, 2010 Nor does all of yours. Leave it at that. Indeed, let's get back on topic. There's a post match thread and a thread specifically about Guly if you want to praise/slate him, and a PM system if you want to carry on bickering. (Note - this isn't aimed at anyone in particular).

I'm all done now anyway. Lambert when on form, is probably 90% of Saints fans favorite player so it is great to see him starting (hopefully) to come good again. I did paticularly enjoy it when a fan near me about 5 minutes before Lambert's equaliser said " **** off To Newcastle Lambert you useless cvnt.
chocco boxo Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 His link up play I thought was surperb , he looked half a stone lighter and a box of knives sharper. Well played Sir Rickie.
M271 Posted 29 December, 2010 Posted 29 December, 2010 Reading his interview on the saintsfc web site he says that he was 'a bit angry with certain players (at 1 - 0 down)'. Who do you think that they were ? I know that it is natural to be annoyed with your team mates at times but being 'a bit angry' maybe shows that Ricki has some issues with some of the team and maybe contributing to his 'off' performance this season. To be fair he does go on to say 'but we picked ourselves up and got back in the game, and I think that we did that brilliantly', so maybe I'm micro analysing his comment too much but it was an interesting thing that he said probably born out of his personal frustration with his form.

If you watch the interview you'll see there are definitely no problems there, you can tell by his facial expression, in fact he was smiling when he said that. He was angry because for the goal we completely left their man free, so I guess he felt the same as every other Saints fan in the stadium!

It's a relief that Ricki seems to be OK with his team mates, we need him firing on all cylinders for the remainder of the season.

Who do you think that they were ? He had every right to be angry and i suspect it was Jahdi and Fonte. Jahdi for giving away a stupid freekick and Fonte for kindergarden marking for their goal. Both came good for the rest of the match as did Rickie

Window Cleaner Posted 30 December, 2010 Posted 30 December, 2010 What were some of our players moaning to the referee about after that goal? Lallana was going on at him for ages. because they took the free kick very quickly and not in the same spot as the foul (well behind it though). As our players had switched off they thought they should moan about getting caught out I suppose.

It was more the fact that the ref had brought back quick free-kicks for us when we'd taken them in exactly the same spot as the foul, but he let that one go.
