dune Posted 24 December, 2010 Posted 24 December, 2010 Have you ever heard of shampoo and personal hygiene?
Jonnyboy Posted 24 December, 2010 Posted 24 December, 2010 Have you ever heard of shampoo and personal hygiene? ever heard of paying full price for your turkey?
Badger Posted 24 December, 2010 Posted 24 December, 2010 (edited) Have you ever heard of shampoo and personal hygiene? To be fair to the op Dune he may well be aware of the hygiene issues but if some other grubby little toe rag from a family of lowlifes introduces the nits into school then they will spread like wildfire. Just one of the downsides of compulsory unregulated education for the masses, including the gypo's, and pondlifes. This of course is my christian view, one of compassion and goodwill,at this time of year. Edited 24 December, 2010 by Badger

Just one of the downsides of compulsory unregulated education for the masses, including the gypo's, and pondlifes. Nits spread through all schools on a regular basis, especially the smaller ones (my daughters six) because they have their heads in contact with other all the time. Anyway nits prefer clean hair to dirty because its easier for them to get a hold. Parents of small children know this, ergo Dune never will.

Our school - primary - issued a letter warning of a problem after an identification. With some vigilance it was soon halted in its spread. One other issue that ****es me off is parents sending children in with signs of impetigo which again spreads rapidly.

Deppo Posted 24 December, 2010 Posted 24 December, 2010 I read that the kids that go into school with nits and impetigo are actually Al Qaeda members, designed to spread the bacteria and attack the country in its most vulnerable area: grumpy, middle-class parents.

My daughter doent go to that kind of school I'll have you know. The most exotic it gets is the little girl who is half French.
dickyhale Posted 24 December, 2010 Posted 24 December, 2010 (edited) Head lice infestations seem to be on the rise, when I was at school (30 years ago)the nit nurse used to come round and if you were infested then you were removed from school until your head was clear. The nit nurse no longer exists and children with headlice are no longer banned from going to school, it only takes one child in a class with parents who do not check and treat their child's hair for all the rest of the class to become repeatedly infested with the dreaded beasties. Teachers know what kids are regularly infested with nits but are powerless to do anything about ...... I say bring back Nitty Nora the nit nurse Edited 24 December, 2010 by dickyhale
Doctoroncall Posted 24 December, 2010 Posted 24 December, 2010 The best thing I've fond is buy some leave in hair conditioner spray (Aussie make this) and add ~20ml neat tea tree oil to the bottle. I used this every day after my kids got an infestation a few years ago and although there has been outbreaks at the school my kids have never had them.
Denzil Posted 27 December, 2010 Posted 27 December, 2010 Shave all your child's hair off with a bic razor. Not only will they avoid lice, they will also have a really trendy hair cut.
