up and away Posted 27 December, 2010 Posted 27 December, 2010 Stop trying to defend the gimps... It's very difficult sticking up for D'Urso after some of his decisions and I won't even be tempted to go there. But the FA have set up procedures to avoid this type of thing. The referee is required to give a pitch inspection 90 minutes before the start. Previous to that, the club has to inform the FA immediately they believe there may be a problem. They then get someone local in and a decision can be given to save most of those fans travelling. I can't see D'Urso and his assistants getting this totally wrong (on a ledge here), so I would put Charlton's enthusiasm for getting revenue in here as the problem. The very fact you had so many other teams around having similar problems and it was not as if they were throwing resources at solving the problem.
Smirking_Saint Posted 27 December, 2010 Posted 27 December, 2010 are u trying to wind people up? Only a complete retarded c u n t wouldn't see what all the fuss is about when a game is called off less than a hour before kick off when weather conditions have t changed for 3 days. Muppet calm down sweetheart
Dr Who? Posted 27 December, 2010 Posted 27 December, 2010 Stop trying to defend the gimps... Not trying to defend them, but referees are always a great scapegoat. Just stating the facts, and Charlton must have really wanted the game to go ahead even though it was not realistic. No other games played in the area at all yesterday outside the premier league. It really is a no win situation.

Muppet My sentiments exactly, the only excuse for calling of a game so late to kick of would be a dramatic change in conditions in the last few hours before kick off. In this case the weather was probably better at the time it was called off, than it was in the previous few days! Therefore someone has been an idiot. If both teams were happy to train on the pitch and play the game, as it has been suggested, then the idiot is clearly D'urso.

They do the same thing if the streets are "dangerous" when half a mile away, there will be 30k people in westfields.

I do agree btw, it should never have been called off this close to kick off, but then i have to put a lot of blame on Charltons door who although did not get the game called off earlier but also didn't manage to adequately prepare the pitch.
