Charlton Weather Watch/Build Up - game called off! (Dejavu?)

I suppose delaying the kick-off until 2 or 3 pm to give the ice more time to thaw is too obvious for D'Urso.

He's going to delay it for 15 minutes and have a look again at 12:00.

"Kick off looks like it may be delayed for 15 mins ref still not convinced hoping sun will come over more of pitch in next 30 mins. From official saints twitter.

If its not fit to play at 1pm it aint gonna be much different by 1.15.

This is all set up for a classic case of a team not fancying the conditions.

Lets hope, if it goes ahead, that team will be Charlton !!

But that leaves it so late it'll be re-freezing again before the game ends

Apparently the area of concern is one touchline and the "linesman's run area" which are still in the shade.

If it's been called off because of this then D'Urso is a f*cking w*nker.

Well lets hope Huddersfield goes ahead today and they'll be knackered Tuesday. Every cloud and all that.....

Yes, I hope they lose 10-0 and have four red cards! :)

Whilst I don't dispute the veracity of your putative conclusion I feel, as a syllogism, this barely scratches the surface.

Sympathy is with all the saints fans who have made their way up there.

Are they really saying they didnt know the sun wouldnt get to the side of the pitch that was iced over at 10 this morning ?

The bloody stand that casts the shadow hasnt ever moved, surely some bright spark at Charlton must know that sun does not get to the whole pitch by lunchtime in December ?

Ridiculous, no thought for travelling supporters as per bloody usual !

Course he is. Any decent ref would have just got both teams to keep it 10 yards in from the wings so no-one gets hurt

It does seem strange, so to speak, that the kick-off was not moved back to 15:00 yesterday, or so, once it became not unclear that ice, rather than any snow or suchlike, was going to be the prohibitive factor, as it were.

I bet the Spazzer didn't even think of that! And they have the nerve to call them selves "proffeshunals"!

Well there was every chance it would be postponed so they took a chance

just another reason as to why we desperately need to move back up the leagues, not many games in the NPC called off so far.

Our league: 1 game(maybe none at all) on for about the 3rd week running. Those with points already on the board will be advantaged

during the ensuing fixture chaos.

Good point. Exactly what I thought when that immigrant ship sunk off Australia the other day.

There's no sensible logic, other than retrospective hand-wringing, to that post at all.

This is getting rather tedious. I'd much rather we played and had some points in the bag?

With the impending increased backlog, we will lose a few more to the weather yet, we must look very carefully at squad depth because it's beginning to look like two games a week for a few months.

Getting fed up with no Saints games, roll on the 28th and let's give Huddersfield both barrells!

Nice one.

I've forgotten what it's like to watch us play football. Are we any good?

A ground of Charlton's stature should have been able to get the game on, really.....

D'Urso's decision was made despite the fact that both managers, Phil Parkinson and Nigel Adkins, plus the two sets of players were happy the pitch was in good enough condition for the match to go ahead.

What a w4nker!

Perhaps we will get a better ref for the re-match..... I can now enjoy the rest of Christmas without Saints ****ing it up!!! Bring on the Cricket!!

He would have been convinced by the groundsmen and the club that they will get the game on, but they have failed not the referee. Players safety is the most important thing, and if anything happens to the players and the ref has let the game go ahead. The ref will lose points get relegated and lose money. The referees are put under so much pressure to get things right by the FA.

Pity the FA don't rigidly apply that pressure to their performances during a game?
