Window Cleaner Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Frost under the covers, looking decidedly dodgy.
benjii Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 I am keeping my eye on the Twitter... "icy in places" apparently. Boil a kettle FFS.
silversaint Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 "Kick off looks like it may be delayed for 15 mins ref still not convinced hoping sun will come over more of pitch in next 30 mins. From official saints twitter.
benjii Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Anyone go to the cup match away against Reading under Souness? HTF did that go ahead?!
Kingsland Nick Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 I suppose delaying the kick-off until 2 or 3 pm to give the ice more time to thaw is too obvious for D'Urso.
benjii Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 I suppose delaying the kick-off until 2 or 3 pm to give the ice more time to thaw is too obvious for D'Urso. He's going to delay it for 15 minutes and have a look again at 12:00.
beatlesaint Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 "Kick off looks like it may be delayed for 15 mins ref still not convinced hoping sun will come over more of pitch in next 30 mins. From official saints twitter. If its not fit to play at 1pm it aint gonna be much different by 1.15. This is all set up for a classic case of a team not fancying the conditions. Lets hope, if it goes ahead, that team will be Charlton !!
Window Cleaner Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 He's going to delay it for 15 minutes and have a look again at 12:00. but the groundsmen have to work on 1 specific area of the ground.Don't know in what way though. Hot air blowers perhaps.
Wurzel Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 I suppose delaying the kick-off until 2 or 3 pm to give the ice more time to thaw is too obvious for D'Urso. But that leaves it so late it'll be re-freezing again before the game ends
benjii Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Apparently the area of concern is one touchline and the "linesman's run area" which are still in the shade.
silversaint Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 The 2nd pitch inspection happening at the moment?
rocknrollman no2 Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Sky just said the game is deffinately off.
InvictaSaint Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Well lets hope Huddersfield goes ahead today and they'll be knackered Tuesday. Every cloud and all that.....
Saint_clark Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Apparently the area of concern is one touchline and the "linesman's run area" which are still in the shade. If it's been called off because of this then D'Urso is a f*cking w*nker.
benjii Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Well lets hope Huddersfield goes ahead today and they'll be knackered Tuesday. Every cloud and all that..... Yes, I hope they lose 10-0 and have four red cards!
benjii Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 If it's been called off because of this then D'Urso is a f*cking w*nker. Whilst I don't dispute the veracity of your putative conclusion I feel, as a syllogism, this barely scratches the surface.
beatlesaint Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Sympathy is with all the saints fans who have made their way up there. Are they really saying they didnt know the sun wouldnt get to the side of the pitch that was iced over at 10 this morning ? The bloody stand that casts the shadow hasnt ever moved, surely some bright spark at Charlton must know that sun does not get to the whole pitch by lunchtime in December ? Ridiculous, no thought for travelling supporters as per bloody usual !
Kingsland Nick Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 But that leaves it so late it'll be re-freezing again before the game ends Weather forecast is for it to stay above freezing until about 5
Wurzel Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 If it's been called off because of this then D'Urso is a f*cking w*nker. Course he is. Any decent ref would have just got both teams to keep it 10 yards in from the wings so no-one gets hurt
Saint_Jonny Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Rubbish. At least its not long to wait for the next game, which will be on due to the weather warming up over the next few days. Not happy about this though!

Ridiculous, no thought for travelling supporters as per bloody usual ! It does seem strange, so to speak, that the kick-off was not moved back to 15:00 yesterday, or so, once it became not unclear that ice, rather than any snow or suchlike, was going to be the prohibitive factor, as it were.
benjii Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Course he is. Any decent ref would have just got both teams to keep it 10 yards in from the wings so no-one gets hurt I bet the Spazzer didn't even think of that! And they have the nerve to call them selves "proffeshunals"!

Window Cleaner Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 just another reason as to why we desperately need to move back up the leagues, not many games in the NPC called off so far. Our league: 1 game(maybe none at all) on for about the 3rd week running. Those with points already on the board will be advantaged during the ensuing fixture chaos.
benjii Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Well there was every chance it would be postponed so they took a chance Good point. Exactly what I thought when that immigrant ship sunk off Australia the other day.

Windmill Arm 2 Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 ****ing weak pathetic gay health and safety ****s!!!

Draino76 Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Well there was every chance it would be postponed so they took a chance Are you some sort of spastic? The game was on at 11am when I left.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 This is getting rather tedious. I'd much rather we played and had some points in the bag? With the impending increased backlog, we will lose a few more to the weather yet, we must look very carefully at squad depth because it's beginning to look like two games a week for a few months. Getting fed up with no Saints games, roll on the 28th and let's give Huddersfield both barrells!
S-Clarke Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Nice one. I've forgotten what it's like to watch us play football. Are we any good? A ground of Charlton's stature should have been able to get the game on, really.....
beatlesaint Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Well there was every chance it would be postponed so they took a chance I'm sure the 2500 Saints fans who journeyed up there will be warmed by your statement ;-)

benjii Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Ryan Dickson says the pitch isn't bad and he's played on worse.
S-Clarke Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Looks like it's a case of D'urso strikes again. Possibly the most incompetent referee in the game.
itchen_dan Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 D'Urso's decision was made despite the fact that both managers, Phil Parkinson and Nigel Adkins, plus the two sets of players were happy the pitch was in good enough condition for the match to go ahead. What a w4nker!
Dr Who? Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 Perhaps we will get a better ref for the re-match..... I can now enjoy the rest of Christmas without Saints ****ing it up!!! Bring on the Cricket!!
benjii Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 D'Urso obviously fancied getting back home for a pot noodle and a ****.
Saint dyer Posted 26 December, 2010 Posted 26 December, 2010 In the pub. Absolute f u c k I ng disgrace. Feel sorry for people in the coaches. Durso c u n t. F u c k in g livid. Call it off at 8 or 9 am but an hour before. Shocking.

Players safety is the most important thing, and if anything happens to the players and the ref has let the game go ahead. The ref will lose points get relegated and lose money. The referees are put under so much pressure to get things right by the FA.
