Chamberlain to Arsenal or Liverpool £10m

forever a red and white

Anyway Arsenal don't need OxC, they need someone to replace the awful Wilshere.Lad can't pass, can't tackle and is never where he should be.If he's England's great one for the future the rest must be really crap.

I read this earlier. You were being sarcastic weren't you?!

like adkins said in his post match interview the lad still struggles to complete 90 minutes and ends up with cramp. maybe theo walcot was pushed too hard and thats why he is very much injury prone. IMO he is better off staying at saints for next 2 seasons so his body can develop and withstand the rigours of premiership football. in 2 seasons time we may even be in the premiership so no need to move:)

Someone just tweeted that OC will sign for Liverpool in January, but will be loaned back to Saints for following two seasons as part of the deal........

heard that today by a few people at the game..

liverpool have sounded out a £1m signing on fee for him..and £20k a week on a 5 year deal..and would loan him bak to us for the rest of the season...

I also heard that AoC is currently on around £2k a week

huge jump in wages that would mean at worst, he would never have to worry about money for the rest of his life

Of course everyone in the PL is looking for English talent as FIFA rules will soon require a minimum number in their squads. AOC is such a talent so everyone is envious but also he is no fool and will want at least two more years at SMS to become a real footballer instead of a one-trick circus pony. The rest as they say is up to Saints, get into the PL and all will be well.

I think he will go in the next 6-12 months. I don't think it will be about money I think it will be the draw of a 'bigger' team and his dad's influence. Perhads 2-3 mil in Jan but we keep him on loan for 6-12 months and a good sale on deal.

This is a joke right ??? 2-3 mil when walcott went for 10 ??? AND we needed the money then and we don't now and he is as good ???? there is no logic in your statement..............

I just don't think we will get big money because of the league we are in. We never got 10 mil up front for either of those mentioned. What would the value of having him loaned back to us and have a few mil to spend. I would expect the fee to be full of add ons. As soon as he has his head turned we will struggle to keep him.

10 mil is a bit steep, but then we don't need to sell and he is an important player for us. Of course he and his father can put pressure on but still we won't be held to ransom. Similarly like Puncheon, his stock is rising and whether he wants out or not we can within reason hold out for what we feel is reasonable.

If he does go it will be for around 5mil plus add ons IMO.

when did the clubs last have a say if a player stays? Tevez is the exception, but he can hardly expect to raise his wages above what Man c can offer unlike Ox at Saints.

His dad has to make a big call whether he wants his son to develop here or move on to big money now.

I would be surprised if Ox is still here in a year as a Saints player (perhaps as a loan back) NC IMO has little control over him staying if OX is determined to leave. Our only hope is that he is bright enough to see what happens if you leave too early.

i agree but i do not believe that Ox is in the same class as bale and never will be. The first time i saw Bale play I was enthused by him, Ox did not make me feel the same. He is obviously a talent, but is it his pace or his overall play that sets him apart?

He needs to recognise that he is looking at up to five years in the reserve/loans, with the possibility of a few substitute appearances, followed by intermittent games and stiff competition from bought in foreign international players. He's a footballer first and foremost and first team football is the aim wherever he is. He won't do better than stay here he's only 17 and a first team regular.

Liverpool are skint - The manager Hodgson said in an intervju yesterday that he needs to sell before he can buy - the bad part for him is that the youth players are on big wages and Championship and L1 club can´t afford their wages. So that AOL would go there is not goning to happen - at least until someones pays silly money for the dead-meat of the Pool squad.

But both Bale and Walcott had a very difficult 2-3 years before breaking through, so arguably, for all reasons apart from money, yes they did leave too soon.

what did you expect...they were really young and went to very established clubs......more so in theos case..

from playing with jermain wright to playing with thierry henry...did you really expect them both to be stars in their teams straight away..????

Quite. So we agree they left too young.

nope...the fact they have achieved what they did tells me they moved at the right time for them..

unless you really think they would have produced this form under jan and wotte and the amazing relegation season..?

Who knows how things would have been different if they had stayed? You can argue that they improved quicker by being around top internationals or you can argue feeling they have to justify a £10m transfer fee whilst playing in a prem team's reserves puts too much pressure on a 17 year old and they would be better off playing regularly for Saints first team until they are 20.

would walcott have scored a hatrick for england, play and score regularly in the champions league...contest for major honours in england and score in cup finals if he had stayed at saints..?

probably not

of course the big clubs haven't any brains and will pay 3 times his worth Lol.

At present they would be buying potential, and whilst he has a great deal of pace and seems to have a footballing brain, he is not ripping teams apart and quite frankly he looked out of his depth in the brighton game. i am allc for developing talent but if it means sacrificing a young player to get some more experienced players in who can get us promotion then do it.

I also do not believe that we will not spend much in Jan as we seem to be running on income earned not a nice wedge of money given to us by the Liebherr family.

AOC is a valuable commodity. We don't need to sell therefore we don't need to accept any offer just because it has been made. If he is going to go we hold out for the highest bid and believe me there will be intense competition to sign him. I really think that that if people on this board had been responsible for transfers we would have made £3m tops in the last ten years.

I watched a bit of Liverpool Wolves yesterday and I wouldn't think more attacking players is Liverpool's priority, their weakness is in midfield and in the build up to attacks. So if Comolli was at SMS on Tuesday I'd tend to think he was looking at players other than

than Ox.Player's who'd probably cost less and fill more immediate needs.

But then Hodgson is a shît manager
