Just called Sky to cancel our subscription to see what their reaction would be. I have been given 25% off for a year. Going to upgrade to HD soon so this will pay for it.

Go for it. They want to keep customers so they'll do plenty to keep you. You'll need to hold your nerve as they'll offer more services for the same money but keep to the 'I want to cancel due to money concerns', you'll get put through to other negotiators but even if you stand your ground and start the cancelling process they'll probaby call you back a few days later with a deal. It's not guaranteed but worth a punt, I'm still enjoying discounts from 3 years ago.

I have got three HD boxes for free. They are all on commission and desperate for a sale so if you haggle well enough you can get it for nothing.

They NEVER say ok, always giving it the hard sell to try and keep you. Took a 15 minute call last week to cancel mine after several offers.
