Turkish Posted 20 December, 2010 Author Share Posted 20 December, 2010 should it matter where we play these teams...? after all, we SHOULD be beating them..right..? we won one game and dropped home points....one game against the mighty stockport...what aboutt he debacle at home to oldham...home to swindon...away to the great gillingham side (that went down) whether this side could have gone to last seasons millwall and got a point is irelevant..we have however, beaten this seasons 2nd place team on their own patch..under this (apparenly not very good) manager You are using Wednesday to support your argument, yet a few posts ago you were saying we are only 5 points off second with two games in hand, you cant have it both ways. If you use the points to games ratio Huddersfield would be second and guess what, we were well beaten there in a dire away performance, i know i was there. One point and no goals for against the top two is not so impressive. In fact our only other goals against any team 6 were penalties.

Andy_Porter Posted 20 December, 2010 Share Posted 20 December, 2010 Stockport is irrelevant was during the transition period. Wycombe was crap but Tranmere we actually played well, the referee ruined the contest, I was as ****ed of as anyone driving back from Tranmere after losing there but it was such a travesty. Saint Fan CaM Posted 20 December, 2010 Share Posted 20 December, 2010 I cannot disagree with that. I so hope you are wrong though. Mainly the £500 I had on us to win the league at 4/1 hopes you are wrong... Oh dear...good luck with that one then. ):

Turkish Posted 21 December, 2010 Author Share Posted 21 December, 2010 if this is true, who do they have two games in hand on? :-) err, the team in 2nd place, Sheffield Wednesday, it really isn't difficult. All it means is Wednesday are in a false position Saints are not.

JustMike Posted 21 December, 2010 Share Posted 21 December, 2010 Yep. That's a good point Turkish and one I didn't consider until now. Clear evidence that we have actually got worse than last year. Worrying times. **** me! lets all go and slash our wrists!

kpturner Posted 21 December, 2010 Share Posted 21 December, 2010 The phrase "moot point" springs to mind. You can pick various points in the season for comparison and conclude we have progressed/regressed/stayed the same. We may, for example, get promoted having achieved less point than last year. Will that be progress or not? We may not get promoted and have more points than last year. Progress or not? Let's judge at the end of the season. toofarnorth Posted 21 December, 2010 Share Posted 21 December, 2010 Ignore Sheffield Wednesday as they've played more than everyone. We are four points off the equivalent second placed team which is Huddersfield with our next game against them. No need to say how important that one now is. doddisalegend Posted 21 December, 2010 Share Posted 21 December, 2010 Just throwing this one out there but all those who keep saying were only 5pts from second do know we're only 6pts from the relegation zone as well don't they? Not that I think we're going to be relegated but a couple of bad matches could see us slide down the table just as quickly as a good run could get us up the table. I'm not sure being 6pts of the relegation zone should be considered an achievement considering our resources at this time of the season.
Turkish Posted 21 December, 2010 Author Share Posted 21 December, 2010 and another thing, 15 away games to play, 7 of which are against teams above us. Our away form isn't great and having lost 7 already this season we can only really afford to lose another 3 if we are expecting automatic promotion. Legod Third Coming Posted 22 December, 2010 Share Posted 22 December, 2010 2 points to mention: After Xmas last year we stopped winning away. No team is dominating this year. Sheff Wed were set to go top on Saturday but lost 5 - 1. Away form after Christmas: DDDWDLWDWWL - the first three draws were Millwall, Brentford and Exeter. Worth noting that we got better results at these grounds than most of the remainder of the top six, for example. I don't think that's disastrous form away from home is it? Where we categorically lost last season was in the first two months of the campaign. The huge advantage we should have had this season was the ability to hit the ground running with a full squad... However, similar form to last year between now and the season end would see us do ok for the play-offs I reckon. A modest improvement on last season would probably see us win the league. We just need to get on with it. Last season we had 19 at this point and Leeds had 45!! Contrast that with now - we have 28 and Brighton have 36 - that's eight points to make up.
